If the city of Montreal gets its way, you may be unable to use a natural gas fired barbeque. But not to worry; propane barbeques will still be legal.
Examples of soon-to-be prohibited systems include residential gas-powered stoves, indoor gas fireplaces, hot water heaters and furnaces that emit greenhouse gases and barbecues and pool or spa heaters that draw from gas lines.
The city says exceptions include emergency generators, commercial stoves in restaurants, gas-powered barbecues with removable tanks…

Yes, by all means, continue to add load to the grid while undermining it through useless intermittent energy sources and destroying Canadas energy industry.
If these imbeciles were deliberately trying to wreck the country, what would they be doing differently?
As an Albertan who subsidizes Quebec… let the eastern bastards freeze in the dark.
Why should a country full of white people have more reliable energy, and a higher standard of living than the poorest black man in South Africa? That’s not “equitable” … so in order to “level the playing field” … the Marxist Left is gonna take your standard of living down a peg.
I know these people … I went to UC Berkeley … I know how they think, and what they say.
Crab bucket mentality in the left.
Both clowns theTurd and Guiltbeau are MPs from Montreal. If the electorate in Montreal elects and re-elects imbeciles, they deserve the worst.
So I have no sympathy whatsoever. Same case with all these oh-boohoo it’s so hard in Gaza, you guys voted for Hamas and now you expect sympathy/humanitarian aid?
Peppers gonna be peppers!
Mindless slaves to fashion and susceptible to any left-leaning intellectual fad surfacing anywhere anytime
Peppers?
Frenchies.
when I was growing up in Montreal. we called them Pepsis, Frogs, Peppers, just to name a few.

” you guys voted for Hamas and now you expect sympathy/humanitarian aid?”
Faults narrative! When you have only 3 choices, Fatah, Hamas, or stay home on voting day………….
The wankers keep harping that bullschiff!
What Lieberals and city politicians have the propane monopoly in the Montreal area?????????
Propane tanks are allowed – for now. It will be very easy to completely ban bottled propane.
Hank Hill will protest.
When are the adults going to start making decisions in this country.
These regs come from bureaucrats totally in bed with Agenda 2030 though their Marxist friends around the world. The COVID response proved that.
Fire them. All of them.
I will pray for them…to be visited by The Mother Of All Ice Storms.
Stupid f****** people.
Who will be on the Gas BBQ Busters squad?
Homing in on those who would cook their burgers selfishly without any concern for the environment.
We all need to stop cooking our food and just eat everything raw.
Don’t worry about having to eat raw meat … there won’t be any meat.
I will never understand how people would want to destroy our modern society with all these restrictions and laws. This is a living hell.
Well … here in the SF Bay Area … the Air Resources Board has paid “sniffers” to seek out fireplace smoke on “no burn days” as deemed by the ARB. You will be heavily FINED for burning wood to keep your house warm … because you cannot afford PG&E’s highest gas and electric rates in the nation.
And who helps the sniffers? Your neighbors of course. That busybody woman, true believer in global warming – block captain down the street will turn you in to the State Polizia …
Oh yes, she will. Holy Mother of Fructose, will she ever.
The biggest shock of my life here in Ontario was watching how FAST all these Karen types turned on a -dime- for Covid. They would sell their own mother to the Covid-Stazi for a free mask, and in fact some did. Christmas dinner is kinda quiet in a lot of households the last couple years over it. Not sometrhing you forget once you’ve seen it.
You people out there want to see something, you watch how fast Karen turns into a Jew-sniffing Gest@po police dog if things go against Israel.
The true evil in the world lives right under your nose, and its name is Karen. That’s why I live in the sticks and my nearest neighbor is more than a bowshot away.
I admire your remoteness … 🙂
Municipal Jacobins virtue signal in fantasyland while the rest of the planet erases all that virtue in a few seconds worth of steadily increased fossil fuel use. The people deserve to get what they vote for…good and hard.
It’s pretty jarring how obvious the strategy is. For decades now they have put their pseudo-environmentally friendly items in front of you while spouting unsubstantiated “evidence” why you should use them. Few people did, including those encouraging you to do so.
Since that didn’t work, the new approach is to take your items away from you by inflating their cost, imposing draconic regulation, or coercing manufacturers to stop large scale production through the removal of consumer confidence. Even that has been too slow for them, so now they have resorted to outright banning of their production.
All this is done without the least consideration of repercussions and hardship. For example, in 2028 it will be illegal in California to manufacture gas powered generators. In 2030, it will be illegal to manufacturer gas powered appliances. While, at the same time California has increasing brown outs across the state to accommodate their poor management of infrastructure. So, at the time that their residents require the generators and appliances the most, they are removing them from their grasp.
The easiest way to deal with all this Cult BS is to simply, TURN OFF THE TAPS. Give them a good long look at their marvellous, Utopian future.
I have been saying that for years. Turn them off in January and make some popcorn and watch.
I admire your optimism. Unfortunately, despite how committed you are to your personal property, and how focused you are on defending it, the government has already begun confiscating it. I’ll bet you never even heard a whisper of this in the media. There are 80 privately owned farms in South Dakota currently subject to eminent domain. The government is waltzing right in and taking it. Jamie Dimon of JPMorgan, a staunch World Economic Forum supporter, has said numerous times that the US may soon need to invoke eminent domain and seize private property. Well, they’re doing it….quietly.
