That’s just about everyone that has leadership aspirations now, maybe a couple left over.

There will be a new batch of rats from the bilge coming along to replace them.
Yeppers. Dirtier, stinkier & more vile. Never a shortage.
They will have to interview with Xi Jinping first,,, just to be sure they also admire China/Canadian dictatorships !
leaving to plan his next leadership run?
Could this be writing on the bulkhead that Trudeau will be leaving soon?
Nah. He’s 74. He ran against Trudeau for the leadership last time. Too old now.
They could have had Viva.
Is a Lieberal membership required to be a Canadian astronaut?
No, though membership in Freemasonry is.
Gotta be someone who takes blood oaths never to betray the secrets they’re shown.
Garneau is a moron, but he isn’t scummy enough for this group of human garbage currently running the Liberal Party.
Yep. Not my cup of tea … but he was out of cabinet for not being sufficiently suppliant to Dear Leader. There is no place for a man with character in that harem known as the Trudeau cabinet.
From the article:
Garneau is also known as having run against then fellow MP Justin Trudeau for the Liberal Party of Canada’s leadership in 2013. At the time, he criticized Trudeau for lacking substance and accusing him of being an untested inexperienced rookie. He ultimately withdrew his candidacy to support Trudeau, and said he would remain a “loyal soldier”.
Do you get the feeling that something is up?
“I admire Canada’s basic dictatorship.” – Xi Jinping
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Well put. Well said!
Garneau was one of the last reasonably honest liberals, which is why he lost his cabinet position after the last election. Trudeau couldn’t stand having a more honest, smarter and all around more personable guy at his table.
Quite right. Garneau was used by the Trudeau pond-scum (Butts-Telford) for the luster his astronaut credentials lent to the party. But daring to criticize the Party apparatchiks he was thrown over the side. Justatwit is such a narcissist that he can’t stand having anyone around him who might be brighter than him.
Hence Garneau was forced out in much the same manner that Wilson-Raybould or Philpott were forced out. Do not expect anyone else of any talent to survive much longer either. Anita Anand’s days are likely numbered. She was the first person to bring some sanity to the Defense portfolio in five years (not that that’s saying much but she was better than the dimwitted Harjit Sajjan.)
Honest?
He was an astronaut (of some sort). He let an unaccomplished moron like Justin boss him around. He did this for a long time.
Now that things are getting too hot China-wise, he is taking a pension he has no bloody right to and running.
Honest? Hardly.
re: Garneau was one of the last reasonably honest liberals
And Flexible!
“he criticized Trudeau for lacking substance and accusing him of being an untested inexperienced rookie. He ultimately withdrew his candidacy to support Trudeau”
Cal, “ultimately withdrew his candidacy to support Trudeau” That’s quite a flip eh?
I’m sure there was a sensible valid factual reason behind it.

No worries, he’ll also have his astronaut pension from the Canadian government to help out!
Looks like he read the letters of fire in the night sky: “Liberals = ChiComs” and decided he couldn’t win in Montreal.
The French, they don’t like furriners. They pretend its okay, but they’re only pretending.
The fact is that people prefer the companyof those who are most like themselves. That is human nature.
The left sees human nature as racist … maybe that’s true … maybe there is a good reason … our natural propensity to tribalism. Evolution is slow .. it’s a lot slower for some races/cultures.
Former Liberal Cabinet Minister (current and long-time Liberal MP) John McKay is now starting to waver.
Will he follow Garneau into the lifeboat?
He would have done us a greater service if he had gone for an untethered space-walk back in the 80s.
I say, I say , boy … it is ass-covering time in Ottawa? … or is it just that no one wants to clean up the horrid mess that Trudeau has made.
Should have put newspaper on the floors like you do with puppies.
There’s a Quebec (French) caucus? Is that anything like the congressional black caucus? Canada blows dead goats.
Just saw Trudeau’s message that “trans-women are women”.
Did he say during Black History Month that “black faced people are black people”?
What’s the difference? Both are stereotypical caricatures.
And we wonder why Garneau doesn’t want to hang around with those folk.
So, if Turdopian logic mandates ‘trans-women’ to be true women, then according to the same philosophy, a white fella painted-up as a ‘trans-black’ would be classified as a genuine member of the BiPoc community.
This of course would give a certain quebecoix politician permanent historical standing as Turdopia’s first black Prime Minister.
We certainly DO live in curious times…
Gar, NO, no longer a turD’Ho puppet!
Classical liberals aren’t turD’Ho’s cup O tea.
“Veteran Liberal MP and former minister Marc Garneau is resigning his seat after nearly 15 years in politics.”
That’s it?! Pension Time!!
So he’s only a politician, not a bureaucrat?!
The Overton Window has narrowed and shifted so far left, in this day and age, John F Kennedy would be seen as an alt-right nazi!
It seems that a lot of people of mature age who can afford to leave the *ahem* workforce, are doing so in great numbers.
You can already see the effects in the supply chain and anywhere else that used to have mature people employed there. The ones remaining, are very stressed, as they seem to be left holding the reins of the (galloping?) youth and where they have left; poor service, incompetence, phones ring forever. It’s not going to be pleasant in a few more years, especially in critical infrastructure/areas..
Not to mention the increased unfunded liability to those pension funds.
Remember what it did to GM when the subprime mortgage crisis hit?
Now it’s the public sectors turn.
Those would be Leisure Suit Larry’s peeps.
Something bad is coming down the pipe.
Vacating a safe liberal seat?
Any guesses on the following:

