Canadian health care in crisis;
“The Red Cross being called into children’s hospitals in Ottawa, trailers being set up because of the overflow in children’s hospitals in Alberta, children dying because of the flu in B.C. It is clear that this is a national crisis and it cannot be solved at the provincial level,” Singh said in an interview with The West Block’s Mercedes Stephenson.
Canadian health care in crisis;
A federal body in charge of funding medical research is holding a 90-minute “interactive workshop” on how to create TikTok videos.
Instagram and TikTok for #SciComm is being led by influencer and neurologist Dr. Samantha Yammine who is also known as “Science Sam” online. The event is hosted by the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR).

All government health care problems are solved if everyone commits suicide who’s on the waiting list.
I am going to have a serious discussion with the first doctor who wants to kill me. I am hoping to personally banktrupt the health care system before I pack it in.
All government health care problems are solved if everyone commits suicide who’s on the waiting list.
the system has, at long last, been perfected
A friend’s wife is a specialty nurse with over 30 years under her belt. During Covid they pulled her off the floor so she could teach her fellow nurses (and I’m not joking) how to put on a paper mask.
Just curious … does the WORLD CLASS Cuban health care system encourage patients to off themselves? Just curious, because Obama always scolded us about how FABULOUS it would be if America cared for our people like Cuba does …
It’s Cuba. They circumvent the MAID thing by simply offing you. No need for the pesky consent forms
Wasn’t there a shortage of hospital beds and intensive care beds especially at the start of Corona? I kinda remember car companies rushing to build respirators, like some crazy war effort.
After 3 years and billions upon billions of dollars, seems nobody bothered to put any effort into icu space.
ICU space is always at capacity. It’s variable. Just hire more nurses. The excuses are whiny bullshit.
“ICU space is always at capacity. It’s variable. Just hire more nurses. ”
Or don’t fire the ones you *already have* for refusing to risk being ‘vaccinated’.
Respirators that killed patients? Yes those were a thing.
Provincial governments have the same taxing and borrowing authority as the federal government. All the provinces have to do is stop the whining and get off their useless asses and do something. Some idiotic premiers fired a bunch of nurses. Stupid or what?
What these egg-heads fail to realize is that you can’t make a doctor or a nurse appear from thin air just because funding “appears.” Thirty years ago, when my sister graduated with a B Sc in Nursing from the University of Windsor, she told me that there were at least two hospitals from Texas, two hospitals from Florida and a whole bunch from Michigan trying to recruit Canadian nursing graduates with enticements like signing bonuses, payment of moving costs, Green Card fast track (obviously), housing allowances, etc. She also told me that the graduates had carte blanche on what they wanted to specialize in depending on the hospital. At the same event, the three or four Windsor hospitals were represented by one kiosk offering the nurses only part-time work–starting at the very bottom with no ability to decide specialty until they became full-time nurses and openings in those departments(remember Rae Days–she would’ve went through that if she had stayed in Canada). Here’s the funny thing, those US hospitals were going after not only University of Windsor nursing graduates but also those from the University of Western Ontario and the University of Waterloo. Needless to say, most of my sister’s graduating class ended up working in the US. Canadians who want to be doctors usually have to attend US medical schools because it is almost IMPOSSIBLE for an Anglophone, home-grown Canadian to attend a Canadian medical school (totally different story for Francophones attending Quebec medical schools). The brain-drain is real, and the US has been enriching itself with our nurses and doctors because socialized medicine doesn’t have any money to actually recruit and/or retain our Canadian trained and educated nurses and doctors.
As well the other positions. I was talking to an MRI tech. He had to have shoulder surgery leaving the Sarnia Dept with 1 trained staff. When that person got sick, no one to run the machine. I asked why they don’t train others? Only so many ‘slots’ available. Can’t have supply of trained techs to meet demand. He worked in the local hospital for a while before their lunatic system broke him and he took a package. There the requests were handled by date submitted. Not alphabetically, not by triage. If your request was submitted and got ‘buried’ you would call the dr to say ‘what’s up?’. Another submission into the pile. Seemingly no rationality to the process nor impetus to change let alone improve. Don’t get sick.
The covid soapbox has done our universal healthcare well.. Where do you go from there to get noticed?.. Dying children comes to mind..
Since they have been firing doctors and nurses for not getting jabbed, US hospitals are now overrun. My 32 year old nephew has a bowel obstruction. Took a week to find a hospital that had room for him. There are plenty of beds it turns out. But no one to staff them.
