    1. The first letter I ever wrote (other than Santa) was to the Hinterland Who’s Who guys.

  1. Scroll down to see Time’s Person of the Year Zelensky in NYC in 1999. Whoa! The author says the pic is real. Much more interesting than Z playing the piano with his penis.

    1. When I was young, in the 1950s and early 1960s, I used to eagerly await TIME magazine coming by mail. Then I read every page, in pre-internet rural Pennsylvania.

No it us a woke, nothing magazine, an apparatchik of the Democratic party.

        1. Mike

As did National Pornographic of which I was a subscriber for near 10 years. Once they got on the BS bandwagon of climate change, that was it..adios morons.

    1. Ummm… before you post a link that unexpectedly downloads a file, maybe you should provide a disclaimer as to what the link actually does.

      1. Downloads a file? I don’t know what you’re talking about because that isn’t happening with me. Maybe it’s something that’s already on your system. You better check. The video is two cats fighting over a bowl of milk. Nothing more.

  2. Been a while since I’ve seen/heard the Petersens … they keep getting better. The arrangement of O’come O’come Emmanuel in a country style with slide guitar is really cool. And damn! That man can play the slide guitar. I don’t know why … but every time I see the Petersens … I’m just feel proud to be white. Where’s my rainbow armband?

Seriously … I’d love to see the Peterson kid’s rendition of Brian Jones last great contribution to the Stones on slide guitar. One of my top 5 most loved Stones songs …

    https://youtu.be/85NECeWqrH0

Yes … I can shift gears from Christmas Music to The Stones

    1. I’m going to pick up a new Takamine today, another guitar I can keep in slide tunings. I made myself a promise to get better at that haunting sound. I may get the Rory Block video on Robert Johnson – good advice from a great lady.
Verily, I shall be dusting my broom.

    2. And the Petersens can shift from Christmas to rock, too. They do an awesome Bohemian Rhapsody. Availabke on YouTube.

    1. I suppose Musk could implement the Democrat solution and let people sleep in tents on the roadside.

That’s if they can find a space amongst all the poop.

        1. Moderation It rarely gets checked…

As per Kate if my memory serves me…

Always copy your post before hitting post comment that way if it goes into moderation you can repaste it and get rid of what may be tagging your post like swear words that’s why I always misspell my swear words or tiny url any links to stop the moderation program from not letting you post…

          I hope that helps Paul…

          1. It does thanks. In this case there were no swear words or triggers I could determine.

Usually I just walk away from SDA for a month or two when this happens. I’ve just returned after getting all my comments kicked a couple of months ago for criticizing and making fun of what I thought was a seriously stupid post (fennus beuwolf) or whatever the posters name is.

            Anyway, it’s a big internet…….

          2. Paul, a few weeks back I had an innocent 3 sentence post sent to moderation. I reposted the sentences 1 at a time trying to find the offending word. I discovered what was being flagged. It was a completely innocuous word, much the same as exist in this post. I didn’t write it down at the time.

Sometimes it just doesn’t make sense what gets flagged.

    1. The Teamsters and pension funds? Is anyone not a cynic? With the historical ooze of the Teamsters you just know the money is in some Italian’s pocket.

  3. BNN-Bloomberg is just reporting that TC Energy has shut down its entire Keystone pipeline system, given a significant oil spill in Nebraska. No link as yet. Oil prices are spiking up.

  4. Brittney Griner, the tall American basketball player, has been released by the Ruskies:
    https://www.ctvnews.ca/world/brittney-griner-released-canadian-born-paul-whelan-left-out-of-russia-u-s-prisoner-swap-1.6185828

SDAers will disagree with me on this. Yes, Ms. Griner is a bit much, and is a lesbian “husband”, etc. But my first junior high-school crush was a tall basketball player. She grew to be 6’2″ and as the next tallest player, in pick up games, I had to guard her. Besides, the Russian Gulag is a terrible place for anybody to be in.

    1. If Griner had, in her wisdom, decided to smuggle drugs into Singapore she’d be coming home in a box. They delight in executing white drug smugglers from countries that think they are superior. So somebody is still sitting in a Russian prison because of Griner’s pure stupidity.

  5. Tucker Carlson asks Why is President Zelensky Banning Christianity in Ukraine?
Given the background, it doesn’t come as a surprise. Zelenskyy has previously made political opposition parties illegal and removed all media from Ukraine that is not state authorized. However, the move to ban a Ukraine orthodox religion is still a considerable escalation into totalitarian extremes; all supported by the U.S. State Dept.
    https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2022/12/07/tucker-carlson-asks-why-is-president-zelenskyy-banning-christianity-in-ukraine/

    1. He’s not. This specific church is just an extension of the Kremlin. They’re being removed everywhere outside of Russia. The Russian Orthodox church is also on its way out being affiliated with Eastern Orthodox as a whole:

      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Moscow%E2%80%93Constantinople_schism

Christians shouldn’t support the Russian Orthodox church in any way shape form. It is an abortion of Christianity. It is a prime example of how church and state needs to be separate.

        1. The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is the same thing but without the treasonous clergy. The Russian Orthodox Church is a criminal organization in the Ukraine. The story is about treason not theology.

