One morning, a fortnight ago, I checked the BBC headlines to find my old editor, Peter Wilby, peering out. He’d been exposed as a paedophile and convicted of possessing child sexual abuse images. I still feel sick at the discovery.
It would be disturbing enough to discover anyone you knew had done something so terrible – he was convicted of possessing images of children being raped since the 1990s. But Wilby wasn’t anyone. He was a pillar of the media establishment, an editor of the Independent on Sunday and the New Statesman, and a Guardian columnist.
Journalists who had worked with Wilby were appalled at his crimes, while others raged at his “hypocrisy”, but what shocked me was the creeping realisation that he had used his position as an editor and columnist to create what the writer Beatrix Campbell has called a “hostile environment” for victims of abuse.
It dawned on me that he had applied that “hostile environment” to me at the outset of my career when I was a freelance reporter at the Independent on Sunday, and he was its news editor.
Nothing is ever as it seems.
VOWG, As J Peterson might say, if someone is telling you they are actually a pedophile you better bloody well belive them: Wilby “called for a more relaxed approach to “intimate relations” between adults and children”. Currently he would be a child-attracted adult. Good job someone paid attention to that red flag.
Also, this type of sexual and physical abuse has been happening in many public schools for generations. It’s not systemic, it’s not motivated by genocidal tendencies, it’s a small group of people in a position of trust and responsibility who can’t or won’t control their own evil urges.

I think that’s one of the eye opening revelations of the last half decade. It seems there is a co-operative attitude amongst pedophiles. You could argue that the problem got worse over the last 20 years because of the popularity of secured chat rooms. It allowed communication and assistance to these type groups. And, while this article and the examples relate to media outlets. I’d argue that there is probably a more intricate and nefarious pipeline related to primary and secondary education. You could deduce that there are more sexual deviants being drawn to the education fields because that’s where the kids are. But, I think it might be worse than that. A significant number of these deviants seem to occupy positions of authority and decision making in education making it easier for their like to land positions. Call me old fashioned, but I have a hard time believing someone with purple hair, 12 nose rings and a flippant attitude would be hired so easily into positions that influence youths.

It’s very easy to control a person in a position of authority if you have damning information on them, obviously. The blackmailer simply shows the target the dossier of their criminal misdeeds and then tells them that their ass now belongs to them so you’ll do as you’re told.

This is why I am seriously concerned about people with agendas such as Trans activists and their colleagues such as activist teachers to have any say in government policy. The first and only question to ask is, why are strangers so interested in the sexuality of your 8 year old child?
That the top echelon of any hierarchy is compromised should not be a surprise, especially the more powerful, as the prize captured is more useful. It’s in human nature that people we rely on to look after things for us won’t be more diligent than we are in checking up on them.
Interesting timing. Yesterday Global was running a story on how the poor 2SLGBTQ+ (I might be missing a few letters, hard to keep up) are experiencing an uptick in violence. Or threats of violence. Or the impression that there is more violence directed their way. Because nothing says persecution like parades down main street with flags flying and police escort. Not sure why they are trying to gin up sympathy for an already protected class. The elephant in the room is the rise of pedophilia and the promotion by media and the ususal suspect of pedophile-adjacent culture and events. There does seem to be networks out there and people protecting each other. Blatant public obcenity or nudity around kids just tolerated as the new normal.
