Wondering why they use red hydraulic oil that eats rubber?
My experimentation days of using a gas powered portable bandsaw saw mill.
Our zoom boom log lifter used hydraulic fluids that needed to change periodically which left a problem of disposal of old fluids.
Using the portable saw, we used a diesel fuel and chainsaw oil mixture for the blade lubricant.
Thought I’d use up that old hydraulic fluid doing that same mixture…
IT ATE THE RUBBER BELTS and RUBBER SAW WHEEL slowly within a couple weeks.
So, why are we using such a corrosive lubricant in our hydraulics?

I was randomly whistling the theme for Mission: Impossible today as I unjammed my in-sink garbage disposal. It was a small assembly screw, I have no idea how it got in there, but I suspect my wife had something to do with it. And now this thread. My life is complete for another day.
