Via @buperac – Tried to hire a machinist, interviewed a guy from India that is a mechanical engineer (they all have this fake degree) then went to a hole in the wall tech school in Ontario. This guy had over 10 years of machining in Canada, we did a working interview and he didn’t even know the fucking basics of machining. The easiest questions he could not answer one of them correctly. We will not hire from India because of this, it has happened to us 3 times so far with fake degrees and diplomas.

medical, research, is a fast track immigration category. One which governments, both federal and provincial and all political parties,
including what passes for “loyal” Opposition Parties in Canada support.
They’ve been telling us for years, the shortage of medical professionals,
skilled tradesmen and technicians is being or will be solved by mass
3rd world immigrants. However, it seems they fall into two separate
groups. 1. those who are truly qualified. 2. others who are not and
fear no consequences for falsified claims.
Discriminating between competency and incompetency, between
honest and dishonest employees. We called that meritocracy and
from that immigrants carved a peaceful and prosperous nation
out of the wilderness. That is no longer in fashion politically and
so is neither peace, nor prosperity. It’s a pity.
Pierre Polievre claims there are large numbers of skilled immigrants
unable to contribute because their foreign qualifications are not
recognized. Being unable to recognize non-existent qualifications
via testing. So who has a problem with that?
If they learned a skill set to Canadian standards or arrived with one;
that would be doing what immigrants to Canada have done since
before Confederation. And no the BOLO program doesn’t count!
Don’t over-promise, rather over-deliver, that should be the political
axiom of patriots and politicians, of both old and new stock.
I have a friend (retired) who worked in engineering. He said that same thing about engineers from Arab countries. Most places they worked, would never put them in charge.
I guess it’s true.
Here in Ottawa, it is a revolving door of Indians being hired by Bell and Howell, Xerox, Cannon, Lockheed Martin etc.
All come through the pipeline as mentioned..most, if not all, with either fraudulent or grossly exaggerated degrees and work experience..
Said businesses quickly find out these people are next to useless, and replace them with the next crop of Indians, only to have that batch go south as well!
In some cases, in shared facilities, the fired reappear as hired the next week working for the competitor.. merely a change of shirt.
Troubleshoot with testing equipment? Can’t figure out schematics? Don’t know resistor values or why they are important? Never seen a multi million dollar CNC machine before, but ‘wanted to try it’? Ruin $6K of tooling in 10 seconds?
Want to take photos of proprietary prototype landing gear components and when caught, say you wanted to show your friends back home ‘what you do’..and said friend is actually a major in the Indian army?
Want to hire Indian ‘engineers’ and have them build you a light rail system in Ottawa, then find out 3 years into a multi-billion dollar job that not one has ever held an engineering job, know nothing of the job at hand, have no experience in rail building, grades, switches, safety systems, locomotives or station building?
Want to hire Syrians, one of Trudeau’s preferred class, brought over in their tens of thousands a few years back? Give them jobs in the high tech industry in Canada, then realize that some of the 40+ year olds had never held a job, of any description, in their entire life?
How about we go with the Chinese ‘students’ who spent most of their time scheming to steal information, drawings, samples and research to send back to China?
I’ve seen it all..this is our future..the elite grifters wanted it this way..you have no idea how many of them are holding positions in areas of critical concern..aircraft maintenance, water and sewage control, track maintenance, industrial food preparation..
Your life is going to get worse..does anyone truly think that importing low IQ, low skilled drones with no appreciable skills, work ethics or loyalty to our country will work out? Good luck!

Heh. Here I was, cynical old me, thinking it was all about fueling the Liberal portion of the electorate.

I could never figure out just how or why captcha could be considered a valid tool for anything.
This happens in Australia too.
15 years ago I lived with a guy who taught in one of these colleges. He said every student was there to tick the box for a student visa so they could work in Australia. His main job was ticking off that students were present so they could show the government that they were fulfilling their visa conditions.
Then the owner of the college hit apon the idea of actually enforcing attendance mid year so that all the students would drop out or fail, after having paid their fees, thus allowing him to restock his courses with another batch of students who would pay all their fees, after which he could do the same thing again.
Many industries hire recent arrivals, an increasing number of truck drivers are here on student visas…..most without actual training.
One of the reasons that the third world is a dump is because everyone is poorly educated and no one has any skills. “Developing countries” are never going to develop if anyone with any skill or education emigrated. All their “skilled people” emigrate to the west then the west sends them “Development Aid”, and aid workers to try and fix the problem we created by poaching all their doctors and engineers. The whole system is a total scam.
Other reasons are widespread corruption and incompetence. Like Canada . I’m watching a crappy movie I already know the ending to.
Not too many places where you will find corruption and stupidity blended together so beautifully as Canada.

30 years ago I would see all these guys with Masters and PhD’s in electrical engineering with degrees from Tehran University who had used them to get permanent residence into Canada.
All but one were fakes, with little to no knowledge of even basic wiring never mind any science.
They almost all had these beautiful looking diplomas that got them into the country.
The one guy who had this crappy old fake looking diploma, was the only one who knew electronics.
The big problem with foreign “students” is that Immigration and Citizenship Canada does not keep track of them, they just assume that they leave when their student visas expire, while many of the annual (now) 900,000 annually allowed to enter, stay illegally. The foreigners know the scam and use Canada’s student visa system to get into the country and then disappear, either to work illegally here, usually for their own countrymen, or as a stepping stone to then illegally enter the USA.

As it appears, the education, so to say, has become money making enterprise with the idea of scamming the taxpayer to pay for every imported student.
“Educational” enterprise is no different than news cartel or lithium battery makers, if there was no tax cash they would not exist.
The making of money is not troubling in itself, it becomes a scam when they ask government to pay for it.
You may have read recently that the poor suckers of the international students paid good money for the classes, though have no money to pay for the room and board. This is not a concern for Canadians, it is entirely business of the students to pay for their living expanses, this country has nothing to do with it.
Now just wait how the idiot or rather the fascist cabal that runs him, is going to spin it that we need to help rather rich suckers with other people’s money.
You may have observed a pattern where the government ‘experts’ take over an enterprise or create one and it never, never, never makes money. It does not need to, the other people’s endless involuntary money supply chain is fixed, that’s how politicians get elected.
There is not one politician in this country that would stop it, so it will have to run its time and go bankrupt as it eventually will.

Worked in Chile years ago for a while….virtually everybody claimed to be an “engineer” of some sort.
Saw this working on projects in Ft. Mac, Welding/Mechanical Inspectors with all the “right” certifications (API,CWB 3), yet couldn’t follow drawings, couldn’t identify bad welds, etc. etc, but were hired to higher positions than the Canadians. Oh and English was a problem for them too.
Explains why the new tax cuts are aimed at “rental units” and not “housing units.”
And I just discovered that numbers are no longer allowed in handles. I’ve been posting under the same handle here for over a decade. Kind of annoying.
