I Went To The “Woman Smashes Glass Ceiling Of Politics” News Media

And all I got was a lousy screed on fascism.

Almost exactly 100 years after Benito Mussolini staged his “March on Rome” mass demonstration, during which his National Fascist Party seized power, Italy appears likely to hand control of its government to Giorgia Meloni, another leader of the nationalist right.

Charismatic and driven, the 45-year-old Meloni, a parliamentarian, doesn’t hold a university degree, but as head of Fratelli d’Italia (Brothers of Italy), a far-right-wing party she formed a decade ago, the single mother has campaigned on a platform based on her belief in the virtues of God, motherhood and patriotism, while decrying immigration and LGBTQ rights. Polls show her and Brothers of Italy poised for victory in a Sept. 25 parliamentary election that will determine Italy’s next prime minister.

    1. I get paid over $85 per hour working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I’d be able to do it but my best friend earns over 10k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless.
      Here’s what I’ve been doing…https://earnincome00.blogspot.com

  1. Funny how main stream common sense is now fascism. I guess when communism and actual fascism are actually 2 sides of the same coin, the communists need to define something else as fascism.

    1. I agree Greg, my impression from reading the article is that she is the opposite of radical, she advocates for common sense and reality.

But extremists have to portray common sense as extremism these days in order to pretend they aren’t extreme.

      1. She is trying to save what’s left of Italian culture. It is a rich history … tied to the ancient Greek culture …
She has my vote … We need people like her to step up fearlessly and save us from the coming global gulag.

The left may see her methods and philosophy as being harsh and not much fun …
I see her ideas as having longevity and success.
I see the left’s ideas as a lot of fun briefly, then it’s misery, slavery, shortages of food and energy, lots of crime, no justice … Racial and politicial violence and so on ….

But wait .. we are already living in the image of our leftist masters aren’t we.

        .

  2. Melissa Rossi is a travel writer whos writing seems to be wandering too far from her limited area of expertise. I wondered if she always seemed to find stories to highlight her agenda an bias. One look at her all-over-the map repertoire supports the premise that she is unqualified to provide meaningful comment beyond simple ad hominin attacks.

  3. The left is too dumb to know what the word Fascism means, hello liberals it means the reigning government colludes with corporations to take away your liberties and freedom. Translation, the Biden’s regime is an actual fascist regime?

  4. I would take it with a grain of salt, Yahoo News is garbage. It’s even worse (bigger POC + smellier) than BBC News for ex.

    1. You are correct that Yahoo news is garbage. But you have to look at who owns Yahoo. And that Yahoo news was the outlet Steele used to leak the piss dossier. This fact that the issue was now “in the news” was used to by yhe FBI start an investigation into it, and Trump. That’s not conspiracy, Comey said so. The important fact here is that Yahoo news is one of those outlet used by the swamp, and she’s on the shit list.

  5. Ben Harnwell – one of the warrooms reality based international contributors – is predicting she will get more than 2/3rds of the seats in parliament, which would allow her to make constitutional changes.

Poilievre needs a mulronyesque victory – over 50% of the total vote with over 75% of electorate showing up, and winning 75% of the seats – with John Turner being the Kim Campbell of his party (or maybe Campbell was the John Turner of the Conservatives), taking the beating in lieu of PET.

Poilievre needs to not move an inch to the left, and needs to solidify his commitment to true conservatism and make enshrining ACTUAL rights into the charter part of his platform, and we might see a similar victory.

    1. “Poilievre needs to not move an inch to the left, and needs to solidify his commitment to true conservatism and make enshrining ACTUAL rights into the charter part of his platform, and we might see a similar victory.”

May it be as you said!

    2. make enshrining ACTUAL rights into the charter part of his platform

Non-starter. We’re not the US, modifying the Charter or Constitution is effectively impossible. And that was by design. Plus, given the dumpster fire of positive and negative rights in the Charter, adding even simple property rights would logjam the SCOC for decades.

People really need to stop believing in the magical power of documents. The “justice” system in this country sh*ts all over the Constitution and Charter now. Add whatever you want to the Charter, if you don’t fix that problem it won’t matter.

      1. I don’t see the downside to logjamming the SCOC for decades, they have screwed up enough things already, with shining examples like Gladue and Oakes.

      2. Logjamming your Supreme Court is always a risk. Who will be the “impartial law abiding judges” actually on your court when the suits show up?

Thankfully for the Second Amendment Folks here in the US? Heller v. DC was decided 5-4. McDonald V. Chicago was decided 5-4. One more Liberal Judge? Both would have been 4-5 losses for our enumerated Bill of Rights civil rights to keep and bear weapons inside our own homes, much less in public.

  6. It amazes me how far left the media and cultural norms worldwide have become. What we consider normal and just common sense is now derided as fascism . This has happened in just a generation. The good news is that apparently people are starting to wake up. It’s happening in Sweden and now hopefully in Italy. Fifty years ago Meloni’s positions would have been mainstream.

    1. Yes “nationalism” is now automatically described as “fascist”. Mussolini invented Fascism as he deemed it not necessary for the state to actually OWN the means of production, a la communism, to achieve Socialism. Hilter invented “National” Socialism, although really it was “Racial Socialism” but RAZI doesn’t sound so threatening. All were Socialist theories with Socialism as the goal.

      1. the International Socialists lead by the USSR had no real problem with the National Socialists, until the National Socialists turned on them in 1941.

        1. They did try to sabotage them early through…. you guessed it, ANTIFA. The Anti Fascist movement in Germany were Communists. Who funded them? I dunno….