This in the US Midwest. Five states they checked. Still he’s waited a week. With a medical emergency.
Unheard of until COVID.
the US spends by far the most of any other country on earth for health care, and falls far from the top as regards overall longevity by country.
when the maniacs in Canada scream: “You want to turn Canadian health care into an American system”, the correct response should be: “Not on your life! I want a Singaporean system; low cost, best outcomes on earth.”
when the maniacs respond: “Go to Singapore then!” respond by telling them that Singapore is too intelligent to take in immigrants, and then call your maniac interlocutor a racist Canadian bigot supremacist.
I want a Singaporean system; low cost, best outcomes on earth
You can’t compare Singapore, or Korea, or Japan, and the health care systems there with those in North America. All three are high-IQ countries; in fact, the highest in the world on average. Dumb people, (and people in North America are getting dumber all the time — look at the political class in either country as an example), gum up the inputs and outputs and the black box in between. Reach a critical mass of dumb people in a country’s population, and you achieve entropy. Canada will get there, probably sooner than later.
Canada is already a dumb country. How else could Trudeau be PM?
True dat.
Where in the Midwest. I’m in the Midwest. Indiana. My husband has had a nevessary pacemaker replacement and a Watchman implant (prevents blood clots, strokes) near end of Covid bs. My brother also had two serious heart procedures, and my husband had a cornea transplant more recently. No problems at any point. Husband didn’t have the Covid shot(s), and that has never been an issue either.
We have Medicare supplemental insirance with no monthly premiums. Many doctors yo choose from, but I opted out of our network, now pay a direct-care practitioner a bit over $100 month and can see him any time, any reason, the same day you call if necessary. And I can have personal phone calls with him, or email conversations.
The medical fascists scared the population to such an extent that if a kid has a running nose, emergency is the next step.
There is absolutely no way out.
The parents are not going to listen to reason.
The medical fascists are going to go full blast to tell the government swamp that they absolutely need more money. Everything will be fine after.
They have been doing that from the time the medical services turned into socialist wasteland.
The media cartel and the medical fascist establishment possibly paid for by the big pharma, insisted on firing and getting rid of doctors that did not agree with them, same with the nurses.
It seriously does look like this country is going to hell in a handbasket.
At least that is the media cartel unanimous reportage.
“The medical fascists are going to go full blast to tell the government swamp that they absolutely need more money. Everything will be fine after.”
Yeah, give hospitals more money and they will only hire more administrators.
To me the big issue is the lack of hospital beds and services (as well as staff shortages). The population in Ontario has grown substantially in the last 2 decades but the number of hospital beds has not. Question: If a hospital wants to build a new wing or expand its facilities, who is responsible for funding that project? How much funding do hospitals receive for something like this? Would love insight from someone in the know.
Re: Kids dying in BC.
How many were jabbed?
Monty Python’s Dead Parrot.
This is our “Free Healthcare”..
For waiting until you die is free..even as over 1/2 of all your taxes go toward supporting the “Healthcare System”.
What difference is there between indefinitely delayed and service denied?
And what difference between promising nonexistent healthcare and fraud?
When Ralph Klein became premier, lo these 35 years past, the Province of Alberta was facing an “imminent health care funding crisis” as costs were rising faster than funding sources.
One brand-spanking new hospital shut done here, an older one blown up there, and hey presto, problem solved.
Export the Klein Solution. Hospitals done blowedup reaal goood.
Evacuate first. Otherwise the severance payments to estates would be counter-productive.

A dead Canadian Liberal MP today!! He had cancer before Covid. I wonder what his health care was like?
A Liberal MP?? Likely his own private Mayo Clinic.
I imagine he jumped the queue like John Horgan did.
He had it well before COVID.
If health care in hospitals is in crisis, we should immediately deploy every one of the 9,886 employees of Health Canada to the hospitals to help out…
at least then they might be useful
Have them mop up the various liquid and solid excretions in the emergency department.
Its almost like you care, as long as they leave your dogs alone.
Almost.

I went to school with several women who took them up on that offer. One lives in Florida and is now a 50 something pistol packin’ Republican nurse.
The melodrama outclasses Tik-tok, does it?
How many entire hospitals could have been built with all the missing billions Trudeau and his corrupted crew have spent on what we will never know?
