  1. It’s entirely about replacing white, conservative Canadians with non-whites who will reliably vote liberal. Canada’s fate is to become a frozen version of Brazil.

    1. As an actual immigrant it is both amusing and sad to read the comments here and on the original Twitter post. When my family immigrated the deal was that unless you were a resident of the British Empire you had to be sponsored by an American or Canadian family and you had to work under their supervision for a specified period. We ended up on a sheep farm.

      I suppose this was to weed out potential riffraff and other undesirables from mainland Europe but it was also a sentence of forced labour. I still remember those early times of sheep, chickens and sadness.

      Since then I worked my way up and have always been interested in immigrants since they are my people so to speak. I also work in health care so I see many people including immigrants of my vintage who fought for everything just to get ahead in this country. Of course I also went and visited the home country where the progressive disease was in full bloom and I could see what was going to happen. “Thank God!”, I thought, “that I live in Canada and this could never happen.” But I was wrong.

      Since I have the vantage point of healthcare I see that our new arrivals often speak little to zero English and are often 100% supported by the taxpayer. We need burger flippers? Good luck with that.

      What we really need are tradesmen of all sorts, as well as professionals and entrepreneurs. What I see instead are native born Canadians battling for front row seats to welcome the most destitute poor from the least likely corners of the world. By least likely I mean countries that despise us and for some reason you win FB and Twitter points if these homeless waifs settle in you rental property where the rent is paid by us taxpayers. Indeed these coddled poor are welcomed and pay not one cent of taxes, whilst locals battle to be seen helping them since image is now everything. Suddenly I am longing for Fenris Badwulf’s Broken Telephone Cafe. Sanity prevails within that cafe.

    1. We did build an Ark. It was called Canada, and it was generally constructed in the Fifties and Sixties by hard working immigrants mainly from the UK and Western Europe. It proved so popular that the immigrants that created it were able to spread the idea back to their homelands and the governments there copied those ideas and were able to staunch the flow of skilled labour from their countries. Canada helped them at that poimt and dissuaded Western Europeans from coming here and under the leadership of Trudeau 1.0 we started an immigration policy focused on Third World countries. That idea worked so well that Third World countries couldn’t export their people fast enough and now fifty years later the Ark is sinking. Can we do it all again, doubtful, since the Ark is already awash in the lower decks and the captains feet are still dry on the bridge. We are past the point of closing the bulkhead doors.

  3. We used to separate ourselves from the shithole world with immigration restrictions and import tariffs. We used to force a premium value on Canadian labour by deliberate shortage. Maybe we should pay waiters $30 an hour instead of importing the 21st century equivalent of brown skinned slave labour who will work for peanuts. Our minimum wage underclass pays almost no taxes and demands equal services. They then bring in their parents who haven’t seen a doctor in 50 years and need a lot of catch up surgery. Why in hell are we doing this to ourselves?

  8. Current immigration policy is shear madness and will take us into the third world. Immigration, based on our experience during the 50′ and the 60′ s was largely beneficial and that legacy has resulted in little opposition to the current madness unfortunately.

          1. A little more than a century ago the prairies were practically empty and needed immigration to populate the forms which were virtually the only industry at the time. But by 1928 Saskatchewan had a population of 1.0 million people. So almost everybody was an immigrant.

            It is not valid to compare the experience of 100 years ago with today.

    1. Yes, because we need to tap into that vast supply of skilled engineers, doctors, tradespeople and entrepreneurs that are just dying on the vine in places like Somalia, Jordan, the Sudan, Guatemala, etc.

      …..maybe the banks just need more people to make questionable loans to. Plus, the govt wants to ‘pad’ GDP stats, and every welfare check cashed by an Eritrean counts twds that total.

Even the wealthy immigrants don’t pay their ‘fair share’ of taxes hence, the attempt at make-up via the grotesque increase in ppty taxes here in BC. Decades back now, Herb Grubel dud some outstanding work debunking the ‘net contributor’ nonsense, and even back in the late eighties it was estimated it took at least 6-7 years for an average immigrant to start ‘paying their way’. That was before the wholesale importation of groups like those from the Horn of Africa and the Middle East, where govt handouts have been the norm since Mohamed spread his poison and armies throughout the region.

All the biggest expansions of the American welfare state concur or immediately proceed the period of little to no immigration from the 1920s to 1965.

            This isn’t actually the study I wanted to find. The one I was interested in compared immigration and welfare over periods of time and between different American states over the same time period and found that more immigration = less welfare.

            Canada’s ongoing immigration boom will be a boon to its political right. Actually, it already is going by the BC muni elections a few weeks ago.

        1. If an average immigrant 1) receives a net $6000 a year from taxpayers, and 2) prioritizes more immigration of their family members; then the only way to get their vote is to promise more welfare and immigration.

          In my home town there are 10,000 people without a family doctor. How many doctors could we hire if we didn’t transfer a net $6000 x 405,000 to those who arrived just this year.

  13. Very few of today’s immigrants will ever pay for themselves ever. Yes some do and some of these outperform the native born. We need to fire 2/3 of the civil disservice and that would eliminate any labor shortage. It would also increase family size as the civil disservice is mostly (not all) women. That decreases the need for immigration. Today’s immigrants that work are mostly affirmative action hires in government that the parasitical banking ‘industry’ which is just an extension of gubmint. Sensible immigration policy would have 20-30,0000 per year.

  15. Quite a herd of elephants in the room regarding immigration. So, I will be silent about the important stuff and restrict my comments to circumstancial matters.

    Firstly, these economic powerhouses of diversity may spend a few months/years in whatever place they are put, but they always migrate to Toronto, the City of Light. I will not call Toronto a plantation, because that word has a bad connotation.

    Secondly, it was observed that when the missiles started to fly in the Ukraine, all of their diversity fled.

    I only really talk about this stuff at gatherings where people leave their spying cell phones in a Faraday cage. Nothing will happen until the bought and paid for media is purged. And when that happens, other things will happen, too.

What could possibly be wrong when 35% of the population is foreign born or the children of immigrants / What salad dressing will the Liberals or Conservatives apply to hold the country together ? It is my experience that most Canadians take their society for granted, are ignorant of their collective history and don’t belong to a political party. With such a lack of commitment or participation will the outcome matter ?

    A friend mentioned in a letter in the 60’s an acquaintance who had left the states in protest over the Vietnam war and was now in Canada protesting unemployment.

    Can’t see people who can’t find jobs supporting the Liberals for long. Maybe that will incentivize growing the economy.

    Likewise can’t see immigrants being impressed by the current grievance groups the Liberals pander to.

    I’m optimistic. People plus resources. Politicians willing to release the resources to save their own jobs. Could end well.
