Just in time for millions of new electric stoves: NNew York has “No Plan B” for the power plants they’re shutting down
“At an IPPNY convention in the fall, DEC commissioner Basil Seggos was asked how the state planned to “bridge” the gap until renewable power comes online.
“Listen, I don’t think there is a plan B, alright,” Seggos said. “And I mean that seriously about our opportunity right now, I don’t think we have a plan B. I think that we are on the edge right now when it comes to global climate change and emissions, I really firmly believe that. So we have one shot to get this right. That’s what makes this so challenging.”

There’s always a bright side.
At least the bodies of all those New Yawkers that freeze to death in Winter won’t start smelling putrid until Spring.
“It’s Springtime! Bring out your dead.”
And climate change causes both warming and extreme cold, so as deaths rise from the cold and lack of electricity, that will be proof of climate change killing more people and they’ll double down on the lunacy like a Venezuelan dictator.

Governments never let reality get in the way of their idiocy.
One potential death from a climate change model is a tragedy, thousands of actual deaths from energy poverty/blackouts in the winter is a statistic.
Worst political class in generations, maybe the worst in history.
There is no plan anywhere to replace base power, period. The goal is to kill and impoverish as many people as possible leaving only enough to act as slaves for the global elitists and their corporate allies, keeping them in the lifestyle to which they are accustomed. It is evil and tyrannical – a return to the feudal system sponsored by the descendants of the Rockefellers and the Rothschilds and it has been planned since the creation of central banking in Europe. It is a small club, meeting currently in the Bildeberg conclaves this week, and we are not invited.
No Plan B?
Good.
Like the climate fraud change, fueled by false virtue. How’s that working for you? Put all the cities on wind turbines and solar panels.
The debate will end once and for all and the entitled to their entitlements tolerant intolerant metropolitans get a reality check.
One of many faked narratives and statist scapegoating progressing to collectivism cretins substitute for proper leadership and judgment.
Wow. The last blackout in New York City in 2003 lasted less than a day. In 2003 it was resolved quickly because there was lots of power being generated, it was mostly a matter of cutting a few trees in Ohio and resetting tripped generators. When the generators aren’t turning it’s going to be a very different matter. Unfortunately, Ontario’s grid is tied into the Eastern USA’s power grid. In 2003 Toronto and Ottawa were blacked out along with New York.
I wonder what the other states tied into New York’s power grid will do? Will they shut off the power into New York’s grid to keep their own citizens’ light and heat on? Or will they build more nukes and sell their megawatts to New York for a huge profit?
I’m budgeting for a diesel generator and a big fuel tank this year, because I know Ontario Power Generation is going to screw this up, it’s what they do best.
Make sure you use black out curtains or your ‘unwanted’ neighbours just might show up with an extention cord demanding you keep their lights on for them.
Stealth is the name of the game, keep that genny quiet and hidden.
There will never be enough electricity to power all that needs to be powered.
I just watched documentary that explains the extreme shortage of the minerals and metals needed to built said batteries and windmills. Don’t forget, Elon plans to build giant batteries to offest the power outs in whole communities.
In short these climate clowns do not know what they are doing.
This net zero plan it going to face plant within the next 10 years.
Don’t buy an EV just yet. The Japs have a better idea …. Toyota is going full on hydrogen power. Looks good so far.
New York, getting what they voted for. Excellent.
Best part, it is too far for the zombie hordes of NYC to walk to Canada in the winter.
You guys need to build an ice wall.
Phantom, agreed. With the sole exception of Rudi Giuliani, New York has had an unbroken string of Democrats for Mayor since 1950. For all practical purposes, New York is a one-party state, both State and City. They will get what they deserve.
Well,New York does brag about the size of their rats.
I just hope they like their rat raw.
Amazing how quickly city life can collapse without electricity, especially reliable affordable electricity.
De-industrialize first then wonder what happened. The consciously evil pointy heads know what they are doing. It’s their voting Eloi that haven’t a clue.

Messing with the New York grid could take out the entire east coast. As the grid tries to meet demands in New York state, it’s going to overload and trip things all through Quebec and Ontario and neighboring states. Perhaps that’s the real strategy.
Crippling the grid like this should be seen as a national security threat in both countries.
Will bet you a bottle of your favourite whiskey that China’s move against Taiwan will be preceded by a major blackout in the eastern US and Canada.
“it’s going to overload and trip things all through Quebec and Ontario and neighboring states.”
No. Grid operations are designed to isolate sections in the event of blackout and brownout. That’s exactly what happened in the great August blackout in 2003. The grid will not “try” to meet demands in New York State. NYPA will have to find the resources to meet its own needs, as no grid can sustain baseload demand over prolonged periods from another jurisdiction. So if NYPA can’t meet its load demand, New York state is as doomed as Detroit was starting in 1969.
It’s for these sorts of reasons that Germany’s neighbors have provisions in place to isolate themselves from the possibility of German grid collapse in a shortage of power.
So you can all die to “save the planet”. Got a problem with that?
“No plan B”
What an idiot!
From somewhere on the web: they’re jumping out of the plane, hoping the parachute will be invented.
