On goobermint forms, if there’s a place to fill out ethnicity and there’s the bog standard, “Are you a Native American?” I always check the “Yes” box. Anything else would be a lie.
The way the language has been corrupted is that non-Native American means your ancestors came from somewhere else, like Ireland, Poland, Italy, etc.
Guess what? The ancestors of the people called Native Americans came from someplace else, too. It was just a bit longer time ago than most peoples’ forebears.

This was a long campaign starting in 1834. It should be noted that some 2,000 British servicemen lost their lives in the pursuit of this campaign. It succeeded in completely eradicating the seaborne slave trade and also in destroying slave factories in west Africa regardless of the nation or company which controlled them.

“Our home on native land”? Slap the *****. The last change was bad enough. Of course, I’ve heard before hockey games in Ottawa, they announce that the rink is on stolen land so what can we expect? I, too, meet every definition of native.
The head office of the company I work for is located on the traditional lands of the mississauga, which was ceded to the Crown in 1787, and then again in 1805, and then a third time in 1923, and finally in 2010 they received yet another payment totalling $145 million, which of course doesn’t mean that it’s settled…
I’d ask that they first figure out which tribes land we’re on. The one that was there when European’s started to arrive, or the ones that were wiped out and enslaved by that tribe before the European’s arrived. I think it’s racist to treat them all as if they are one identical group.
