      The once-pacifist American Left has embraced Ukraine as its “I told you so” proof that Vladimir Putin was really the monster that it could not find guilty in its various Russian collusion concoctions and laptop disinformation hoaxes.

  5. More are waking up to the geopolitical fallout of the “made in USA” Ukraine project.
    But we get fed the same same talking points that serve to distract from those responsible for the clusterfuck.
    Despite 8 yrs of NATO training & arms, the Ukes were not prepared to face off when they escalated the provocations in Feb. 2022.
    The war drags on. The USA miscalculated in terms of Russia’s military preparedness and resilience to the sanctions. But then how were we to know they had so many spare washing machines to salvage. Photo ops re. piecemeal arms shipments sometime in the future won’t change the outcome. Perpetuating a BS narrative about the war is getting more people killed.

      Towards the end he describes the total failure of the sanctions (ie 85% of companies one way or another still doing business in Russia … Estonia a major exporter of semiconductor chips but has zero mfg).

  7. VDH flushed his reputation as a “deep thinker” who is “steeped in history” on that one. The whole purpose of reading history is to avoid being taken in by propaganda. VDH failed this miserably.

      1. Nah, he still buys the Ukrainian cope. Still buys the idea that NATO didn’t force Putin’s hand, that this was just some wild brain wave that Vlad had. That the Ukrainians are showing up Russia somehow, but suffering multiples of the casualties Russia is suffering, from a far smaller population base. Russia will take Ukrainians “heroically” defending the “Zelensky Line” at the cost of huge casualties right up to when the Ukrainian war effort collapses due to the lack of fresh meat to throw into the fight.

        If Putin had allowed NATO to waltz into Ukraine without a fight, Putin would have been overthrown.

        That’s my take, anyway. And the take of a lot of retired military who are freed from parroting the NATO party line.

          Ukraine is doing quite well. Russia hasn’t had the initiative since the summer. Their only victory is Soledar at massive cost.

          Russia doesn’t have air superiority.
          Russias deep strikes are being neutralized
          Russia is running short on certain types of ammo

          Mariupol is being hit daily. It’s out of range of HIMARS. Go figure.

But then have Ukies been able to break through anywhere where Russians decided to hold the line?

            None of this is to take away from the bravery of the Ukies. It says the Ukies were poorly advised going into this and now aren’t even being given necessary weapons to fight this war WITH NO CLEAR OBJECTIVES. Instead they get photo ops with promises of some day…What is the point of these photo ops? For NATO so save face cuz someone miscalculated Russia staying in the game for the long term.

            Also unlike the ukes Russia doesn’t announce it’s military plans.
            As for the objective, the de- nazification of Ukraine, the demilitarization of Ukraine, announced at the beginning of the SMO. Maybe your coloring book didn’t mention it.

      I have secretly thought this for a while. I learn nothing from most of his current affairs writings tho I do value some of his exhaustive summaries because, let’s face it, in the interest of maintianing some level of mental hygiene it’s easy to forget many of the fast rolling lunancies we’ve had to endure. Also, he seems not to have conceded what a disaster the Iraq war was. Most early propaganda suckers (mea culpa) did wake up to the neocon monstrosity and have applied that humiliating learning exercise to this criminal US proxy venture against Russia.

    I had to do it with cut and paste, here is part of it.

        Why is it then that so many officials on our side celebrated the destruction of the pipeline, if it was in Putin’s interest to do it? Let me guess your answer, it’s because “Putin is so stupid he didn’t even know it was bad for him!”

        Or are you going to go with industrial accident caused by Russian incompetence? If so, you will have to explain why explosive residues were found at the site.

    2. Blowing the pipeline was an attack on Germany. How are average Germans reacting to the news? What of German industrialists? Are they biding their time, waiting for the USA to weaken & then cast off the yoke and form ties with Russia again? Who would have thought the world would see the xtheenth partition of Poland? Play stupid games…
