Jason Nixon, now back in the inner circle of the UCP government led by Premier Danielle Smith, says many of those he represents in the legislature, those around the Sundre, Rocky Mountain House and Rimbey area, feel abused by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
His attacks on Alberta, his attacks on the oilpatch. They are well past fed up.
Nixon doesn’t hold back, slamming Trudeau for treating different parts of the country differently.

We do know after Smith’s latest meeting with Trudeau, where he wouldn’t budge on his impossible oilpatch emission targets for the next seven years or a net-zero electricity grid in a dozen years, the Alberta premier did say the province’s sovereignty act could be triggered if Ottawa doesn’t compromise and show some sense of reality.
The sovereignty act, where Alberta would just not follow Trudeau’s orders.
If the premier defies Ottawa in the name of Alberta, Nixon is confident there would be widespread support for “any actions it will take to defend our province from a hostile prime minister and a hostile federal government.”
“The premier’s job, and she knows it and I completely support her, is to defend Albertans and not try to appease elites in eastern Canada,” says Nixon.
“That’s not her job. Her job is to defend Albertans and that’s what she’s going to do.”
Trudeau is importing hundreds of thousands of immigrant voters for a reason, Mr. Nixon.
Ontario is growing at over 500,000 per year (and it ain’t from babies).
AB, SK votes are being diluted. Lib/NDP do not care about you (AB, SK or rural anywhere).
AB’s votes are already diluted by having +130k citizens per MP while the Atlantic welfare strongholds and Sask/Man have 70-90K citizens per MP. The intergenerational welfare recipients in PEI have 40k citizens per MP
If AB had as many citizens per MP’s as PEI has, we’d have +110 MP’s and 105 of those would be Conservatives. Would that be ok with eastern Canada? of course not, but it’s permitted because none of the Atlantic Canada welfare strongholds would allow this to change.
In the Senate, Canada’s interprovincial discrepancies are even worse for AB and BC.
AB is better off separating, we’ll never be seen as equals in Canada, nor be given “fairness”.
It is that exact change that has to happen.
Otherwise, it is the dicktatorship (sic) of other provinces against Alberta.
The constitution of this country was designed to make sure that Q’bec rules the rest of Canada or at least has sort of self-rule that is not applied evenly across the provinces. The Canadian constitution is probably the worst constitution in the world on how to govern. It was designed by and for the bottom feeders that make large quantities of dollars, just because. It is beyond repair.
Canada actually needs new constitution that defines equality of provinces. It is too bad that it needs to be defined. Common sense is not as common as it used to be, as the song goes.
Canadian ‘Democracy’ is qualified and exclude actual democracy, it is sort of ‘Democracy’ for some and none for others.
This is easy to fix – well, except that no one wants to. Here’s how: switch voting power in the house from one man one vote to one voter, one vote. .e.g. suppose liberal A got elected with 5,000 votes while conservative B got elected with 40,000 votes – when a vote in the house comes up A’s yea gets counted 5,000 times; B’s Nay gets counted 40,000 times. This immediately redresses voting power in the country; implements a fair proportional voting scheme; and is easy to do -it needs nothing more than a rule change by the house rules committee. trivial – practically impossible, but trivial.

All Liberals know that the only significant capital comes from prairie resources. All Liberals know that their support base is in the east, and that they are hated on the prairies.
