Watts Up With That- Coal Consumption Hit a Record 8 billion tons in 2022
Global coal use is set to rise by 1.2% in 2022, surpassing 8 billion tonnes in a single year for the first time and eclipsing the previous record set in 2013, according to Coal 2022, the IEA’s latest annual market report on the sector. Based on current market trends, the report forecasts that coal consumption will then remain flat at that level through 2025 as declines in mature markets are offset by continued robust demand in emerging Asian economies. This means coal will continue to be the global energy system’s largest single source of carbon dioxide emissions by far.

You have to burn a lot of coal to fire up those electric cars!
That’s awesome news. Soon as I get the logistics sorted, I’m going to start heating with coal.
CO2 for the Win!
I saw that. Meanwhile back in the world’s greenest country:
Germany’s Gas Reserves “Emptying at Record Speed” As Country Struggles to Keep Warm, Lights On
“Germany’s gas reserves are emptying at record speed: 1% per day as the current wind/solar energy lull means more gas gets burned for electricity, heating”.

Hard to believe they have the audacity to heat their homes. Damnable climate deniers, all of them.
The Germans prefer burning wood and coal to nuclear power. The Spawn will save them in ten years with a little bit of negative return on energy “green” hydrogen.
And as more electric cars come onto the market, demand for coal will greatly increase.
I guess that getting a lump of coal for Christmas is now a blessing from Santa.
As Martha Stewart was fond of saying, ” it’s a good thing “.
That’s a ton for every man, woman, child and mental defective on the turning turd of the Stupid solar system in the Milky Way galaxy.
I don’t burn any so do I get a carbon tax exemption?
Some free beer…?
It is time for our Dear Leader to triple the carbon tax. Clearly, the tax is not yet high enough to stop the rest of the world from burning more coal.
On the wrong side of history … again …

If Germany would just hang on for 20 years canada might have a business case to sell them some hydrogen. Maybe
The evil witch, Red Rachel, reduced the 50 year schedule to shut down coal to a lot less. There are only two coal plants left in Alberta and I’m guessing they are only about 10 years old. The rest switched to gas. Incidentally the coal plants run at100% or more of capacity. The wind and solar seem to average around 10%. Right now its 13%.
Coal, Nuclear, Gas, and Hydro are the only reliable, dispatchable electricity sources.
Germany is burning through 1% of its gas supply per day? What happens when it gets cold in Germany?
What happens when it gets cold in Germany?
Cut down the Black Forest.