      2. Ditto. Mussolini was a socialist for a long time. But “workers of the world unite” seemed impractical, so he thought uniting the workers of Italy instead -through nationalism- was the way to go. Not owning the means of production was OK as long as you controlled them. Black shirts were used to convince the skeptics. Fascism is Nationalist Socialism. Nazism is the same but included a racial components as enemies of the regime. Mussolini was a darling of the American left for a long time. There were songs about him. As for Hitler… he said the Nazis were socialists. German National Socialists. NSDAP, National Socialist German Workers Party. When people say “Nazi”, which they do a lot nowadays, I like to use the long form. With emphasis on SOCIALIST.

        1. Communist Economics: Kill the Owners! Kill the managers! Workers own the means of production!
Production plummets, everything breaks, more killings start.
Collectivize the Farms! We tell you what to plant, what to harvest, and we will take it all away. Welcome to the Holodomor!

National Socialist Economics: You Owners and Managers still own your business, BUT YOU Will Do Exactly as WE Tell You! You will produce exactly what we tell you, when we tell you, or ELSE. You owners and managers live as long as you produce.

        2. Well now, Mussolini deserves a bit more respect than that. He had been an orthodox Marxist until the experience of the war, and especially of the post-war depression, convinced him that Marx was wrong, and the industrial working class could not become the dominant class in society. He considered the road to socialism to lie in the unproductive classes, those who did not participate in the official economy. They were destined to become dominant in society, and socialism would require government in their interest. Of course, their interests are quite different from those of the industrial proletariat, and where the one class is best treated as a universal global phenomenon, the other is best dealt with nation by nation. And so he made his contribution. The coalition of interests he identified – the dependent, the unemployable, the bureaucracy, the criminal underclass – contribute nothing to the economy, yet in every nation they have become something like the dominant class in society, and government in most of the western world governs in its interest.

Look, I don’t actually like Mussolini, but credit where due. There’s some real truth in his ideas. He just didn’t do a very good job of using it wisely.

  7. If you really want to see how this woman scares the ever living excrement out of them, take a look at the Atlantic piece. They’re so upset that they spent a good portion of the piece trying to rationalize Hillary Clinton’s side ways compliment of Meloni. I think what happened is that Clinton was uninformed on what was going on in Italian politics, and she was doing a “keep my face in the news” interview. She took the route of “strong women in politics is a positive thing” without really knowing that Meloni’s political positions were diametrically opposed to her own.

The name “Mussolini” showed up in the article a couple dozen times as did “fascism.” The funny thing is that they used the term “far-right” so many times in an effort to portray a negative connotation that the term is now ripe for some enterprising conservative to grasp onto it and portray it as a good thing.

  8. Nice to see North American feminists tripping over themselves in their rush to support their Iranian sisters…oh wait, they’re not.

  9. In his book “The Political and Social Doctrine of Fascism” Mussolini described fascism as “being a left-wing collectivistic ideology in opposition to socialism, liberalism, democracy, and individualism.” Not sure how socialism got in there, esp. since the use of National Socialist as the moniker for the other famous fascist gov’t.
Still, it sounds like most Western governments, right?
His most pithy definition, from a 1928 speech.. “Everything in the State, nothing outside the State, nothing against the State.”

In other words, if you oppose JT or Sleepy Joe, or support truckers or DJT, expect a visit from the local Stasi. Nothing against the state – that would be an Unacceptable View, or being against the (conveniently undefined) Soul of a Nation.

But don’t expect anybody in the media to be aware of what fascism really is or was. The myth that fascism is the opposite of Communism started because Hitler and Stalin were rivals. Yeah….so are the Crips and the Bloods, but they are rivals not because they are polar opposites, but because they are of the same ilk, fighting over the same territory. So Fascism vs Socialism is not Right vs Left – it is two slight variations of leftist ideology. A more accurate continuum would not range between fascism and communism, but between total control on the one side (where fascism and communism both live, separated only by a bit of jargon) and total freedom on the other, which (depending on the morals and self-control of your population) could descend into Anarchy.
These days, fascism, like the other labels thrown at her, PP, DJT and others who speak for common sense, are merely labels and tools to shut down discussion. Notice that when using those labels the media never gives specifics. So what specifics about her platform give you such umbrage? Or do you just toss labels and call names because you know that if you attack specific policies, the reader may say “Wait a minute! That policy makes a lot of sense.”
It is all about tribalism, and showing what Side you are on. No specifics, facts, or knowledge of what the labels actually mean.

  10. I’ll add a bit to what first timer and others have written.
People are either Statists or they’re not.

Meloni seems more palatable than others, but I don’t want the government telling me what I can and can’t do and I doubt that appeals to her. She’s a Statist and they’re all enemies of individual liberty.

Find me a politician who’ll swear on their life that they’ll disempower, reduce and declaw the malignant behemoth that all governments seem to have become and maybe I’ll listen.

  11. Yahoo has the temerity to call her a Fascist, in the mold of Mussolini … and Blame Bannon for her success … while Fascist American Federal Police handcuff Bannon on totally FRAUDULENT charges.

Yeah … who’s the Fascist in this story, Yahoo?

    1. Yeah I saw Bannon in there too. Flavor of the day as he’s in legal trouble. Obviously, she’s guilty by association.

      1. He’s in ZERO legal trouble. He was paid a FEE for some “Build the Wall” Charity … and might I say … a farrrrrr smaller FEE than Chelsea Clinton collects annually from the Clinton Foundation.

It’s not illegal to be PAID for services rendered.

  12. The fascists were big government loving socialists. How else does a dictator maintain a stranglehold on the people?

It isn’t achieved through low taxes and small government, which is what the right stand for!

  13. How else does a dictator maintain a stranglehold on the people?

The black shirts. The Nazis had the brown shirts. The Democrats have antifa and BLM.
