Getting pretty tired of this country reaching for its wallet every time an indian tribe stamps its collective moccasin in anger. And don’t tell me we “owe them” because we came here and took away their way of life.
Bullsh1t. Collectively, they hadn’t figured out written language or even the wheel, and their “way of life” was on a fixed timeline when the first white settlers appeared on the shores. It’d be like buggy whip workers screaming about losing their livelihood and demanding reparations from Henry Ford. You adapt or pay the price.
They’ve taken far more than they’ve given the ROC for the last 100 years and it’s time to stop the guilt-based handouts. I’d favor cash to shut down the reservations and move the indians out of that institutionalized squalor to join the rest of society, but the financial and social apartheid of the reservation system will never produce anything but poverty and blight.
I’ve little to say about the koran, though, except that if I ever found my myself on a desert island sans toilet paper but with a koran, I’d put it to good use.
I think trans-genderism is at the beginning of the end. A friend’s daughter was told in Grade 5 (age 11) that she was actually a boy. The teacher also told 3 other girls the same thing. So my friend and her husband put her on puberty blocking drugs and have now started her on testosterone(sp?) now that she (and since she is still “XX”, I call her she) is 18. She has a lot of anger management issues (according to my friend). She is in the process of finishing first year engineering. I think the “penny is starting to drop” that her endocrine system is messed up because of the puberty blocking drugs, no one on campus cares about her, she is no longer “special”. Once the university has your money, you can show up to classes or not, you can write exams or not, the administration does not care if you have personal identity issues. I personally think, this young woman will be “going off the rails” by the time she is 25. I could be wrong though. I think more and more young people who were given bad advice at the age of 11, will be starting to realize this.
