Fascinating video with so many clarifications about the endocrine system…I grew up reviewing my bloodwork every few months with my “endocrinologist”, who pointed out how I still had antibodies in my blood which were fighting against my thyroid gland. This was diagnosed when I was 9 years old. It was not until after my 18th birthday that he announced that my condition had a name: Hashimoto’s Disease. The thought crossed my mind that I could have used that information while growing up as a non-athletic child. I grew up to be quite the conservative person, which makes me think that the urge to consider oneself a “victim” is a human urge that must be fought against…
    I noticed Dr. Gemmell hurried to the Thyroid Clinic from elsewhere in the Winnipeg General Hospital to see my family (yup, genetic problem), but found out later that he was, at the time, Chief of Staff, and saw us because we were “interesting cases”. I call him my own real-life Dr.House, RIP Dr. J. P. Gemmell.
