A government of parasitic incompetents, from penthouse to parking garage.
CMHC admits it must “do better” after building 12 homes in eight years under a federal program to convert surplus Crown lands into affordable housing. “That does take some time,” an executive told the Senate banking committee: “We want to do better for sure.”
Last year, the CMHC gave themselves $27 million in bonuses…

Hey Kate, do one on the Bank of Canada bonuses paid for bankrupting the Bank of Canada.

Only in dictatorships is incompetence so lavishly rewarded.
And canada is what?
To my mind, the Great Outrage here is not that incompetence is rewarded – it’s axiomatic that in virtually all situations where one CAN engage in self-dealing, that one will attempt to do so (indeed, this is a hallmark of small-“c” conservative thought). The Great Outrage – and this requires a real hard look in the mirror – is that Canadians seem to be content to let all these self-dealers GET AWAY WITH IT. Again and again and again…
To cite an example from my hometown, the Eglinton subway is many years behind schedule and many billions over budget and the head of Metrolinx – who makes close to 900Gs/year on the public teat – is asked at press conference when it will be finished and he says “I don’t know” and everyone seems to collectively shrug their shoulders. Nothing to see here…move along…next…
There really is a Crisis of Accountability in this country (and probably many others too) and I have no idea why. Anyone?
And here I thought that small c meant the less cowardly conservatives versus the big Cowardly Conservatives like the politicians.
Imagine that the ostensibly sensible portion of the population, assumedly believing in far right extremist policies like capitalism, math, borders, budgets and other arcane beliefs; could be so utterly dominated and defeated by those dumb lefties.
Bet they regret their incompetence once the show trials start.
There’s always show trials.
I believe his “I don’t know” was delivered in time, though. If I recall, when he started, he said he’ll give the people a date (just recently) after he had time to study the job. So “I don’t know” is a very sad self-incrimination, if not damnation.
“Any prediction of an opening date at this stage of the project will just be an estimate, and I’m not comfortable giving that,” said Metrolinx CEO Phil Verster.
After how many years that the project has been going on? Since 2011, that’s 12 years!

Where did those $27 million in bonuses come from? From people who can’t afford the 20% downpayment, and are forced to buy insurance from CMHC if they want to own a home/apartment/shack down by the river.
Western Nations are being LOOTED … by incompetent leftists who couldn’t operate a lemonade stand in the free marketplace. They’re ROBBING us BLIND !! And we keep giving them MORE POWER as they … “tear it all down ma’aaan”
This is the correct answer.
Unfortunately it’s probably too late for the pitchforks but I really hope they come out anyway.
reminds me of Calgary Transit . 10 or more years on the Green Line , doesnt have a defined north or south end or a route through the centre . a lot of planning but no plans. a department of dozens if not a hundred.
And that’s the cheap part, wait till the construction costs pile up, change orders, route deviations, material and labor annual increases due to (everything the libs do).
Same thing with Sound Trans (Seattle) Years late and blowing thru cash galore.
Yes the higher ups are getting quite rich.
CMHC have lost sight of their mission. In Calgary in the 1970’s I worked for a home construction company. Back then CMHC funded townhome projects (can’t remember whether partially or wholly) under a rent control program called Limited Dividend . Tenancy was for families whose income didn’t exceed a set amount and was very strictly enforced and checked yearly. Rent increases had to be justified to CMHC. Our company had to commit to construction, then leasing, property management and maintenance for a fixed period (probably the term of the mortgage). No flipping. No huge rent increases. No conversion to condos. No huge profits, but with careful management, a reasonable one. The tenants were nearly all employed, with families, many were immigrants, happy to have safe and affordable homes. Why isn’t CMHC doing something like this anymore?
Because politicians can’t make money doing that.

I have no experience or competence concerning mortgages or housing. So it sounds like I could be a senior executive.
I nominate you CFO. Hell … your Finance Minister has a degree in journalism or something un-useful to her job.
Well, yes, she has a degree in journalism, which will help her as she goosesteps in following her grandfather
Being a Liberal and Fin Min requires a liar extraordinare.
Nothing prepares for that like mainlining misleading Media mendacity.
Parasitic does not begin to describe the canadian bureaucracy and the politicians that supposedly run them.
Finding the right word for those who support them is the real chore.
” We want to do better for sure” How much more bonuses is want to do better?
All while being “up at the cottage” no later than 2 every Friday.
Kinda like the Halloween kids who are first to see the unattended bowl of candy on the porch and take it all.
Looting the tax payers so snivel servants can live lavish lives like the royals they aren’t. The entire public services needs criminal audits.
Ya know, at one time CMHC was looked upon as a shining example of a well run organization which helped Canadians to purchase a new home affordably. Now its just a slush fund for the grifters and and parasites in this liberal government. Fire them all and make them pay back what they stole from hard working Canadians. Steve O
