The Telegraph- Major banks’ privacy policies allow them to monitor customers’ social media accounts

The country’s biggest banks have quietly introduced the right to monitor customers’ social media into their privacy policies, The Telegraph can disclose.
Despite public denials that they carry out checks on sites such as Facebook and Twitter, the four biggest high street lenders and several others have buried in the small print of their privacy policies that they may obtain information from social media accounts.

  1. Anyone who still has a social media account under their own name hasn’t been paying attention.

    1. I agree.

Some (e.g., Warren Kinsella) accuse those who don’t use their real names of being “anonymous cowards”, but I think it’s foolish in these politically overcharged times to take such an unnecessary risk. People’s lives have been destroyed due to their social media postings. Who knows what opinion will suddenly become problematic?

      1. I’ve had that accusation lobbed at me since the Internet started. I’ve been The Phantom since the 90s because I noticed the type of people calling me a coward also loved them some gun control and higher taxes. People like Warnout Kantsmellya.

Generally they do it when they have no answer to your point, to change the subject. Dishonest troll tactic. Set to ignore.

  2. Of course we’re living in Freedom + advanced democracy but if you dissent, we will block your accounts.

  3. Coming to the big 5 banks in Canada soon, if not already in place (who reads updated privacy policy statements?)

  4. National Socialists

That’s what we are dealing with folks, call em Commies or Nazi’s, same SHITE, different shade brown shirts.

Include Corporate Canada, MSM and your nosy effin neighbour.

I’m wondering what method of communication & payment system we should use after destroying our mobile phones..?

Ravens and a few bags of silver…?
    Worked for the Lannisters.. no?

  5. Blog comments are sure to follow. Saw it coming a mile away with the trucker protest in Ottawa and how our major banks tripped over themselves in their rush to stick it to the “troublemakers” at the behest of Trudeau.
Which is why I cashed out and swung it over to a credit union. Let’s just say they were none to happy with me…delays…outrageous wire transfer fees which the CU were only too happy to pay and other persnipptiness.
I don’t want to give away the name of the bank…but it starts with an R and ends in BC – Maybe you’ve heard of it.

    1. I’ve been with credit unions for decades. Much better service, community oriented, “small holders” like me are treated respectfully and offered opportunities, etc. Sometimes small is beautiful.

    2. Moved all of my investments out of bank with a T and a D in it. Also due to their fealty to our WEF govt.

  6. Just closed my TD accounts.

Supervisor was giggling while I explained how the loans officer ignored my line of credit application to pay for my wife’s funeral.

They are in your face about it now. But it could also be that her recent immigration to Canada showed her contempt for Canadians. I project, but it is the only thing which makes sense.

      1. Wash my hands of that bank and never darken its doors again. They used my money long enough, abused me once too often.
Christian Credit Union it is. 70 year history in AB…

  7. I only use a Credit Union, I’ve never used faceplant or twitterati, I did get caught up in linkedin, for about two weeks when I was more naive years ago. Deleted it as soon as I became aware of it’s malignancy. Don’t use Whatsapp or any other app promoted by the tech giants either. The only social media outlet I have, is SDA, and I’m happy to continue my quiet life away from all “social Apps”.

When you realize you are the product, it’s easy to discontinue using them.

    1. That’s also the essential problem with the Canadian health care system; that the patient is the product and not the customer.

  8. So … if I don’t have a “rescue” cat picture posted … but have a pure bred cat picture … I’ll get my bank accounts cancelled? Because only “rescue” pets are allowed in our “Democracy”? What … my example is over the top and ridiculous? Why? Once Banks are made the shock troops of totalitarian government … then ALL State edicts and methods of control become fair game.

  9. My issue with banks is when I send a wire transfer they want to know why? I’ve dealt with the same bank, the same person, for over 20 years and she says she has to ask “what is the money for?”. Why, you ask? In case I’m laundering money. If I was I would have a darn good reason for the wire transfer. They don’t seem to understand that people who launder money also lie about wire transfers.

The next issue will be should they let you borrow or transfer money if you aren’t active on social media?

  10. Bitching about your government or anything of a political nature under your own name with your picture beside it is DUMB.. At least make them work to find you.. Slap them with some overhead and they will not be so eager to please their loan masters..

They will push it back to the government who will of course drop it because they are subject to freedom of information’s acts..
IMO a sitting duck is asking for a entry level button pusher to come get them..

  11. Meh.History repeating.
Every time the parasites destroy a unit of exchange,we have dusted ourselves off, created a new unit of trade amongst those we trust and excluded the thieves..
What will be the new unit?
    Depends.
Various “notes” have been used over the years, usually the freeloaders make every effort to make their “notes” the most convenient to use and the least hassle to exchange…
But it is a very fine line.
    VISA is a perfect example.
They became so greedy and expensive to use, that some merchants advertised that they will not accept VISA.
Our Bankers are now doing the same.
Using their “services” is expensive and intrusive..
Soon enough all trades will only accept cash or trade.
    E transfer? Are you nuts?
When The State of Thuggery feels that it can take control of your private banking..all bets are off.
The damage done by Trudeau and his minions will eventually destroy the Canadian banks.
Their services will never be more valuable than the trust they destroyed.
For now? Gold ,Silver and mixed calibre rounds..
The last being the most valuable in a collapse of confidence..

Except I have every confidence in our Kleptocrats..They will continue to steal and strongarm, until their bitter end.
See? I have trust in my government..
    Inspired by their own actions.
