  1. Is it not CA where stealing less than a $1,000 worth of goods is unlikely to be prosecuted? How the hell could any business survive that level of stupidity.

    1. Apparently, the more technologically sophisticated and affluent, Americans became, the more their elites believed they could change ancient human nature that is fixed and predictable across time and space.

VDH needs to remove the word “Apparently” from that chillingly accurate statement. And I don’t believe you can only blame the “elites”, as most of my SF Bay Area neighbors are sold-out to the notion that punishment for crime only begets more crime. My neighbors believe the criminal Justice system is “racist”. They believe that crime will go down if we simply … “stopped incarcerating black men for non-violent marijuana crimes”. How that notion got expanded to “non-violent” property crimes is due to BLM claims that … “it’s only stuff” … and “stuff can be replaced”. These slogans of the left are more corrosive than battery acid, and they’re eating away the thin veneer of our civilized society.

Yes, VDH … “ancient human nature is fixed and predictable”. Each succeeding generation deludes themselves into believing they’re “above all that” ancient human nature stuff and whatnot. No. No you’re not. You’re just as selfish, self-centered, greedy, and nasty as every other preceding generation of mankind. To borrow a phrase … “we’re born that way”. It’s the very thing that makes The Bible as relevant today as it was two millennia ago. Human nature needs certain restraint. And if humans are incapable of self-restraint, then society writ large needs to do the restraining for them.

The real question is … can this lawlessness be reversed? Even as we lawlessly erase our borders to admit millions more lawbreakers and takers ? And can our society survive the erasure of Law and Order? Sadly … I believe the answers are No. and No. instead … the result will be a further stratification of society. The productive, successful, people will be forced into ever more insular … likely walled/gated compounds with 24/7 security teams patrolling the perimeters. We call those compounds “suburbia” today … but they will become more and more exurban as time and crime roll on. The technology that allows us to telecommute will drive the law-abiding further and further away from the animalistic thieves, liars, and murderers.

      1. Kenji, excellent analysis. As per usual. Would that those at all levels of government paid heed to reason and common sense. But then again, I’ve renamed common sense “rare insight” for some time now.

      2. Is altruism a learned trait or a fundamental component of humanities essential nature, no matter how sparsely distributed?

        1. Rob83 … not to cop out, but I would argue that altruism is both. As sentient beings, we have the capacity to perceive good and evil. We innately KNOW good from bad. For most of us, our FIRST experience in this world is a mothers LOVE and CARE. This certainly imprints deep feelings of LOVE in our perception of the world and ourselves.

But we also LEARN altruism as well. From others and from our own trial and error. We learn that in a large group of people we need to follow certain basic rules of decent behavior, such as not running red lights and t-boning a van carrying the girl scout troop and slaughtering 10 innocent kids … because we CHOOSE to ignore “societies” red light. Because “our authentic selves” decided that RED lights are for EXTREME right wingers … and not for someone “in touch with their own feelings”. And yes, those who would ignore red lights … are psychopaths who are dead inside … and have no place in civilized society.

  2. Walmart pulling out of Oregon is a good start. Unwilling to continue to absorb losses across the state, they effectively said, “screw you”, we’re done. Let’s see how all the lefties respond.

    1. A sure sign of a collapsing civilization: When criminality gets so entrenched that it is seen as a legit way to get ahead.

Theft and corruption were extremely rampant in the USSR and its vassal states, and the effects of that cultural corruption are still felt to this day.

  3. Food for thought.
I have come to the conclusion that covid19 was not an accidental leak and that the CCP had a hand in the 2020 stolen election.
For those that think conspiracy nut.
If civil war breaks out in the US how long before Red China invades Taiwan?????

  4. Please United States: Invade and uninstall our Marxist regime in Canada, and invade and uninstall the corrupt regime in Mexico. We will all be thankful.