          1. Already trying to misdirect and change the narrative.
He banned the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
            He banned all independant news.
            He banned all opposition parties.
Because, as you say, Kremlin, Kremlin EVERYWHERE!!! Russia Russia Russia!
Here is a partial list of Kremlin Operatives in the west, according to you, Allan S, Colon, UnMe and your ilk:

            Tucker Carleson of Fox News.
            Sundance from CTH.
            Nigel Farage.
            Ezra Levant from Rebel News.

Rebel News is now reporting from Russia, Its just a matter of time before Zelensky lets Rebel report from the Ukraine, right? Of course, no sane journo would go there, because Zelensky would kill them and blame Russia, just like he did with the missile strike against Poland.

          2. Ok to clarify because people get confused by this. There us Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU) and there is Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC). They are not the same thing. OCU is subordinated to patriarch in Constantinople, it operates freely in Ukraine. UOC is a wholly owned subsidiary of russian Orthodox Church (rOC) which itself is under Kremlin’s control. It should be banned. It is not banned but slowly Ukraine is putting pressure on it.
Moreover Orthodox church in general has “one country one church doctrine” and OCU is recognized by Patriarch of Constantinople (first among equals aka pope light) as the only orthodox church in Ukraine and UOC is not. UOC is only recognized by rOC, and as explained rOC is owned by Kremlin.

          3. Conclusions:
Orthodox church is doing just fine in Ukraine.
Pootin’s agents of influence who are trying to highjack the church are feeling some pressure and should all be banned.
Pootin’s simps are purposefully mudding the waters.
Hobot is a demagogue and a liar.

    2. Honestly only the extremely simple minded sheep think Zelensky is banning Christianity.

Either Tucker Carlson is an idiot, or he thinks YOU are an idiot. There are no other possibilities.

  6. What happened to Fenris Badwulf?
He was bad, then he was OK, now he’s gone.

Also still waiting for someone to explain how to make avatars work on this site.

    1. C is a fembot, by the way. And, calling them “orcs” is staying in line with her fellow Nazis and their dehumanizing mindset.

      1. Oh you mean like:

        – Ukraine shouldn’t exist
        – Ukrainian culture shouldn’t exist
        – Ukrainian language shouldn’t exist

        Etc

    2. It’s adorable that The Rebel considers this to be ‘reporting’. In any event, the sanctions were primarily about grinding out Russia’s warfighting capabilities, which looks increasingly successful given the T62s they have to sent to the front…often to get captured.

  7. Why?

Save the Manuals: Lexus Could Bring a Row-Your-Own Option to EVs

    https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/cars/news-blog/save-the-manuals-lexus-could-bring-a-row-your-own-option-to-evs-44497896

One comment notes some of my questions:

“I don’t get it — and by that I mean I don’t understand what it is doing (or how it works).

[Bonus: In my simple mind, an actual two-speed transmission applied to an EV would yield greater range and/or improved performance for the same reason that gearing works on a bicycle. E.g., make the motor(s) smaller, keep the same 0-60, improve the range due to lower current draw at highway speeds (still with sufficient torque because EV). Depending on transmission type, minimal drivetrain losses? Some additional weight but not as much as adding battery capacity; same thing with cost.]”

Two speed?! Hey, if anybody at Lexus is reading this, I’ve got an old cast iron Powerglide kicking around somewhere. Yours for a negotiable (upwards) fee.

    1. The only 3 factors that affect fuel economy (or how far you can get per unit energy):
      1. Rolling resistance: Heavier means more. Harder tires means less, thus steel wheels on trains.
      2. Coefficient of drag: Bigger frontal area means more, but there are lotsa tricks you can do to optimize.
      3. Efficiency of transmission: How much of the engine’s energy actually hits the ground through the wheels. This is generally better when the engine is attached directly to the drive axle, without having to go through differentials, transmissions, etc, another thing that is often done in trains.

      The problems with EVs are:
      1. Battery tech is not robust enough to deal with the rigors of driving cars on the roads.
      2. The energy density of battery tech is too low.
      3. Batteries don’t last long enough to be cost-effective in cars or trucks.
      4. Charging times, aka power transfer rates, are too long.

Now, if someone made a good hybrid, with electric motors at the axles (and those things can be optimized to spin at driving speeds), and say, a constant RPM diesel engine running at it’s most efficient speed, with some small capacitor and battery banks to smooth power delivery out to maximize efficiency, that might give us an increase of 20% or so in miles/kW. (yes, I combine Imperial and metric units for fun)
VW made a 100 mpg gas-powered “car” a few years ago, by minimizing rolling resistance and the coefficient of drag. It could carry one man, a quart of milk, a loaf of bread and a stick of butter, and was smaller than a Honda Valkyrie bike.

People really do need to learn their math and physics.

  8. Not sure why the emphasis on wearing a kilt. I’ve had a Utilikilt for over a dozen years now, hasn’t manufactured any rape fantasies yet. Yes, it’s worn properly. The ladies seem to like it. Get lots of compliments from ’em.

Woke Loudoun County superintendent is FIRED after grand jury found school lied to parents about kilt-wearing boy, 15, raping girl in girls’ bathroom and ‘looked out for their own interests’: Her furious father says ‘they just lie, lie, lie’

    1. Incredibly tacky and indeed evil if true. She has gone off her rocker. She used to have savvy. I think her degeneration makes it less likely that she will ever be premier again, but much more dangerous if she did become premier again.
