  1. CNN overdid it, as per rule.

    The unedited MPD footage clearly shows the Scorpion unit committed murder and mayhem.

    However, it doesn’t show it was because of racism.

    The strength of the civil disturbances that ensued last night didn’t even reach Category 1 level. CNNs disappointment was as palpable as when of those rating boosting hyped hurricanes didn’t happen.

    1. Agreed with one exception….I think it will be very hard to prove second degree murder…..maybe third degree murder. And not all of the five will be found guilty. As an aside, the footage released is nowhere NEAR what happened to Rodney King.

      1. I think the cop who kicked him in the head twice as a slam-dunk for 2nd degree murder, and maybe for the guy who suckered him twice, too boot, and 3rd degree for the rest of them, + guilty on all the other charges. They’re all going to prison.

            No it doesn’t. It requires mens rea, a guilty mind. You do not have to intend to kill someone. That’s first degree murder. You only have to prove they died in an attempt to commit bodily harm where death was a likely outcome or during commission of a list of felonies.

They scared the shit out of the guy and he reacted instinctively to save his life. They killed him to prove him right. Everyone knows the result of directed kicks to the head as did these cops.

          1. The initial approach in a traffic stop is not with your sidearm pointed at the driver screaming “get on the ground!” while the driver is sitting in the car.

  11. While these officers obviously overreacted, were out of control and there’s no excuse for what happened, it is always easier to comply with their orders. It’s a fight you can never win. Black mothers need to have their sons watch Chris Rock’s video. The lack of respect goes both ways.

I would go one step further, and reference Chris Rock Fe-fi-fo-figger skit, what we do not know is what led up to this assault, and just perhaps, the knowledge these cops had of previous interactions.     Those cops were not only excessively violent, but incompetent, one of them pepper-sprays his partner and himself.

        I’ve had experience with worse, gas-mask training in the CAF back in the 80s.
        At any rate, anyone with some training knows you don’t use pepper-spray to subdue, as when you start wrestling the guy, you get the stuff all over yourself.

  15. What I’d like to know is where the rioters get their marching orders from? Seems to be one sector of our society is far and away more organized than every other sector. I didn’t see any riots when Ashley Babbitt was gunned down in Washington buy a black cop and with the release of the tape of Roseann Boyland’s death at the hands of a black policewoman I don’t even see any newspaper reports expressing any outrage that this woman was beaten to death with a “billy club”. The Afro-American sector of America makes up about 15% of the population yet there seems to be a preponderence of incidences concerning them. Has the rest of society become so intimidated that we will allow this encroachment to continue?
