Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Torstar is “journalism”?
They are tone deaf. LibLefty agitprop propaganda is more like it. Journalism died decades ago
Torstar – which was once valued at over $2B and was recently sold to approx. $50M on the hope of turning it into a gambling app – is “post-jouralism”
They are stealing fake news, no one cares about.
Wonder how much the Star already gets from Trudeau? Should be zero for all media companies..
Steve H, your question and your use of the phrase “gets from” implies that Trudeau and the Star are seprate entities. As far as I can discern, each have their tongues so far up each other’s fundament that it’s impossible to tell where one starts and the other begins.
My mistake! I humbly apologize! 🙂
It’s called a shakedown.
A shakedown for shoddy “journalism” at best.
My mother used to subscribe to Torstar for years. My favorite email ever sent was to cancel her subscription using my personal gmail –
torstarsucks at gmail dot com.
They should be thrilled that anyone thinks it’s worth reading, let alone steal.
Damfs.
This could have be the opposite of the Streisand Effect.
Much of their traffic comes from social media. If it becomes more difficult or costly to view, they’ll lose what little readership they have.
The Brown Star
How do you square your opinions of legacy media with the job the G&M and Global have done breaking the chicom influence story? It wasn’t any of the social media startups that had anything on the chicoms.
I don’t like the fact that these players are getting taxpayer money to keep them operating any more than anybody else but they are still breaking stories that are important to Canadians.
When they choose to. And then only what they want you to know. It’s the spoonful of sugar thesis.
It’s combo of (i) the broken clock analogy, (ii) the concept of a “controlled opposition” and – most likely the largest factor here by a sizable margiin – (iii) the fact that certain members of the Laurentian “matrix” are leaking this informmation for their own purposes to their own legacy media partners, and the MSM, whose biggest bias is – still – to scandal are merely reprinting this. Having said that, I’m pleasantly surpised that the MSM, esp the Grope and Fail has gone as far as it has. Someone must really be mad at Justin!
It’s not like they are going for the jugular. The stories are coming out in a “Oh, by the way…There, see? We’re not biased” type of fashion.
Well, at least the stand with the Ukraine folk will be happy. I remember them clapping like trained seals when DuckDuckGo said they would suppress Russian “disinformation.”
Russian disinformation? That would be you, stooge of Putin.
Ahh, Dudley Doright has revealed an FSB agent, working deep, deep undercover here at SDA!
The tech giants should block TorStar for a week and see what happens… I think their biggest complaint is that they aren’t getting all of the ad revenue, because YouGooTwitFace gets a bigger cut.
Torstar? I can’t count how many small newspapers they took over or shut down in the 1990s. Torstar was itself probably the biggest killer of journalism in Canada, exception only for internet killing off classified advertising. I long for the day when #1 Yonge Street had been reduced to a one-story outhouse.
What’s your problem with TorStar? They are 100% aligned with you when it comes to the Ukraine.
You’ve been fingered as an FSB agent.
By Boris Badenov, no less.
My code-name is Snidely Whiplash, and I was the one who masterminded the Stokey the Bear misinformation campaign all those years ago, back when I was in the KGB.
You sure gots my number.
Still, you and Torstar are birds of a feather.
@cgh – screams with the girls from The View.
It’s crazy to see all the Rachel Maddow/ CNN supporters coming out of the woodwork on SDA over Ukraine. At best “Never-Trumpers” that run with Trudeau & Biden because they’ve been so honest about everything else they ever told you. “honest baby this time I’m not lying” like a beaten & abused submissive coming back for a little more again and again and again.
@ Paul. Yet another quisling for Uncle Vlad.
@cgh – Yet another quisling for the pedophile tranny agenda.
The RedStar thinks their ‘journalism’ is worth stealing, hilarious.
They can dream; can’t they? (sarc.)
It is beyond funny.
All yours fakes news belongs to me.
