5 Replies to “Moving The Goalposts”

  1. Sorry but my trust in all these ‘expert’ opinions is zero. 2 years ago we were assured that “trust us, economy will come back, it will be just 2 weeks to flatten the curve”. And we had lots of “trust us, we all have to do this”. All this crap on top of other layers of “trust us, climate change…” etc etc.
My impression is that we live in very difficult times and ALL our leaders were raised in times of plenty and they don’t know + are not prepared to handle World War conditions. Nice diplomas and titles and all they know is to promise things, be inclusive, equi-this-and-that and that’s it.
N America and Europe had decades of easy. Now that is hard, no one on the ship knows any more what to do.

  2. It’s not the goal posts. The problem is that we have too many “educated” people who only know one thing. DO AS YOU ARE TOLD. If they have to lie, they will lie. With inflation, everyone knew Modern Monetary Theory would lead to inflation. People who believed the lies are the milch cows for the state.

  3. Immediately after the election farce…admitting the true state of the Union…
Who knows, one day Stats Canada might publish the true inflation numbers for Emperor Justine the Petulant’s Conn Federation…
    Only by accident.
What will be our new unit of barter?
    Alien Ears?
    Progressive Brains?
Or gold and silver as the first two are in short supply , along with the wonder metal unobtainium.

    1. Doing the same shit over and over expecting a different result, someone famous once said that. Well, the results continue to be disastrous.

  4. “…the lack of labor slack, or labor tightness, is responsible for some 3.4% of underlying inflation in July 2022.”
so let’s drive millions out of work to hold the line on wages as prices go up cuz vote buying by politicians, supply chain issues cuz of plandemic and a war used as a pretext for driving up food and energy costs, e.g a 35% tariff by Ottawa on fertilizer, money Ottawa pockets coming directly out of the pockets of farmers.
P.S. Coloured diesel just went to $2.15 in SW Ontario
