  1. There are more recent parrallels: Iraq has undeclared WMD, genocide in the Donbas, Ukrainian bioweapons labs, etc.

There is V Foster, for about 15 years he had stuck a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger, the coroners, report said so, then some one dug up the body.

  2. I hope Dust off joins the thread, since it’s about Vietnam.

    I was in A Co. 1/12th 4th Inf. Div. 7 may 1969 to 7 May 1970 . MOS 11B10P.

    What unit were you in?

    1. 57th medical detachment. Tan son nhut 1971 to 72.

      (flight medic)

We were the first Dustoff units. Capt Kelly

      1. Thanks for responding.

From November 69 until i left, i was the platoon medic, but was not awarded the secondary MOS.

        You were a captain?

        1. You were a captain?

          You mean a pilot. NO.
Flight medics are enlisted. I left as a SGT after my tour.

  3. Small bit of good news on a gloomy, gloomy Monday. Disney’s Indiana Jones 5 appears to be poorly-received by initial reviwers:
    https://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2023/05/20/indiana-jones-and-the-dial-of-destiny-is-reviewing-worse-than-fast-x-kingdom-of-the-crystal-skull-after-cannes-premiere/

The kicker is that Disney test-marketed the first cut of the film last October — a cut that had the usual woke trappings in it — and the test audiences hated it. So Disney did extensive re-shoots, including bringing back principal actors, that pushed the final budget to $500-million. The extensive rewrites to reduce the p-c drivel turned the final cut into a royal mess. Crappy CGI doesn’t help either.

  4. Did SDAers miss the CBC interview with Rosie Barton and (In)Justice Minister David Lametti yesterday? He said his just-announced bail reforms are limited given that the Supreme Court might not like seeing violent street gang members suffer without bail:
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/lametti-bail-reform-constitution-limits-1.6850914

Plus, the Liberal-NDP government is about to introduce legislation reducing jail time for visible minorities, limiting the bail reforms to 5 percent of the population.

    1. I didn’t see it and I don’t miss the CBC.

Actually I got rid of my TVs 10 years ago. Don’t miss it at all.

    1. I enjoyed my trip to Italy in 1996. Saw Rome, Florence, Pisa, and Venice.

Lots of interesting Roman history, but the cities were very dirty and the countryside was full of garbage.

My dad, who visited Italy in the mid-fifties had the same observations.

    1. DB, no matter how many times the absurdity is pointed out people still do not get it. Cost analysis was done before the first monstrosity was ever built. There was an understandable point made at the time. It cost 5 units of energy for a wind turbine that would only ever produce 4 units.

    1. And the first comment on the story is “Jean” stating that Notley is the only one to keep pipelines being built.

How many oil tanker railcars are there sitting in yards rusting away which Notley purchased to help fund Warren Buffet’s rail lines? 100’s???

    2. DB – I am certain she will be boisterously opposed to a great deal of what Jagmeet is doing , at least until 15 seconds after the election closes.

    1. RedPop – I couldn’t help but think – more faster. But instead I will offer a solution – Maybe the should incentivize some of those Dutch farmers they are kicking off their land to come and help. I believe they solved being under sea level. The absurdity never ends.

  6. Alberta election coming up.
Remind the people who moved to Conservative Alberta to find work because Liberals or NDP governments ruined the economies where they lived that it would be stupid to vote for the same leftwing policies that forced them to leave home.

Don’t worry about hurting their feelings, they’ll be fine..
