The new CEO of Cenovus, Canada’s second largest oil producer and Saskatchewan’s largest (after they bought Husky during the COVID pandemic), tells it like it is. There’s a healthy dose of reality in his comments, but Cenovus is also leading the charge for carbon capture in the oilsands. He also likes the idea of nuclear reactors usage in the oilsands.

Research degrowrh movement and it will inform where this agenda is leading us. Just say no !
Agree with every one of his remarks here. He didn’t deal with net-zero, but it doesn’t really matter. This policy objective is a complete fraud. What he is really addressing is a need for a synergy of all forms of energy production including oil, gas and nuclear. What is interesting is what he excludes: solar and wind. These two have already demonstrated their inadequacy.
What should be obvious is that what he outlines here is in complete agreement with what the government of Saskatchewan is already doing.
The shit for solar and wind requires massive inputs of energy from fossil fuels. Those who do not grasp this should be too stupid to breathe.
Obvious truth to libtards is like garlic wrapped mirrors to a vampire
Life is short.
Sounds like music to the ears of Canada’s Global Warming Marxists
Guys like this play within the frame hoping the alligator isn’t going to eat them (or will at least eat them last).
They’re a bit shitlib in their explicit understanding. I suspect behind the scenes they speak much differently, but it’s hard to know from interviews like this.
The cold, tired, hungry and scared are much easier to rule. Their destroyed productivity from repressed society is of no consequence to Laurentian elites and other late entrants to the power of fascism game because they get their cut no matter the citizens’ circumstances.
Lost your job? FU, pay me.
Taxes destroying your bottom line? FU, pay me.
Your only remaining tax free wealth is your principal residence. FU, pay me.
Inflation makes you unable to feed your family. FU, pay me.
Maybe you think government should work for the people, not the government? FU, insurrectionist, 18 years for you.
We wouldn’t need 90% of our present state (aka involuntary government) if we didn’t have to regulate and improve society.
How else could politicians enrich themselves other than to wage war as their ultimate raison d’etre.
By their skill, their common sense, their business acumen, their connection with the little people? Nope.
Without progressives, statists, collectivist, despots and totalitarians (but I repeat myself), we wouldn’t be able to wage war.
Surely their taxation, inflation and war is for the greener good. I mean greater good, a greener leap forward. No wait – racist.
Nothing but incoherent gibberish from you, like always. None of what you wrote had anything to do with what the Cenovus CEO actually said in his interview.
I objected to the ripoff from Goodfellas.
How are our present statist apparatchiks any different from the Lucchese crime family? Your money is theirs, an outrage to be violently punished if you don’t pay up, to be bled blindly, as enemies of the state, and the local shylock Guido, would agree.
Except the mafia doesn’t bleed their marks to death. They’re not quite that stupid or ruthless; statists hide the bodies better too.
CS, you are right to so object. Everything about Shamrock is objectionable. He’s an empty bag of wind, shrieking mindlessly, beating his fists against the wall because no one cares about him or his absence of thought.
Your illiteracy, ignorance and idiocy is your problem alone. The bereft of facts sucks to be you buck stops at you, so stop projecting.
Most humans know they can’t actually read minds. Maybe because your is so empty, bereft of intellect, you mistake your pitiful mindless machinations for the thoughts of others who unlike you, think before proving their idiocy with their out loud voices.
Words are cheap. Action is what matters.
And I would expect more of the same, especially with the previous CEO Alex Pourbaix, or Alpo as he is derisively known by Cenovus employees, still part of their leadership team.
Alpo was a major cheerleader for the destruction of industry and a zealot of the anti-scientific lie of AGW.
If Cenovus was serious about changing their direction, they would leave the Pathways Alliance – the oilsands companies that have pledged to reduce harmless emissions that the watermelons label “greenhouse gas”, despite the fact that they are not.
While traitors lead our largest oil and gas companies, expect nothing but disappointment after disappointment on the horizon.
Processing oil requires lots of thermal energy, so using nuclear power for its heat (and generating power as a secondary output) makes a lot of sense, though I expect the watermellons to start screaming about irradiated oil, they same way they are opposed to using gamma rays for food safety…
You are correct. The United Arab Emirates agrees with you, which is a large part of the reason why they built for large nuclear power reactors. Saudi Arabia wants to do the same thing. We may have watermelons here, but they have very limited significance in the Gulf States.
Cenovus, like all the oil companies, have embraced ‘green energy’ and ‘carbon capture’ as a means of survival. They will investigate these ideologies and put some effort into trying them out, but they are very aware of the reality that a reliable source of energy is required for mankind to thrive, and that wind power and solar aren’t the answer. But they’re playing the long game, keeping under the radar until the idiocy of “green energy” sufficiently enrages voters so governments have to rescind their idiotic dictats.
Good on him. I’m a contented shareholder.
