Embrace Hollywood!

“Democrats need to embrace Hollywood because this is where they need to come to learn how to tell a story.“ – Michael Moore

Former Paramount CEO Barry Diller delivered a grim prediction for Hollywood on Sunday, warning that the industry is facing an “absolute collapse” if the Writers’ and Screen Actors Guild joint strike extends into the fall.

“What will happen is, if in fact, it doesn’t get settled until Christmas or so, then next year, there’s not going to be many programs for anybody to watch. So, you’re gonna see subscriptions get pulled, which is going to reduce the revenue of all these movie companies, television companies, the result of which is that there will be no programs,” Diller said on CBS’ “Face the Nation” Sunday. “And at just the time, [the] strike is settled that you want to get back up, there won’t be enough money.”

Well, that’s a story I suppose.

    1. Kate needs to do an upvote thing.
I’d give you 100 votes for that one.
I can vote that many times as I identify as a Democrat.

    2. DrD – related? Martha Stewart is on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue this month. You’ve been warned.

      I give her credit, she’s 81.

  1. Didn’t he tell the actors they are asking for too much from the billionaires party he flew to on his private jet? Because the optics would look bad. At least the Finnish Finance Minister got out of her limousine 100 m before the entrance and got on a bike. This guy is preaching parsimony from the door of his private jet. And then golfing with the head of Disney. And we ain’t invited.

  2. “there’s not going to be many programs for anybody to watch”
    What?

Hollywood has produced 27,000 movies and 877,000 TV shows.
I like British, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Bollywood if I manage to run out.
    I just may survive.
With that in mind Hollywood can commit suicide for all I care.

    1. Yup. “I’m the only game in town” doesn’t work well when there’s something called “the internet” available. Just don’t expect to get good Canadian news on social(ist) media.

  3. On the bright side for them, Disney will lose less money with a full strike than they will continuing to trying to force-feed us their “entertainment for kids”.

  4. I’m not seeing any bad news here whatsoever. Hollywood getting a sh*t-kicking? The preachy scum who want to bring us alternative lifestyles and global warming BS? “Faster pussycat; Kill, Kill.”

The hilarious part in all this is that most of California’s film industry will be unaffected by the strike. Far more people work in the state’s porn industry than in its mainstream movie business. It will be amusing to see if anyone moves from the conventional to the porn side of the business.

Yup. Hollywood’s dirty secret. They may as well build a tunnel between San Fernando Valley and Hollywood.
There’s a lot of technical expertise that goes into making a video…electricians, sound, directors, camera operators, makeup…yada yada.
If you’re out of a job in Hollywood because of shooting delays let’s say…you can always get a job in the porn industry to help pay your rent.

  5. Gosh! That would be aweso…I mean, awful!

Like, what would I do without all the shit I don’t watch????

  6. The WOKE writers and actors have driven Hollyweird straight into a ditch. So much of a ditch that the Industry can no longer afford the luxurious salaries and benefits lavished upon every UNION scale worker. Ohhhhhhhhhhh mommmaaaaaaa … I feel so, so, sorry for the WOKE Industrial complex. And esp. Hollywood who churn out revisionist history leftist interpretation of historic pics … and make it appear as though EVERYONE is gay and takes it up the ass … hourly!

May the two sides NEVER settle

  7. Not so.. Now we get to see who has talent and who is a pretty parrot.. Stand up in font of 1000 people and entertain them.. Do you really think?.. The greats from before the 1990s needed writers to bring the house down..

No, they had charisma and talent to spare.. Bring it on and lets get rid of the dead wood..

    1. What? You mean to tell me Kristin Stewart ISN’T a highly talented … artist?

Who else can bring a vampire to life, like she can? With nothing more than a ‘look’ … the same and only ‘look’

  8. And a great and powerful shrug of apathy was felt across the entire anglosphere.

Hollywood vastly overestimates their importance to society. Not being able to watch new movies and tv shows barely impacts most people. There’s thousands of old shows to watch and the old pre-woke, pre-ESG productions are better anyway.

  9. There just isnt a big enough market for Satanic Pedophiles and the movies they produce.
    Too bad so sad.
    Eff pedophile Hollywood.

  10. The tv was on the Hamilton Ontario station today. Watched “Gilligan’s Island” (in black and white!), Hawaii 5-O (the original), “Cheers” and “Happy Days”. Good stuff. New stuff – who cares anymore?

  11. I suspect you’ll see a fair amount of non-union, independent flicks…
That may be good. That may be bad.
I seriously doubt that “Hollywood” will go away. It has long reaching tentacles and lots of money.

  12. Why should the Democrats go to Hollywood to learn to tell a story?
Hollywood has been producing bad remakes, boring and predictable sequels, and over the top Preachy Scams for as long as I can remember.
At least the Dem stream of lies and fantasies (Jan 6, 81 million votes, etc) have a tiny shred of originality, if not truth.
And unlike Hollywood, they keep comin’ up with new fictions!
They are much better at fantasy/fiction than Hollow wood.

  13. As an added bonus, canaduhs “artistic” community in Vancouver and Toronna are dying too. No trash Hallmark movies to film.

  14. If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there, does it make a sound? I haven’t consumed western enterntainment for decades. I’v been reading, listening and watching japanese productions all this time. It’s far better and they are not going on strike ever.

    1. I agree with you Avary. I like watching the Korean entertainment. It’s fun, entertaining, they have original storylines and they don’t try to preach to me.
