I have long advocated for Saskatchewan and Alberta to leave Confederation. Since joining in 1905, eastern Canada (Ontario, Quebec and the mooching Maritimes) have treated the 2 prairie provinces as their own personal piggy banks (it is “odd” that both AB and SK are both “have” provinces and yet Quebec is not and needs more and more money every year!) I lived in Ontario for 25 years and when I would tell people where I grew up and went to university, they would look at me with pity. When the populations of those provinces DO think about us, they think we all just fell off the turnip truck and are evangelical Christians.
When are the politicians of Alberta and Saskatchewan (perhaps part of Manitoba could be included as well!) going to “wake up” and put up firewalls and start exercising more of the provincial responsibilities?

I have a neighbour who moved in last year and twice now his young daughters have knocked on my door looking for free money.

We live in a small town adjacent to another smaller community. The latter has had five fires in the past week or so. The most recent, today, required the volunteer FFs from three communities to knock it down before it got into the forest itself.