Was this done to make way for another celebrity candidate?

Indeed. Saw my only marginally competent Dr. in Dec. for the first time in two years. Said he would make an appt. to a Urologist for me. I phoned today, three months later, as I have heard nothing. I’m told the “normal wait time” to see a specialist is 9 – 12 months.

They might check on my horses’ vax status, but they don’t ask for mine.
I recall Garneau’s press conference as Minister of Transport on the Boeing 737Max software issue. He had total command of the subject matter and was excellent on the Q&A, increasing or decreasing his level of technical detail depending on the question. It was so refreshing to see a Liberal who actually knew their shit about something. I know that planes and avionics would be in his wheelhouse as an astronaut, but I’m certain that regardless of the portfolio (or portfolios, had he become leader/PM) he would have had similar command of the material, unlike the f**king braindead trollip we currently have as a PM and his accompaniment of clapping seal bobbleheads. Canada would be such a different place today if Garneau had won that leadership race.
In the end tho, good riddance to him. He conciously chose to join the clapping seal bobblehead brigade. I do hope his resignation portends the imminent destruction of this corrupt Liberal government.

I believe you’ve hit the nail on the head.
How many bleach baths will he need to take before he feels clean?
He turned 15 minutes of floating in space into 15 years of feeding at the trough.
What a freaking maroon.
Only our Liberals could turn an Astronaut into a Space Cadet.
Garneau has a PhD in electrical engineering. He retired from the Canadian military with the rank of Captain and flew on the Space Shuttle Challenger. He is a man of high accomplishment.
My guess is Garneau could read the tea leaves in the librano leadership contest. He knew the Bong had the royal jelly and realized that opposing him would end in a blood bath that Bongo would win and his (Garneau’s) career would be over before he accomplished anything politically. Garneau is a guy used to getting things done.
The Bong on the other hand is not a man of accomplishment. He flunked out of engineering at McGill in the first month of the first semester. He knew Garneau presented a real threat and that he (the Bong) didn’t measure up. His handlers undoubtedly proposed a solution. Approach Garneau and get him to drop out in exchange for promise of a cabinet position when the Bong became PM. Garneau might not have had the money to compete and if he lost it’s purgatory for him politically so he takes the offer, drops off the ballot and that paves the way to the Bongs win.
Once the libranos won in 2015 Bongo put Garneau in cabinet. Why wouldn’t you with his resume? He’s the only guy with a real CV. Garneau was probably a difficult guy to manage. Most guys of high accomplishment are. They don’t put up with bullshit. Garneau most likely didn’t like the cut and thrust of politics or the Bongs personal ‘management style’. In other words he had enough of the Bongs shit. The end.
Good luck to you Marc Garneau.
Well said.
Absolutely correct. ab. Butts and Telford were more than capable of arranging a deal to take Garneau off the leadership table in 2015. And you cannot be an astronaut of any sort or an expert pilot without a very high ability for situational analysis and telling it like it is. He would have known that Justatwit was a shoe-in for the leadership after the disasters of Michael Ignatief and Stephane Dion – that the Liberals would flock to anyone who could reverse their downward spiral.
Saw Marc Garneau’s LIVE presentation back in the 80s when I attended a conference in Montreal. He happened to be one of the Speakers, amongst others, but one that was the highlight of the day because it was where he gave us the first photos from outer Space. They were very impressive, needless to say, you’ve all seen the photos. At the end of all this I happened to share an elevator with Garneau, purely by coincidence, we were alone. When we got off the elevator, he let me go first and smiled at me. Because I find mostly everything hilarious, I remember thinking, that didn’t happen! It was just my imagination! Oh well, stunned as I was, at least, I smiled back. It was real!
Much as I respect the technical skills Marc Garneau demonstrated through out his career,I cannot respect his utter lack of good judgement, acting as an enabler of Justine the Petulant and his Children’s Council Crusade.
Where has Marc been?
As the Liberal Party has gone full Gestapo on us?

Every Liberal and NDP MP is personally responsible.
