OTTAWA—Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland has told her cabinet colleagues that if they want money for new programs in the next federal budget, they’ll have to help pay for them with some cuts of their own.

The directive, contained in a letter obtained by the Star, comes as Freeland is making the rounds to manage expectations about how far the government can or will go to directly help Canadians grappling with inflation, and the repercussions of the rising interest rates intended to tackle it.

    Freeland?
    The Red Star?

    Twilight zone?

    1. Pierre gets results. The liberals don’t get that just like oh tool there’s no reason for someone to vote poliviere light and mark.an x for Trudeau. Might as well vote for the real thing.

  2. Tim Hortons in Woodstock installed blue lighting in their washroom to hamper drug users.
    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/london/is-installing-blue-lights-the-answer-to-deterring-drug-use-in-public-bathrooms-1.6619050
Ace reporter Becky Zandbergen points out that “Woodstock does not have a safe injection site” – No, they don’t honey but maybe you could offer up your abode as a possible safe house.
I personally don’t care for Tim Hortons, drug users or media mutt, Ms.Zandbergen so I really don’t have a dog in this fight.
Have at it. And don’t forget…God doesn’t like a quitter.

    1. Perfect response. Leave em there for a week or longer, with no shitter…. and ffs stop providing them with food….NOT YOUR Problem.
Lock the doors with Armed Guards inside on shifts…don’t want any damage to your vehicles…& turn off the heat.

When they finally decide they need to leave the premises, have them sign documentation starting they will be financially Responsible for Any clean up and Lost sales caused by their actions.

    1. Uniforms – 2 things. Russia/s military is a million strong so 1.5 million is likely only a 6 – 8 month supply at best. Second thing – corruption is the norm in Russia. The full order was likely never produced.

    2. There’s a report somewhere about 10 years old that explains the massive corruption in the Russian ministry of defence. 20-30% of the budget straight up disappeared. This doesn’t include things like being sold knockoff items with a kickback to the Russian MoD buyer.

    1. If the Greens are mad, then you’re on the right track. Those Greens should glue themselves to the fuel rods.

    2. The Greens are apoplectic are they..??

Simple solution: Find out where they live, Give everyone a 200 watt Solar panel w/12V battery. At the same time shut off the grid supplied power to their domicile.
      Permanently.

      Walk the talk assholes

      1. I’d also sell them an exercise bike hooked up to some sort of small generator, so they could have a little light while someone is pedalling.

    1. Liberalism is a mental disorder.

The first woman interviewed was exactly right when she said, “I don’t know anything.”

    2. No longer surprised. The day after Obama won, Howard Stern went to the streets of New York and asked people if they are happy that the Obama-Palin team won… most were happy.

    3. Its painful watching these videos from university campus. Canadian ones would be the same. It’s not their choice in candidate that’s bothersome its watching them struggle having a conversation with someone asking simple questions.

    4. …..”yea, uh like I guess”….

That response right there demonstrating the influence of LEFTIST WOKE ideology in Universities across the Western Hemisphere.
      BRAIN DEAD

    1. The environmental impact study alone will eat up much of that while they dither about.

A F*ckin porta potty would be up and running in a few hours.
      But something, something , racisss….

    2. I see your $1.7 million toilet and raise you a $20 million heated sidewalk in Berlin, New Hampshire. As one resident said, “None of the stores on main street are open.” How will they afford the ongoing operation and maintenance? Imagine the electrical bill and the CO2 footprint.

    1. Matthew Good needs to assume room temperature as soon as possible. In fact, apply that to any fool who thinks those who refused to allow poison into their bodies should be killed or locked up or any freaking thing, except being left alone to live their lives in freedom.

      1. Liberty… allows free people the right to be, to think, to worship, to live and to let live.

The left doesn’t believe any of that. Especially the let live part.

        Let that sink in.!

    2. What a POS. I used to enjoy his music and met the band on a trip through Toronto many years ago.

Didn’t he and the wife to decide to live off the grid a number of years ago? With a new baby, no electricity, and no disposable diapers? Solar-powered guitar? Looks like life’s been good to Matthew.

    3. His comments welcomed by the Entire City Council of..??
hmm lets see now, EVERY major city in Canada ??
      Especially Ottawa

I’d see this Fat NAZI pos in the identical postion, I’d see the Turd in.
A re-enactment of the final hour of Nicolae Ceausescu.

    4. Never listen to a musician when they decide to offer their opinions on anything other than music.

    1. AH!!! Please, warn people if there’s going to be that much ugly at the top of the page when it opens. Happy frickin’ Halloween…

    1. How did they manage that? I am so regretful that the same is not happening in Canada. We seem to be stuck with Trudeau no matter how much people hate him.

