  1. The important question is why is this happening? I think the answer is obvious. People should be thankful there isn’t a Hitler in the wings. He would win a landslide given how the left has governed.

        (Conflict between the Soviets & Nazi Germany was a turf war: Crips vs Bloods, Hells Angels vs Bandidos. The current leftist manifestation has, as they generally do, rewritten history in order to point fingers away from themselves.)

          At the foundational level, their structure is the same, their methods are the same, and their objectives are the same.
          All the rest is cosmetic

      2. The concept of left and right doesn’t really work anymore. Perhaps the side that gives you what you think you want (left) versus the side that gives you what you think you need (right).

        1. Your point is valid, but I think the concept of right and left still functions, it has just been temporarily displaced by the global elites forcing us to focus on up and down.

          1. The concept of left and right at the extreme ends being polar opposites was always questionable. The political spectrum is more of a circle, when far left and far right descend into totalitarianism, what are the differences? A few in form, but none in substance.

          2. I agree with Peter about a circular political spectrum, but I think the divide is between those who seek more government control and intervention and those who seek less. Leftist ideologies want and need more government, conservative (right) ideologies want and need smaller governments.
            This works for me.

          3. So true, Peter, I long ago realized that if you go far enough left and right, they are near indistinguishable and both become tyrannical in forcing their ideologies.

            Makes you wonder how western societies would appear today if the ‘evangelical right’ had discovered cancel culture first.

          4. CO – totalitarians need to hide themselves by whatever is needed to get themselves into power. Christ was the opposite of cancel culture, and thats why those who follow his words and actions are targetted as undesirables (or untrustworthy) by totalitarians of all stripes. Even those who wear the clothing of the flock (and yes, I think that there are lots of these out there).

          5. C_Miner, I don’t disagree with any of your points, except to say that I believe different forms of Christianity have often practiced ‘cancel culture’ in one form or another over the centuries.

            There IS a fundamental difference between the morality of the far right and lefts, but Christianity can only go so far in keeping a man moral… ‘absolute power corrupts absolutely’ is just such a truthful saying. I think the current pope is a primo example of that point.

            And, yes, I was pondering the other day how most every prominent Democrat claims to be a practicing Christian, yet the ideologies they push fly directly in the face of those claims(yet another area the Reps have failed to effectively challenge the Dems on). It is bewildering to me, an atheist raised a Catholic, how anyone can ‘fight for abortion’ and also claim to be a practicing Catholic. Yet, churches seem just as mute as the GOP in pointing out this rank hypocrisy of many Dem leaders.

            All IMHO, of course.

          7. The supposed divide between Left and Right has been false ever since it became politically convenient to distance the Communists from the National Socialists.

            At the fundamental level, they operate the same way and with the same objectives – rule by the oligarchy known as “The Party”. All the differences are cosmetic. Little more than slogans and symbols.

            But it’s difficult to justify sending arms to Russia if we accept that they are just as bad as the NAZIs we are fighting. (To be fair, that was not as well known at the time).
            It’s difficult of Socialist academics to espouse Socialism if they can’t distance the most obvious example of Socialism, from the obvious evil of the National Socialists.
            …… and for decades it was politically convenient for Stalin to label anyone resisting Soviet rule (including the Ukrainian independence movement that was not crushed until the 1950s) as as “NAZIs”.

    1. True. And they only know enough history to know “Nazis were bad, and I’m good, so everyone who is against me must be a Nazi.”

      Critical thinking isn’t on their list of skills either. (re: “I’m good”)

        1. Have you looked up the definition of fascist recently? All the (on line) references say the same thing, virtually word for word.
          Interestingly, the definition is not the one that it used to be.

          1. Mussolini was a socialist. Why he quit the socialists was they opposed Italy entering WWI because he was a nationalist. National Socialism? Where have we heard that before? Most modern definitions say the prime element of fascism is dictatorship which is bizarre as dictatorships have been the predominant form of government in human history and most aren’t fascists. Stalin killed more Russians than Hitler but somehow he wasn’t fascist. Bizarre!

      1. Stalin labeled anyone resisting Soviet rule a “NAZI”….. including the Ukrainian independence movement.
        Stalin’s wanna-be heir is just repeating the old propaganda.

        Amazing how people rant about how unreliable “the media” is, while blindly accepting anything from the Russian State-Controlled MEDIA.

  10. Why can’t the media and people confused about Nazi, right wing, left wing and all its derivatives follow Dr. Thomas Sowell’s political scale.

    The scale shows that on the right wing is the INDIVIDUAL and on the left wing is the STATE.

    Governments that support the rights and freedoms of the individual like democracies are found on the right wing. At the end of the right wing is anarchy and chaos in that these people do not want any form of government. On the left side of the scale is the State and all those governments who support its power like Nazis, communists and socialists. At the end of the scale is totalitarianism.

    Pretty simple yet we see the media call someone far right and also a Nazi!
