        1. I remember the days of “Emu 999 Tawny Port” they used to sell in Alberta Liquor Control Board stores by the jug. It was horse product. I Googled it and they still make it.

      2. Fortunately for giraffes they have a built in test lab in their olfactory organ. And often the male can tap the target female on the rump and she will pee on demand so that he can have a taste. It is much harder to convince random human females to do so. This is almost the kind of link David Thompson would post.

  7. “Top songs of 1969” … like any other “Top” list is always amusing.

    One of the interesting parts of this list is the number of Bubblegum and Novelty Songs on the list. #1 is “Sugar Sugar” by The Archie’s!? Puhleeze. But listening to music on mostly an AM dial … would have saturated your ears in that bubblegum. But MANY songs that sounded like silly novelty songs or bubblegum on the AM dial were anything BUT silly music.

    An example from 1969 is this silly sounding tune that is simply FANTASTIC “swamp” music by an incredibly gifted vocalist and musician, Tony Joe White. The song always sounded silly on AM radio … but it’s hard to call this “silly” when you watch this man play and hear his voice in full fidelity …

And since the tragically underrated Tommy James and the Shondells of Michigan have two tunes on the list … it should be noted that although their record company and producer saw them as a Bubblegum Act … the band had higher aspirations. Case in point … the psychedelica hit Crimsen and Clover is about as far from bubblegum as you can get. And when you hear the proper LONG lp version with pedal steel guitar, distorted and tremolo guitar … it’s anything BUT bubblegum. Add to that a not so veiled lyric and title about virginal sex … and it’s far from bubblegum.

      But the long version was never played on AM radio, and the AM frequency never delivered the intricate layered guitars and vocals on this tune … it’s simply lush and lucious. Here’s a nicely engineered recording by Rhino records.

    1. DB – I think because Trump said it the default narrative had to be the opposite opinion. It makes sense that the FBI has an official opinion but the Energy Department? I guess gain of function virus leaks do have a pretty big impact on energy availability and prices.

    Why does a 15 minute city always start with the government limiting travel? They always start with a punishment-based system. Why not just create the 15 minute city and leave everyone alone? There would be no conspiracy theories, just lots of people walking to get their groceries and riding their bikes. But that wouldn’t satisfy the government and this is what upsets people.