      1. Actually, I think the federal Conservative caucus gave Erin O’Toole the heave-ho, after he said he would not meet with Freedom Convoy protesters. But you’re right that it is a rare event on this side of the pond.

  3. Under the heading of nothing works any more…. Ordered an item from a tool manufacturer in Pennsylvania, cost about $350US. It’s been sitting in Mississauga waiting to be cleared through customs by CBSA before Canada Post can ship it to Sodom on the Rideau for the last six days. Six fracking days. That’s longer than it took for me to order and the vendor to get it to Mississauga via USPS. A pox on all of them.

    1. I’m betting that like many orgs these days, the employees are all at home on ZOOM or Teams, cleaning the house, waxing their balls or whatever…

It took me 3 flippin weeks to get an application to re-write some exams approved..in that time I lost the opportunity to apply to a cpl of Excellent positions – 3 weeks…?
When & at what time did I get the e-mailed approval.??

On a Thursday evening 9.40 PM in Calgary.

    2. And that is why I’ve been using overnight or 2 day delivery from UPS or FEDEX. Yes it can be a little costly, it includes insurance, all fees and brokerage services, but you get the product through. Brought a lot of camera gear, home reno stuff and a few other expensive pieces in that way. Still have to pay the taxes on top of that, but the broker gets that done with you.
A bit of a bitch that we need to do things this way.

  4. Will Canadians be the last to know about the vaccine dangers?
    https://www.conservativewoman.co.uk/thanks-to-aseem-malhotra-mps-finally-give-vaccine-dangers-a-hearing/
I suspect yes, as our Prime Minister is still pushing the dangerous and ineffective vaccines, and Canadians (with thanks to our complacent media) are compketely unaware of the problems being found.
From the comments: “On 14 Sept 22, over 400 doctors, scientists and professionals from more than 34 countries declared an international medical crisis due to “diseases and death associated with the ‘COVID-19 vaccines’.” Not a peep about this in our Canadian media.

    1. “Will Canadians be the last to know about the vaccine dangers?”

Not those of us who have been ignoring the official narrative from the get go.

  5. Nice to see Anthony Furey join True North on a full time basis. They are doing a good job with subscription based news and opinion. I am a subscriber and am pleased that Furey is back in. On the other hand I dropped my subscription to The Line. Had enough of the shallow opinions and self aggrandizing of Matt Gurney.

  6. Holy smokes…

Moderna CEO admits to past lies: “COVID is simply the flu, harmless to the healthy.”

    https://behindtheblack.com/behind-the-black/essays-and-commentaries/moderna-ceo-admits-to-past-lies-covid-is-simply-the-flu-harmless-to-the-healthy/

“I think it’s going to be like the flu. If you’re a 25-year-old, do you need an annual booster every year if you’re healthy?

“You might want to… but I think it’s going to be similar to flu where it’s going to be people at high-risk, people above 50 years of age, people with comorbidities, people with cancer and other conditions, people with transplants.”

    1. Very good to see this. An Ottawa connection here with mention of the crazy majority candidates who think they can impact the climate. I am seeing the man-made climate change claim being challenged recently, and the challenges getting a bit of media attention. Are we turning a corner?

  7. Female Aussie Dr. stuck between two 350 lbr’s on 3 hr flight (American Airlines) in the middle seat. totally PISSED…!!

    https://twitter.com/SydneyLWatson/status/1579609743244800006?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1579609743244800006%7Ctwgr%5E0c489a3187f92a5975be07e43d39bd93883c3af7%7Ctwcon%5Es1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.yourtango.com%2Fnews%2Fwoman-american-airlines-between-big-people

But one comment to her tweet is 1000% bang on.
“If I have to pay for an overage in Baggage weight for 5 lbs, why does some 350 lb behemoth not be forced to pay for either a First Class or 2 Regular seats…??”

PRECISELY. (and the take way comment – ALWAYS spend the xtra 20 bucks for seat choice: Isle & on the exit row.)

  8. Thucy…

Funny now that 85% of the Western Hemisphere population has been Jonestown Jabbed at least twice if not more…the truth starts to come out…

“Aw gee, we didn’t know, Sorry bout that”)

  9. Chicken’s Razor
    https://doomberg.substack.com/p/cbe39748-13a2-4daa-aeeb-85be230740cd

“In August, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz led a delegation of senior political and business leaders on a trip to Canada. Desperate for every joule of primary energy he could get his hands on, Scholz’s primary mission was to beg Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to consider fast-tracking the approval of new liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facilities along Canada’s Atlantic Coast, something Trudeau has consistently been loath to consider… “
