How Big Was the Trucker Protest?

Donna Laframboise;

Having covered landowner protests and dairy farmer protests previously, he knew the drill. Journalists are supposed to talk to people. “I basically went around and said, ‘Why are you here? Why are you here?'” to Freedom Convoy participants. Some of his reporting “kind of got circulated a bit,” he says, which attracted “the online hate crowd.”

A tall, physically imposing man who’s been targeted by animal rights activists in the past, Ian says he isn’t easily intimidated. But the vitriolic blowback – including death threats to the company that prints the Ontario Farmer – was a shock to other staff members.

    1. I don’t think he’s saying at the protest, he’s saying blowback for publishing anything even somewhat positive about the protest. If you didn’t publish protest bad, protestors white misogynists, you felt the wrath of the liberal woke crowd.

    2. So fill us in?
      You saw what?
      From what observation post?
Took what pictures with your electronic devises..
Any particular reason a reader should just take your word for this?

The under reporting by our government funded media was cute.
      As Viva Frey demonstrated.
      Leaving us a legacy..
“Is that true? Or did you hear it on CBC/Global?”

    3. We now live in an era where the official truth can only be that reported by the official media. Everything else is deemed untrue.

    4. I was also there, but not at that particular moment. When I went, there were very large crowds and they spanned a significant distance. Moreover at the time of the convoy, 50% (roughly) of Canadians supported their goals. (This is from a survey taken in late January, but can’t remember the pollster.) Views changed somewhat when the media chose to dump on the Truckers, rather than helping people understand their cause and reasons for particpating. The media remains dishonest about the convoy. Ottawa politicians were also pretty pathetic in their response.

    5. I was there too! Exactly which claims are you saying is nonsense?

The 400 or so trucks parked in front of Parliament was just the tip of the iceberg.
There were trucks parked in the MacDonald-Cartier parkway, trucks parked by the baseball stadium on Coventry, trucks parked along the Quebec side of the river…

Also, many reports have corroborated the estimated crowd size on the hill, so exactly which claims do you consider to be nonsense?

  1. That was excellent. The Trucker Freedom Convoy truly was a moment of pride for Canadians. Sadly, it also revealed the pettiness and hypocrisy of our leaders and the nastiness of most main stream media.

  2. $10 million in less than a week,twice .
    Tells the real story.
The shock, greed and offence taken,by all of our entitled parasites, resulted in the government attempting to seize(Thats steal) these funds .
And the Cons to attempt to fund raise ,on the backs of the truckers.

    Fundraisers were shocked.
For the Parties and their professional fundraisers have not raised this amount in a year,in years.
Political parties were terrified and insanely jealous.
For Canadians gave generously to the first real political opposition group to arise in Canada since Reform.

And the political animals know what this means.
    Their goose is cooked.
A pox on all their heads and houses.
As a consequence all of the Uni-Party has sought to denigrate and minimize the Trucker Protest..it ain’t just CBC.

  3. The difference between Trucker-supporters, and Trucker- haters can be summarized by the authors simple, logical, rationale:

“You never pissed any of those people off because they were crucial to you making a living.”

The Trucker-haters need to feel what it’s like when the Truckers “essential services” go away. I don’t believe they’d be very happy.

  4. Thank you to the people that made huge sacrifices. At least for a moment I didn’t feel alone and insane. Make no mistake, the propaganda against the truckers was effective. I don’t know where things proceed from here, but at least we know there is a not insignificant portion of people who understand the extent of the evil that continues. I don’t see a way out of this by voting. Maybe the day supermarket shelves are empty, or the electricity is shut off, or they lockup people for their thoughts, or they take the use of their car ,maybe ,just maybe, the majority will understand.

    1. Concerned,
I really like this response for a few reasons.

      1. Many people did make huge sacrifices for that protest and it cost some a lot more than it should have and not in monetary terms.
      2. The propaganda against the truckers was incredibly effective which makes me fear that people will hesitate to take action in the future. This protest made me realize how far our Gov’t will go to shape the narrative for the masses.
      3. I’m with you on the voting. Even with empty shelves, no power, etc., I don’t think the majority will clue in.

      Cheers!
      Kelley

  5. Next?
    A withdrawal of services,announced or un-announced.
Which is happening already right across the country.
    “We just can’t find workers”.
Truckers from outside Ontario need to consider the risk of serving Ontario markets.
Truckers inside need to access their hazards under Fat Fords new rules.
Got to hand it to that Fat Phoney,he sure showed us his NDP heart.

Time for a few of them East West Trains to get safety checks, from the Provincial Authorities..as the Federals nominally responsible cannot be trusted..Too many trains run through Western towns,Safety First..
Federal Incompetence puts us all at extreme risk, why we might get burned alive,if we leave them in charge..
Maybe some shiny new Hog Farms at each border crossing, ain’t Wee Willie up for parole soon?
We could use his expertise for treating federal ferals.
And the Chinese market for pork products is ever growing..
