      I spent a few days down on the coast in Placencia, Belize a couple of weekends ago. I swear…I believe I saw at least 3 of those women with all the ink and the hardware walking in the market on Saturday morning. I have never seen so many single women, tatted and pierced from 40 to 75 years of age in any one sport at one time. Must have been 2 dozen if it weren’t 4. They were leathery, sad looking and seemed to have chips on their painted shoulders. I felt like a dog that regretted jumping over the fence to chase the bus down the street only to get run over. I believe the word is “fuggly”

          Exactly. That was only one of the many indications of fraud that were obvious just on election night (never mind all the eyewitness stuff that came to light later). It was even more telling, to me, than the ” Trump won 17 out of 19 bellwether counties” or the “Joe Biden got more black votes than Barack Obama” …because I already understood that the rank and file military loved loved LOVED President Donald Trump! Why? Because he bought them new equipment, raised their wages, pulled them out of military zones (that they didn’t belong in) all over the world and began to fix the problems at the VA…what’s not to love?

    Within the article is this paragraph, bold mine:

    “The highly specialized study published in Nature found that there is a giant metal ball sitting within the Earth’s inner core, known as the innermost inner core (IMIC). The ball is roughly 800 miles, and has been part of geological theory for quite some time, but the results from the study almost conclusively prove its existence (since we can’t get down there and check with our own eyes).”

    Eight hundred miles, what? Diameter? Circumference? Radius? Deep? From the moon? Easter eggs? Pizzas? Goldfish?

    WTF? Does anybody proof read the crap they post under the guise of, “journalism”?

    1. It’s worse than you think. If you go to the actual paper published in Nature it says “650-km thick innermost ball” in the Abstract. So the authors of the actual paper don’t even say radius, diameter, circumference, or Easter eggs. They do mention radius deep down in their paper. You have to go to the inner core to get that answer though.

      If I had to venture a guess I would say the authors have identified that the Earth’s core is not a simple double layer of liquid outer core and solid inner core. The innermost inner core was originally proposed (in the 1980s) to have a radius of 300 km, and these chaps get 650 km and I have no idea how you get to 800 miles (1,040 km) unless the journalist meant diameter and was poor at math. Even the authors use the term “thickness”.

      I tried reading the actual paper. They studied p-waves that travel through the Earth. Some p-waves won’t go right through the center of the core so the model of a 2 layer core doesn’t match their actual travel times for paths through the core centre and off to one side. So they make a 3 layer core and change the velocity of the innermost layer to improve the fit. Then they try and explain what the innermost layer might be composed of.
