Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I think most sane people realized that when Harper was voted out. Canada is not a serious country and hasn’t been for as long as I can remember and I can remember Pearson as PM.
And please for the love of God realize that zero Canadian political executives appear on any ballot anywhere. They are all appointed!
My father and his family escaped from Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution and after the Povolzhye famine of 1921/22. When I was younger, he would often say that “Canada isn’t a country”….of course when you are young, you “know everything” and I thought he was nuts. Turns out he was deeply insightful….that’s what living in reality does to you.
It’s true. A country is defined by its history, culture and social connection, as well as geography. Canada is weak in those areas. What little sense of identity we tried to foster has been effectively snuffed out by the Liberals. Vancouver will no longer have a “Canada Day”, but rather a “Canada Together”, but the lack of a national focus, a sense of shared identity makes “together” pretty meaningless.
History, culture, and social connection … and Land?
Sounds like Canada is “Reconciling” the “Truth” of its History. You’re a NATIVE only nation now! Woo hoo! Now let’s do the same to every other country in the world. I suspect you’re gonna meet some resistance in communist China. They’re not going back to The Emperors … peacefully.
Canada is not a serious country and I can remember Pearson
Macdonald was a raging alcoholic who famously threw up on the stage of a political rally.
Mackenzie King ran the government on the advice of his dead Irish Terrier, which in turn channelled the spirit of his dead mother.
The current incumbent is the issue of two mentally unstable people.
There have been some PMs who were not overly encumbered by mental/emotional infirmities, but they are not, I think, in the majority.
A slight quibble. The story of McDonalds vomiting (which may have happened more than once) was recorded in Pierre Berton’s book about the CPR. Edward Blake, famed Liberal orator, was going on and on. McDonald was downing gin, cleverly disguised as water. After reaching a state of inebriation, McDonald famously vomited over the desk onto the carpet. He stood up and apologized to the House stating, to certain effect, , Mr. Speaker I apologize but the speaking of the Member opposite causes my stomach to wretch’. Not an exact quote but I think many of us have self similar effects when we hear the current PM blather on.
Quibbles always gratefully accepted.
I read the story about MacDonald somewhere else. You wouldn’t believe where. But I’ll tell you anyway. In a children’s book about Canada that I’d purchased from my elementary school through Scholastic Book Services, (Arrow/Tab).
I have know idea what this book’s sources were. The quote I remember reading, (obviously this was many decades ago), was “I beg your pardon, that fellow makes me sick.”
I still have the book somewhere. Unfortunately, PET was PM at the time of publication, and his caricature adorned the front cover.
Dear God make it so, and may a new, fully armed Canadian Republic rise in its place.
Most if not all of the self-destructive nonsense in the collective west today is the result of government money printing. Most normal people have no concept of modern monetary mechanics, but if governments could spend only what they were able to take in through taxes, and if banks could only lend out what they can take in through deposits, the insanity would come to an abrupt halt.
Debt-based fiat money printing is to power elites what heroin is to an addict. There’s no restraint, no common sense, no thought for the future, no concern for preserving what makes an economy productive and sustaining.
But like a spendthrift living off an inheritance, one day the insane profligacy of western governments will have to end.
That’s likely the best kept secret in the west and all true.
A good part of this “dying” is actually suicide. Will watch this.
Must agree with the suicide assessment, Eric.
I honestly can’t believe how many people are fully on board with safe injection sites and decriminalization and legalization. Unless you actually have to live near one of these sh!t magnets, then you probably aren’t on board with it. But keep living in your safe suburban gated communities and voting for policies that make everyone else suffer the consequences. Or worse, keep living in these areas, knowing full well how bad it is, and keep voting for policies proven many times over to fail again and again.
The faster this country tanks the better. Going to be some hard years but if it happens soon some of us may live long enough to see the other side.
The faster this country tanks the better
Yeah, it sounds counterintuitive I know but it’s kind of the way I feel right now. Rip the bandaid off, see what shakes out.
“Unless you actually have to live near one of these sh!t magnets, then you probably aren’t on board with it.”
Stabbings aren’t a problem until one of their neighbors gets stabbed.
It’s very simple. You get more of what you allow and less of what you don’t and if you go beyond allowing to encouraging, all hell breaks loose.
Not worth the time to watch. It has been growing for a long time now. Either do something or S T F U.
Do tell what you are doing, then.
Beyond calling us stupid, that is.
Peace.
Are you stupid? If not you need take no offence. Does the remark make you feel stupid? That would be your problem. I have done all that an old man can do and did as much as possible as a young man. Sadly like always, I stand alone.
There is no action we can take. Period.
We can talk about and around every issue until the day we die, but there is nothing we can do.
Nothing.
And that’s because we don’t understand the problem. And the problem is that “we” aren’t the problem. “They” are the problem. And “they” is more than one thing.
It is akin to us arguing over who is our enemy. Is it the guys holding the whips? The guys who provide the slop? The pilot? The captain? The galley owners?
It’s all of them – working in concert.
While we, the slaves, keep rowing under the delusion that we are free and just need to make a few tweaks to the system. The system can’t be reformed, nor should anyone try to do so. Our only hope is the complete destruction of the system. To never again be replaced with any other system. It is the very existence of a system that allows parasites to rule over us, and for leeches to share our productivity. Were this ever to become reality, we’d all exist on the right of the political spectrum.
And those on the left would simply die off due to reality.
This would not be a bad thing.
But unfortunately, enough people cry out, “Give us a king!”. And therefore God allows it.
The Frogs were tired of governing themselves. They had so much freedom that it had spoiled them, and they did nothing but sit around croaking in a bored manner and wishing for a government that could entertain them with the pomp and display of royalty, and rule them in a way to make them know they were being ruled. No milk and water government for them, they declared. So they sent a petition to Zeus asking for a king.
Zeus saw what simple and foolish creatures they were, but to keep them quiet and make them think they had a king he threw down a huge log, which fell into the water with a great splash. The Frogs hid themselves among the reeds and grasses, thinking the new king to be some fearful giant. But they soon discovered how tame and peaceable King Log was. In a short time the younger Frogs were using him for a diving platform, while the older Frogs made him a meeting place, where they complained loudly to Zeus about the government.
To teach the Frogs a lesson the ruler of the gods now sent a Crane to be king of Frogland. The Crane proved to be a very different sort of king from old King Log. He gobbled up the poor Frogs right and left and they soon saw what fools they had been. In mournful croaks they begged Zeus to take away the cruel tyrant before they should all be destroyed.
“How now!” cried Zeus, “Are you not yet content? You have what you asked for and so you have only yourselves to blame for your misfortunes.”
And the ones complaining about all this. Most will march down next election, after election, and vote for the governments that are a big part of the problem.

In the words of Dan Bongino. It just hasn’t gotten bad enough yet for people to vote for change.
