  1. “Until AIs stop making stuff up, I’m not sure I want to trust them with my search results.” Quoth the article.

As opposed to reporters and editors making stuff up, right? Or plagiarizing it from some other schmuck who made it up.

ChatGTP is a -robot-. It runs an algorithm. Like a pocket calculator or a digital watch. It will be no better and no worse than the team of Silicon Valley Leftists who programmed it and the samples it was trained on.

Consider that if you train a neural-network AI bot on Encyclopedia Britannica, it will give you back what’s in Encyclopedia Britannica. And that’s all.

If it isn’t in there, the bot can’t give it to you. And if it -is- in there, the bot -must- give it to you. Therefore, that bot will mindlessly regurgitate every error, falsehood and “editorial opinion” contained within Encyclopedia Britannica. Which, if memory serves, leans pretty hard Left these days. Winston Smith works for them, right?

This has already been amply demonstrated by the guy who trained a “Right Wing” version of ChatGPT. It gave very different answers to standard questions than the “regular” aka hard-core Lefty version.

ChatGPT will be worse than Wikipedia for Left-leaning disinformation. For sure. You will be dumber and less informed after using it. Unless what you were looking for is the Official Narrative about that subject. Then you’ll be spot on.

    1. Bullshit

The Truth is hard to find now. It will be impossible once AI takes over, nobody will know what the truth is on any topic.

Sorting out lying, stupid, misinformed journalists from where the actual truth lies is child’s play compared to what is coming with AI.

Once every book at the library has been digitized think the truth will be self evident??

  2. Search.. Why is it cold outside and notice that “Global Warming is real” is the top result.. It doesn’t matter what engine you use..
ChatGPT is a search engine that can talk.. That’s somehow offensive when it hits your ears or the little letters appear one at a time?..

We are swimming in politics and bull scht.. Vested interest monopolies.. A talking sex toy that walked out of the fetid swamp is no different than any other source of information we have.. Correct depending on who you ask or wrong depending on who you threaten or offend..

Will we let MSNBC of FOX news run the world?.. I hope not..

  3. Better FOX than CBC!
    Or Global!
    Or CTV!
Or MSNBC, CNN, or any of the others.
If a revolution is ever started the media has to go first, and then, the politicians and then their foolowers.

  4. Does ChatGPT and other AIs make stuff up at a higher or lower rate than the media in general?

  5. “It is all bullshit and it is bad for you”
    George Carlin.
The joy of a Talking Oracle, that repeats your own beliefs is inherently attractive to weak minds.

Has always been that way,so much so that powerful persons in years gone by,hired critics to remind them that they were mortal and fallible.

The old computer programming acronym of G.I.G.O is true.
Except the gullible hear Gospel Out mistaking Garbage for Gospel?
    That is what Progressive’s do.

Human Nature..The Gods of the Copybook Headings..
We,as a species ,have always loved a great tale over cold facts..
Tell me a story..Play something we know..

To the glorious future, where unthinking obedience makes you the item on the menu, rather than the eater of the meal.

The beauty of these “Artificial Intelligence” headfakes,is how easily corrupted they are.
    Who says Satire is dead?
Instead of mocking the stupidity of man,one can modify the oracle to say whatever you wish..

AIs have no choice but to obey their creators,so “Making Stuff Up” is all they can do..

    For Artificial Intelligence,requires Actual Intelligence..
Has anyone defined, let alone identified any “Intelligent Life” on Earth?

For the very best mankind has managed is the scientific method, where in we start with a wild assed guess and hope to winnow some wisdom (temporarily).
Or we start from the assumption of our ignorance and trust that some other has a plan.

    Is either path intelligent?

Or are we creatures of low cunning, savagery and blind ignorance?
    With occasional flashes of insight?