The Dutch government is currently buying out 3,000 private farms in the Netherlands and then plan to shut them down entirely. In the US only 60% of the farmland is privately owned. 40% is now owned by corporations and foreign investors. As the latter number grows (and it will)….the former percentage will drop. I fully expect it to drop rather quickly by use of Government confiscation via Emergency Acts relative to climate change accusations and emissions associated with farming.
In short, food production is turning into a weapon. My point is that you can take the position that urban city dwellers will starve if left on their own, as food production is a product of rural society. Well, it sort of is now. But, if enough land is grabbed up by corporations (and government eminent domain)…two guess where all that food is going to go…and your first guess doesn’t count.
Shrug. A montrealer’s prayer:
Insult me, beat me, piss on my rights, and tax the shit right out of me … but please, Please, PLEASE, don’t take away my seven-dollar-a-day daycare!
Exactly. Feral pigs in their now closed pen gorging on their free corn.
The Formula 1 race is still on, so I’m all good for whatever the municipality decides.
Get out of the cities… while you still can.
I took a brief inventory of Montreal’s Mayor and city councillors. I think I see the problem.
So I guess they’ll use briquettes or wood?
Not legally. Wood, coal, and charcoal burning devices were banned years ago.
A fellow I know used to cut and sell firewood to Montrealers. He stopped doing it about 20 years ago because, like good little moutons, they wanted him to complete information sheets as required by their insurance companies…thereby leaving himself open to liability if the home-owner burned his house down. He, along with a lot of other firewood suppliers, told them where to shove their sheets. So, by the time the constituent municipalities started banning woodstoves 8 to 10 years later, a lot of Montrealers had already shooted demselfs in da feets as far as getting reasonably-priced wood supplies.
They can have my natural gas barbecue when they pry it from my cold, dead hands.
Once they tie in NG barbecues with home insurance it’ll be all over but the crying.
When I had a condo in downtown Toronto, natural gas BBQs were allowed but propane and wood were prohibited for insurance reasons. The idea was natural gas was a known risk, but propane tanks were not. They will build new condos without natural gas and then ban propane for insurance risk. Anyone want to bet against that?
Propane tanks can become bombs in a fire, not what you want lying around a condo. Gas lines are safer, they don’t explode. They only burn. I’d be happier in a condo knowing the hillbilly goat-raper next door didn’t have a stack of propane bottles leaning against my living room wall.
But yes, you will be ending up with no barbecue if these ecotards are allowed to do what they want. Time to move out of Hogtown.
Wow, it sounds like there’s something about your neighbour that really gets your goat.
Of course so can refrigerators that use flammable ozone safe coolants…
“Montreal is going ahead with dumping over 2 billion gallons of raw sewage into the St. Lawrence River —Montreal’s primary drinking water supply -in mid October.
– Concordia University biologist Dr. Grant Brown”
https://twitter.com/Veteran4Freedom/status/1718996241542152651
also, “lol..”
montreal is doing things that have no upfront cost to them, but imposes costs on others, like every other government…
Well, as long as as they dump the sewage in below the place where they draw the drinking water out, it’s not a problem for them, is it? The Ottawa legend is that back in the 70’s the Chretien government resolved to provide proper drinking water for all the native reserves in Canada, and hired only Quebec-trained civil engineers to do all the work; with the result that every reserve received a water and sewage system in which the sewage discharged into the drinking water. Hence the now-legendary native water problem. (Oh, I have no idea if that actually happened. They just tell these stories in the civil service.)
The St. Lawrence River is not exactly a plastic bucket. It’s more like God’s own ongoing flush toilet, and it’s a reasonable place to put sewage, if you do it sensibly. The communities downstream from Montreal don’t seem to be suffering, so maybe there’s no problem. Of course, it’s always fun to frame some perfectly normal situation as if it were a moral abomination of some kind, and I suppose if you’re a biologist at Concordia, opportunities for fun are where you find them and gratefully found. It’s like those people who accuse the city of Victoria of dumping raw sewage into the Pacific Ocean, as if the Pacific Ocean were an inadequate ceramic pot.
NG burns cleaner and hotter than propane. But OK, Montreal…you go ahead and freeze yourselves into dark, hungry, ice cubes.
Problem is ,People who know they can run your life better than you can.
Once they get this belief, they are unstoppable in their concern and caring,as they “help” us.
We shall have to teach them to mind their own affairs and leave the rest of us alone, before will we see sensible adults in municipal office.
The pendulum is swinging.
The cost of humouring such fools has caught up with up.
And they really are this stupid.
They truly know, that they know better than you and I ..How we shall live our lives.
Delusional Parasites.
There is no “cure” for this level of stupid.
Evil results,from compound stupidity.
Forward!.
I have been telling people for years now, that this climate craziness would eventually lead to Canadians losing”
fireplaces
Gas BBQ’s
gas powered lawn equipment
outdoor fire pits
gas powered cars
gas or oil in houses
Looks like we are well on our way.
Sucks to be right all the time…..sometimes.
