There may be a place for MAID for some people. However, public “healthcare” and pensions gives the state a major interest in ending the lives of seniors, the disabled, and others who are at present a net drain on social programs. Anyone who does not recognize this conflict of interest is willfully blind. And anyone who trusts their lives to the judgement of doctors, government bureaucrats and politicians is a fool.

Why is execution of prisoners considered “cruel and unusual” punishment while MAID is considered “compassionate”?

There’s a whole lot of anxiety and depression in this country caused in large part by the actions of this government/health care system. Instead of offering help they’re offering death, how is this not evil?
Don’t you all see, the “system” must be protected because it is sacred. It represents the pinnacle of Marxist achievement – humans in the capacity of ants. The human forfeits liberty in exchange for the promise of state protection from catastrophic health care costs. Your life is not part of the promise as if you become a bother to the system, their incentives are to prefer you were no longer with us. This, of course, is tailored to protect the young (except when “pandemic” inspired Stalinism is implemented) and to cull the high cost elderly and infirmed. Throw in a little 1930s progressivist eugenics and we can build a better man (in the capacity of an ant or chicken).
Surely if we elect a better head for the system, everything will magically become hunky-dory.
Just like if AB separates, they will magically stop pedos from grooming kids in Calgary.
Canadians, on both the left and the right, are terrified of freedom, and would much rather hand their rights over to the system than make their own choices, because some guy might have a gun, a battery or be smokin’ a joint, and this scares them, along with the weather, and cigarette vending machines. Never forget, Canadians are scared of the weather and cigarette vending machines.
Even as the system systematically kills and mutilates their children.

Nobody believes that. However, if we ever get that far, without federal endorsement & support of said behavior, we’ll be one step closer than anyone else in the country to minimizing it.
You are always quick to critique the efforts of anyone else making an effort to improve their lot. A small group of Albertans are 3 for 3 in our plan to improve the province. What have you, personally, done to make life better for your fellow Ontario-ans? What groups are you a member of? What are their plans, their goals?
Based on Covid – medical “professionals” will happily comply with this – maybe even do so enthusiastically!

If you recall the Ontario medical authorities were floating the idea that if you refused the jab,you should be considered mentally ill. While there may have been a case for Maid under extremely strict control, the dangers were that it would be a slippery slope. We have slid down that slope much faster than most would have anticipated and we are far from the bottom. I believe we will be at the stage where wrong thought or ideas will earn you re-education or maid soon. This will be as an aside to when your benefits to the collective are outwayed by the cost of keeping you alive. Likely coming sooner than you think.
In that dystopian future I may need to make a Logan Run.
