Germany is debating whether to ban the far-Right Alternative for Germany (AfD) as the party surges to 21 per cent in the polls, amid warnings from intelligence officials that its members are becoming increasingly extreme.
But of course. The AfD is gaining support and the left is losing support, so the left does what it always does – ban what threatens its chokehold on power. It won’t end well.
Smacks of communism, and its relentless drive for world domination.
First: label the Party … “Far Right”
OK … I’ll play … if you’re gonna label this Party “FarRight” … then label the CDU as “Far Left” … and ban them too. Hint: The Far Right were the Dead Center 25 years ago. The Fascist Communists running Germany must be stopped.
PS … if you ban this Party … it will rise up in an even MORE virulent form … careful what you wish for, you might just be expanding their power
The entire world is watching the Deep State persecute Trump and if they manage to make anything stick it will become the moment when the dam bursts and the rest of us are swept away in the sudden onslaught of socialist totalitarianism. Every Western nation will begin rounding up anyone who is the least bit vocal about being to the right of Mao. If re-education doesn’t work there’s always the labour camps, how difficult you are will determine which grade of camp you get sent to. Ask anyone who escaped the Iron Curtain if I’m kidding.
US system of banning popular opposition apparently is now lawfare. Repubs change in primary rules (e.g. Cali trying to slip in change from winner take all to proportional) is attempt by party elite to interfere. Dems have the super delegates to weed out upstarts.
Cdn system has parties (Cons and Libs) selecting who they permit to be MP candidates riding by riding before they let the members decide which of the approved options they can pick (or sometimes no choice). Cons also protect incumbents from challenge (zero risk of being bumped in a ‘primary’). Cons leadership races are cute in that the party elite decides who can and can’t run to be the leader.
Or, you fight back and not with words.
Same old tactic from the left. Demonize relentlessly, and then switch to destroy.
Labelling groups and individuals as far-right just signals the intent to marginalize. It’s a dog whistle for calling someone a Nazi without calling them a Nazi. It’s truly a triumph of propaganda that a failed totalitarian state has been associated with conservative and freedom loving people.
The National Socialists, and the International Socialists were allies on the left until the National Socialists invaded the Soviet union in 1941, then they became “far right”. And only one of the aggressors in WW2 ended up with more territory at the end of it than at the beginning, but you never hear them described as “far left”
And many leftists in the USA, UK, and France openly supported the National Socialists until June, 1941.

You’re right about leftist tactics. No one eats their own like a leftist.
TIK has an excellent series of videos on Youtube regarding Hitler’s socialisms, not just in word, but in deed. One of my University professors stated that, ‘The biggest lie the left has ever told is that Hitler is Right Wing.’

I would call this a case of “the pot calling the kettle black”, but it isn’t even that. The AfD is practicing democracy and for that he want’s to ban them.
If you take away achieving aims through elections, you don’t leave people with many options.
Great news! I’d ban all parties if I was the boss. I’d hold membership liable for the candidates cock-ups as well.
The Freikorps exists for a reason. If you want them back, this is how you get them back.
It’s either ban the party or find crimes to charge all the party candidates.

The other parties should be asking themselves why the AfD is gaining ground? Perhaps there are issues to be addressed. Of course there are, and they should thank the AfD for bringing these forward. On more or less the same topic, the Globe on Saturday had alarmist opinion piece about the increasing popularity of the AfD. No analysis, just condemnation of the ” evil” people who would support this party.
