Energy security comes first.

Higher energy prices can lead to civil unrest — the avoidance of which is one reason why countries keep buying fossil fuels from Russia. As Puri intimated, when petrol stations run dry or if costs get too high, people will respond.

According to Verisk Maplecroft, a consultancy that tracks geopolitical risks, last quarter civil unrest increased in 101 of the 198 countries that it tracks around the world in part due to higher-priced energy. They foresee the recent unrest as just the beginning, “As the conditions for civil unrest build in a growing number of countries, the severity and frequency of protests and labour activism is set to accelerate further over the coming months.”

    But he was definitely wrong calling the invasion a “genius move”. The counterattack continues, now some Russians are calling for executions.

    How many ships full of Ukrainian grain have actually sailed from Odessa?
    How is the drought in Europe and the drought in China affecting their harvests?

    America and Canada are relatively rich countries. Food shortages mean we pay more for our food.
    In Africa and Asia? Food Shortages mean people starve. Add in unrest and tribal conflicts, where food WILL BE used as a weapon. Ask the Somalis, Sudanese, and Eritreans.

    1. There’s been a lot of food shipped out of Ukraine recently, Putin, in a recent speech said 98% of it got diverted to the EU, he got fact-checked, only 70% actually went to the EU.

  4. Can’t help but think the powers that be overestimated the effectiveness of thirty years of brainwashing. They seem to think the people of the world have been softened up to the point where they can impose any hardship they please and everyone will obediently comply. The problem for them is that they’ve reached the limit of what we will take and it’s far short of where they thought that point would be.

        You’d think, but that often doesn’t work. People just do not want to see beyond what they believe. I’ve even met westerners – Saskatchewanistanians – who cannot be moved from their belief that “it’s big greedy oil companies” and “greedy supermarket chains”. Some people cannot be swayed.

        What really blew my mind recently was a discussion with an actual farmer of Ukrainian descent who refuses to believe that Trudeau is absolute evil. He keeps insisting that Trudeau is just stupid and doesn’t know what he’s doing. No matter what, I cannot dissuade him from his belief that all of Trudeau’s actions are just due to stupidity. He will not consider any other option.

        I’ve seen it written in many pieces that the Devil’s greatest trick is convincing people that he doesn’t exist. Trudeau’s greatest trick might be that he’s convinced people that he’s just stupid.

    2. Pendejo, you’re pretty much bang on target. The industrial world has been subject to three decades of non-stop, one-sided propaganda regarding the supposed effects of global warming. It’s remarkable how relatively little effect it’s had, other than to the empty-headed twits of the legacy media. In Germany, the core of EU indoctrination of AGW, they are so convinced of the evils of nuclear power that they would rather burn coal than keep their nuclear plants operating. So, yes, it’s a fraud, and they all know it.

      So yes, they overestimated the effect. It’s not working after 30 years, and life in the form of impending starvation and economic collapse has caught up with the WEF scumbags. You are right about the limits of obedient compliance. It’s not happening.

  5. Affordable food, energy, water and shelter is necessary to prevent civil unrest.

    Individual rights (speech, defense, mobility, privacy, etc), protection of property rights, reasonable taxation, fair elections, functional government, plus fair and unbiased law enforcement/courts is necessary for a free and prosperous society.

    The failure of governments to provide the above conditions is why western nations are having civil unrest and economic decline.

    1. Isn’t it downhill to Ontario? They likely generate electricity on the oil flow allowing subsidization of gas prices in Ontario.
      13% HST in Ontario vs 5% GST in Alberta. Another saving!

    2. Steak, Gouged? You’re getting a discount. in my neck of the woods, Sunshine Coast BC, the nearest local gas station a block away from me, has the cheapest gas at $1.99.9 meaning $139.9 would be viewed as a bargain.

      I guess I should consider moving to Innisfil eh.

    Klaus Schwab (WEF) has previously stated that to win control , changes must be made slowly and incrementally , otherwise events can get out of control , with unknown and unplanned results. That currently appears to be where events are heading.

Bert, As per Brian above, The UN is attached at the hip to the WEF, as is the WHO, BlackRock, most western governments, NATO, Biden, Turdo,….It’s an awfully long list of members, but we ain’t on it, we’re just the recipients of it, and it will not be pretty, which is why we need to push back now, waiting until they have achieved their evil goals will be to late….for us useless eaters.

    Soon enough they’ll start up some false flags and warm up the cold civil war and put the blame on the “Nazis”.
