Oil and gas are free goods in their natural state. It takes capital to find them Pipelines, refineries, distribution infrastructure as well, but other than that, renewables have the same or higher input costs to users:
Industrial plants to convert them to useable energy, electricity. Construction, operation and maintenance.
Infrastructure to manage variability of wind and sun
Large costs to extend and increase grid capacity.
Conversion of industry to electric operation, transport to EVs.
Add to that you cannot make the crap without using coal, oil and gas.

Nightfall, that’s a very good question. Margaret Thatcher thought that it migh be unwise to join the Euro via the Maastricht Treaty, and it looks like she was right. The Euro is only as strong as Germany’s economic strength allows. The EU will likely continue to use the Euro but its relative value can only decline with Germany’s decay. This means everything in the Eurozone will become much more expensive. The prospect of weak Eurozone countries such as Italy, Spain, Greece going back to their former national currencies is zero.
The sooner Germany is kaput, the better.
