James Topp is suing Global News

In recent years, legacy media outlets appear to have forsaken fundamental journalistic principles. Instead of reporting the news, they instead seem focused on spinning The Narrative™. In the process, they have not hesitated to explicitly or implicitly accuse individuals & groups of the very worst of attributes.

Today, on James Topp’s Telegram channel, the following was published:

Thanks to your support we were able to retain Mr. David Elmaleh and his law-firm RE|LAW LLP to take forward our legal proceedings in regards to the article written by Global News on the 18th of August. Ms. Gilmore, Global News, and the parent company Corus Entertainment Inc. have been served with a Notice of Libel. We are publicizing this development to mitigate against the reputational harm Mr. Topp has sustained by being called a white supremacist on the internet.
We are very pleased that Mr. Elmaleh will represent us if such matters come up again in the future.
We will try to keep you up to date to the progress.

  1. Someone should sue the government funded media for not including their massive funding conflict of interest disclosure in every political story or newscast mentioning politics.
How can they pretend that there is no conflict of interest when they would go broke without that corporate welfare?
It must be a significant portion of their revenue as they keep screaming that they will go bankrupt without it.

  2. Parent company Corus. Hmmm same guys who gave “conservative” Danielle Smith a radio show, after she destroyed the Wildrose.
Could have given James Topp one as well – but chose to try to destroy him instead.

Hope that clarifies some things for Danielle Smith supporters.

Will be donating to Mr Topp – wonder if my bank account will get frozen?

  3. I remember when Global News here in Edmonton was ITV News with Doug Main as its principle anchor. They were pretty good back then. They would finish off each broadcast day with the Our Father. Now look at them.

  4. James Topp criticizes the Liberal government that funds Global News.
Global News calls James Topp a white supremacist.
    Quid pro quo.

    1. Unrelated but the Canola Council of Canada is currently looking for Client Support Specialists. A successful candidate will required to be fully vaccinated against COVID 19, including receiving any booster shot recommended by Health Canada or Manitoba Health. As farmers, we are calling the Canola Council and asking for out check off money back, if that is the kind of “science” they follow.

          1. It’s a job call for the above job. Requiring up to date vaccination with recommended boosters. Sorry realized this should go in todays tips, but I have been up since 430. Don’t think I’ll make it.

  5. I am liking how the individual reporter is being held accountable. Journalists need to responsible for their drivel.

    1. Government bailouts notwithstanding, Global/Corus is a private entity. their employees don’t enjoy qualified immunity.

    2. Rachel Gilmore is one nasty, biased, uninformed, misinformation queen.
Bring it James!! She really thinks she can get away with it.
This month’s charity chunk from my fixed income retirement fund goes to James! Again!!

  6. If it turns out a lawsuit against Rachel Gilmore is what pushes teetering Global into the financial abyss, I will take it as proof positive that there is a God in Heaven.

  7. Can’t wait to see these media creeps slammed and hit with huge costs I hope. Good for James. I’ve donated

  8. At what point does this become criminal?
Not that we have an actual justice system in Canada any longer.
Trudeau’s Liberals pay their ‘credentialed’ media to smear critics of their government policies.
There’s a lot of quid pro quo going around.
