Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Any way you slice it, women’s sports on the surface is just patronization. That being said, there are benefits to women’s sports. You learn to function as a team in some sports. In others, you learn to identify and improve personal limits. Women’s sports can be used to improve discipline, focus and self-esteem.
But, the segregation of sports teams, leagues and events based on sex is a necessity. As a whole, the existence of women’s sports is patronization. Because, were there only leagues, events and teams for both sexes….there would be few if any females participating. I can’t think of one sport where that would not be the case. Were that the case I think it would be telling, but a shame. There is a lot to be learned by organized competition.
Yes, having been on many athletic teams as a girl and young woman, there are lots of character building skills, team/group dynamics learning and health benefits in sports. I also played coed sports as an adult with coworkers and friends.
I don’t actually understand why people try to discourage girls and women from proudly participating in sports at all levels from amateur to professional. The right by belittling women’s sports altogether or the left by pushing biological men into women’s sports.
*I read that only Olympic sport that could be fair under gender neutral rules is the equestrian events.
That’s because the horse is the actual athlete, not the rider.
Hard to beat someone who is on a better horse than yours, but with the same horse some riders can get better performance from it than others can.
Women are better at equestrian, because they are smaller.
You piqued my interest on equestrian events. Casting aside the role of the horse in such events I noticed that Equestrian is like a reverse STEM situation. The participants and trainers are predominately female. In some events the difference is over 90%.
Curiously, the activists have stayed away from using that sport to make their point.
I would need a daughter playing before I would have any interest and then I’d have to smile and pretend.
We had 3 daughters play sports. Everything from basketball to volleyball to soccer to badminton to slow pitch. Soccer was the worst for me to watch. Everything else ranged from watchable to downright exciting, especially the first two. Good competition at the zone, provincial & national levels.
My daughter is a tall girl and played basketball in high school. I went to and watched every game and they were excruciating at best. While I enjoyed supporting her and her friends, 19-10 is not exciting. I can’t even imagine watching it if she wasn’t involved.
I’ve enjoyed watching my girls play sports as much as my sons. There are obvious differences but sharing in the thrill in their victories and disappointment of their defeats is identical. Never had to pretend.
Choir and band, otoh….
I don’t entirely disagree but, as I said, would you watch those games if your own children weren’t involved?
I’m not a sports spectator by nature. I find the NHL, CFL, NBA, the Olympics, etc. just as boring to watch as amateur sports. If I won tickets to watch the best team or player, I’d sell the tickets.
Enjoyed playing sports and exercising though. Enjoyed sharing my enjoyment of playing sports and physical fitness with my kids.
Women have taken over the universities. 66.2% of college administrators are women and 33.8% of college administrators are men. Women have dominated college administration for decades. Their administrations are coterminous with the decline of American higher education.
Just 41% of students enrolled in a postsecondary institution in fall 2020 were men. For every man, there are now almost two women attending college:
In 1970, men outnumbered women in college, accounting for 59% of undergraduate enrollment in two-year institutions and 57% in four-year institutions. This was partly due to the high numbers of men enrolling for the purpose of avoiding conscription during the Vietnam War. In fact, the gender enrollment gap closed sharply as soon as the draft ended in 1973. By 1980, gender was perfectly balanced in four-year colleges, and women outnumbered men in two-year schools, accounting for 55% of enrollment in those institutions.
Since 1980, the female-to-male ratio in two-year college enrollment continued to increase until it hit about 1.4 in 1995, stabilizing at that point. The relative female-to-male ratio in four-year college enrollment, however, increased steadily throughout this time period, reaching 1.3 in the fall of 2019. At every level, men are graduating at lower rates than women. Men who enrolled in a four-year college in 2013 were ten percentage points less likely than women to graduate within 4 years.
Over 1.1 million women received a bachelor’s degree in the 2018-19 academic year compared to fewer than 860,000 men; put differently, about 74 men received a bachelor’s degree for every 100 women. Even fewer men graduate with an associate or master’s degree, relative to women. Doctoral degree conferral is the most gender-balanced, though even here 54% of degrees are conferred to women.
As women began to dominate, the universities became “woke”
Another ten years of this, and universities will be destroyed.
Women destroy that which they rule.
The Patriarchy pushes back the Wilderness and the Savage, builds and maintains infrastructure and economic systems, and shapes and defends civilization. It does this to create a safe environment for the Matriarchy to thrive.
The Matriarchy preserves, nurtures, and regenerates itself and the Patriarchy.
Neither can long survive without the other.
I coached my daughter … my eldest … for 4-years of competitive, high level, soccer U-14 thru U16. She was a very good ball distributing central midfielder, and my teams were very good. After her team, I coached my youngest sons competitive teams starting with U10. My U10 son at 8-1/2 years old ran circles around the U-16 girls. The speed and movement, and power of his shots made the girls look like they were running in molasses (despite being TWICE his size and weight).
Sorry, but the most aggressive and physically talented boys make the girls game look like utter rubbish. Slow, unskilled, lacking power, and lacking precision. The men can literally SHOOT the ball at their teammates at 60mph to pass opponents … and his teammate can cushion the ball dead at his feet, or redirected on one cushioned touch. The WC women’s successful passing statistics are just embarrassingly bad.
EVERYONE in soccer knows this. Knows that the women’s game is unwatchable FAIL. But nobody can say it out loud. You know why. They’d get cancelled.
Having said all that … coaching my girls was some of the most pleasurable years of my life … I loved my team, and took them on rafting trips, theme parks, and a number of “team-building” diversions. There was never a better group of young ladies than the girls I coached. They learned to be tough, and to always support each other. Every one of them has grown up to successful, well-adjusted adults. That meant more to me than winning trophies. In fact, some of the VERY BEST games my girls ever played were losses. Low-scoring Soccer can be cruel … but I always drove the point home … “it’s how you play the game” … not necessarily the result. Winning ugly is for creeps and losers. I’d tell my girls if we lost … that those other girls will all be working for you someday …
Of course, supporting your children makes it worthwhile but like I said, without one of your own in the mix, it’s highly unlikely you’d attend. There’s very few women’s sports that I’d watch and then only at the highest level and most important matches and soccer or basketball are not included. Tennis, USA vs Canada in hockey and beach volleyball … for obvious reasons.
Of the very little I’ve watched, the one observation I had is that women’s soccer has a lot more players getting beaned in the face than in men’s leagues.
And the goalkeeping is a bloody JOKE.
less diving in the woman’s game (either metric football or basketball)
FIFA has all but ended diving with immediate yellow cards given to divers … and the players will summarily ostracize any diver … Even Ronaldo is no exception. He’s a total bitch … but too irrelevant to care about anymore.
“He added, “And I read recently that Megan Rapinoe is in favor of men playing in women’s soccer now, and for once she and I agree — that is what it’s going to take to make it interesting.”
There was a transgender man playing soccer for the Canadian team in the recent world cup.
I was SO glad when the Australian team beat them 4-0, although I didn’t watch the game.
Note that Rapinoe didn’t say she’d like to see a transgender soccer player on the Spanish team … or the Japanese team … or the Columbia team. But she’d be OK with one on the US team. Of course she would … it’s the only way that crap team will have success again.
Watching a men’s team play soccer, and then watching a women’s team play soccer……is like watching the Olympics; and then sticking around as a lark to watch the Special Olympics.
Same for basketball.
