So Much For The Right To Remain Silent

Spiked- Thoughtcrime is now a reality in Britain

How did this happen? First, Vaughan-Spruce was known to be a member of a pro-life organisation. And second, she was within 150 metres of an abortion clinic, inside a so-called buffer zone. In September, Birmingham City Council introduced a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), which makes any ‘act of approval or disapproval’ toward abortion in the surroundings of the clinic a criminal offence, on pain of a £1,000 fine. This restriction applies to any expression related to abortion services, by any method: whether by graphic, verbal or written means, prayer or counselling, or in any other way. So Vaughan-Spruce’s alleged silent prayer was apparently enough. Someone had disapproved of her presence and asked the police to get rid of her. All the ploddingly literal-minded copper needed was Vaughan-Spruce’s admission that she might have been privately communing with her god and might therefore have been illegally praying in a restricted area.

    1. Know who the NAZI are and where they live. The day is coming.
And PS Never ever surrender your firearms.

    2. I would say that the vast majority of people living in the western world are “pussies” and I am a woman. I have had to deal with some “less than special” situations in my past which have required pushback. At my age of almost 71, I now write “sternly worded” letters to politicians and occasionally they DO reply.

    3. Remember those Depraved Muslims blocking traffic with their stinky ass to the west? Wait, yeah they weren’t praying, they were chanting the Infidel is bad routine. I think they are called No Go Zones. Now be a good FILTHY LIBERAL and remember to forget about them.

  1. The Cowards of the Western World are literally prancing towards the crematoriums.

Our Governments and Media are full blown liars with a dystopian future planned for us.

It is truly pathetic to see what we have become.

Can’t imagine having kids and being silent as the Government steals their future!

Canadians, every flipping one, are Cowards.

Not too bright either. The Government lies are hilarious.

    All they do is lie.

    1. catbce,

The lies are not even a little bit funny.

They’re hideous and they’re murdering people.

      It is deliberate genocide.

      Not funny.

      Criminal in intent and result.

  2. Tale of 3 idiots:
    1) The woman charged. Why spend one day outside of an abortion clinic vs., doing something else useful with the day? No one will drag back the clock on this cultural change, albeit some countries do not have firm laws, which perhaps are not needed.
    2) The idiot “Karen or Karl”, who recognized her and likely called the cops. Again, perhaps this person could spend their day differently.
    3) The cops’ supervisor, who sent them out and the cops, who should have said “nothing burger here” and left the scene vs, charging on silent prayers.

    1. She spent the time there because she was silently protesting something she opposes, irrespective of whether or not she believes “the clock will turn back on this cultural change”, which is the murder of the unborn.

People with principles do stuff like that.

      1. In response to the praying question, the response was “I might be praying in my head”. Of course, she might be or she might not be. She did not admit to anything. The police arrested her on suspicion of praying. There was no evidence of praying. The police will now need to provide evidentiary proof to a judge that she was in fact praying. Thrown out in due time. Process is the punishment.

        1. Sorry Mike, these days there’s no assurance that it will be thrown out in due time. Judges have been known to make some ridiculously woke decisions of late. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that she was convicted of the heinous crime of illegally silently praying.

“People with principles do stuff like that.”
        you spelt mental illness wrong.
Bible bangers need to learn to respect other’s ways , that are not in lineament with their own beliefs
Having said that, I support her rite to do what she was doing, she was not being intrusive, or abusive , she just offended a snowflake Karen.

        1. ” … you spelt mental illness wrong.
Bible bangers need to learn to respect other’s ways , that are not in lineament with their own beliefs”

The best part of your anti-Christian screed was the perfunctory throwaway, “ I support her rite to do what she was doing”. As if. The naïveté and hypocrisy of your post are approaching event horizon levels.

So, if the woman did the same thing and was an atheist, that’s cool in your world, eh? As long as she’s not motivated by or following her faith. Got it. Christian faith-based actions or protests BAD, non-Christian actions A-ok. Is that about right?

You have the statist Left impoverishing you with high taxes and inflation, forcing you to take an experimental drug for a virus that’s 99% survivable, removing your right to publicly assemble and exercise free speech, eliminating your right to self defense and preventing you from owning firearms, and now reducing the supply of gasoline-powered vehicles to drive, confusing and mutilating the nation’s youth, culling the mentally unwell to reduce healthcare and also killing the unborn. All this and you rant about a woman whose faith has her stand quietly next to an abortion provider and pray for the murdered and your take is she suffers from “mental illness”?

Might be time to rethink that post and how nuts you look authoring it.

          1. MHB, stop talking to NME or GYM or Watto or whatever the idiot calls himself.

            It’s not worth it.

    2. Standing outside of an abortuary telling women that they are being lied to by Big Abortion is VERY useful.

“Drag back the clock”? Use stock phrases much? No imagination?

  3. I wonder if the reaction would have been the same if there were some folks praying while kneeling on rugs, facing east and and wearing Burkas?

  4. The lesson here:
Don’t ever, for any reason, be anywhere for any reason ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you’ve been… ever, for any reason whatsoever…

    1. That lesson actually does not apply in western woke democracies, if you are publicly doing anything that is viewed as for a politically correct cause. Examples: in the U.K, Just Stop Oil blockades of roadways; in the U.S., Black Lives Matter violent protests; in Canada, aboriginal blockades of railways and land occupations.

  5. Magna Carta, gone. Woke Nazis have replaced it with their own version where PRAYING IN THE STREET is a CRMINAL OFFENCE.

  6. England’s motto should be “Submit, submit to the police state”, the entire EU sickens me but Canada is close behind them in being a police state.

  7. What a disaster this world currently is when protecting the right to kill a child in the womb is more important than either the child or morality.

  8. What is so special about the right to remain silent?

We’ve already lost Free Speech, Fair Elections, the Right to Assemble and Protest, Blind Justice and soon guns along with many other rights that are now privileges granted and removed at the whim of politicians.

Who hates their kids and grandkids more than canadians?

    Nooooooooooooobbboooddyyyy!!!

Be proud to be part of the Worst Generation of Canadians ever!

    1. The right to remain silent was abolished in Britain during the Blair regime’s comprehensive assault on ancient civil liberties.

  9. Tell the Police prayers are flying through the air in all directions every day and see how they react.
Who allowed such a ‘law’ to be passed ?

  10. This is unbelievable! It looks like Operation Sea Lion took longer than expected but was successful. Seeing Schutzstaffel Tommy Atkins arrest that woman was absolutely appalling.

  11. “What are you doing?”
    “Praying”
    “I don’t hear you praying.”
    “I wasn’t talking with you……”
