Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

This man opened my eyes – If you find yourself on the fence with respect to EV and think all we need is just a little more time to iron out the technical difficulties, let this guy tell you otherwise.
60 seconds of reality.

There’s no such thing of course as a zero emissions vehicle…what you do with an EV is you don’t eliminate emissions you export them somewhere else.
burton
If you need some one to explain THAT to you, you are slow on the uptake. I argued that stuff back in the 90T’s. I think developing battery cars is great, just not on my tax $$$$, and don’t kid yerself about “carbon”, as that is a lie also, it’s carbon dioxide.
EVs are fun to drive and perfect for around town. If you can charge at home it takes about 30s to plug in the car and 30s to unplug it. Vs time at the gas station you don’t get paid for.
If you have to charge outside your home worst driving experience possible.
If you want to count carbon ride a bicycle.
Yes, many, many retirees in warm weather retirement communities quite enjoy driving their golf carts to and from the local market or clubhouse. The little carts are easy to plug in and out of the socket (but don’t forget to, or you’ll be home bound). Many retirees live limited lives, with limited range. I suppose some people enjoy living like shut-ins.
And to all those trophy wives driving their Teslas to our local Boutique grocery stores? How $$filthy rich$$ does one have to be to buy a $125,000.00 car for grocery shopping? You aren’t signaling your virtue … you’re signaling something else entirely …
Fun to drive and very economical. We have an PHEV so we can head off for a 500k run without fear. Av fuel [gas] consumption on a long run through the BC mountains – 5.7 l/100 km. Av plug in cost at home on trickle charge is $ 5 – 7 month.
Forget the environmental BS. This is a good vehicle that we enjoy driving.
Yeah….for now.
It costs $100 per full Tesla charge here in PG&E country … a fact they don’t mention anywhere at any time. And hint: a “trickle” charge is still spinning the meter at the same $$rate$$ … slower and longer = faster and shorter
It’s not all about economics for me PHEV’s can do things ICE cars can’t as many systems are electric. On a hot summer day with the car parked in the sun I can turn remotely the Air Conditioner on and step into a cool car for my drive home. No more burning body parts on hot black leather seats and steering wheels. I can always shovel 10 pounds of coal back into the trunk by plugging it in or use the ICE engine to charge the battery back up.
Call me when you can make one without massive inputs of coal, oil, gas and extensive mining.
The mandates to eliminate ICE vehicles is the entire game, period. Gang green and the WEF have no appetite for the doubling of the grid just for EVs and doubling again for net zero with nuclear power (the only system capable of self replication). The energy involved in such a transition would guarantee the extensive use of all fossil fuels available for decades. The central planners have always wanted to eliminate the era of the personal automobile and this is their chance. Only high ranking party members and select few with high social credit scores will be allowed to own EVs. The auto industry being the rent seeking, useful idiots they are will be surprised with the end game finale. The only question is does this path originate from delusion and ignorance or by despotic direction.
EV biggest fans are the car companies.. Little doubt, seeing as most repairs will be at the dealership.. Can you spell MONOPOLY..
Oh yaa, and they are saving the world or something like that..
John
There will be plenty of industrial electricians fully capable of fixing those suckers , monopoly ain’t in the works.
Yeah, it is. But it is one that will be controlled by totalitarians in government….a la California.
Ah yes.
General Motorway
representative Mrs Winter. “Great name.” For what’s coming?
Don’t use electricity, Because there isn’t any;
But you will buy 4 million California Electric cars and plug them into Unicorn buttocks.
Definition of insanity,
Anyone?
… with all the warranties and insurance VOIDED if not an “authorized” repairman
The big reason for that is the average life of the battery pack. You aren’t going to replace the battery when it kicks the bucket in 6-8 years, you’ll get a new car. And hell, Ford won’t even sell you one, you have to lease it with no buy option at the end of term- it’s a long term rental. And, with governments the world over chipping in subsidies to buy these things, the car co’s are taking full advantage of that and cranking the profit margin up that much more, effectively making more money for selling fewer vehicles, but at least you feel good about our 5k kickback, right?
All that and the execs come from the same woke places the rest of them do. They aren’t on our side.
The car companies like it because they don’t have to worry about volatile gasoline prices, under the assumption that electricity is cheap and the prices don’t vary much… until you get to wide application of electric vehicles combined with unreliable power.
Fill your garage with EVs if you want. Drive ’em from pole to pole if you can. But just don’t buy them, build them, or charge them up on my ******g dollar.
/\ This right here. No subsidies on the EV’s or green power schemes, no sale. Tells me all I need to know about the whole scam.
All I know is that with the state of our current technology, we have nowhere near the capacity to build the number of batteries (by a factor of like 1000) to enable us to go with EV’s, let alone for energy grid backup. If we are plunging headfirst into the unknown and counting on some as-yet-unknown technology to save us, why not just count on some as-yet-unknown technology to solve global warming? Nobody’s going to touch that one. I mean, as long as you’re fantasizing about unicorns, why not fantasize about flying unicorns that crap gold nuggets?
Bottom line SHOULD be how UN green these vehicles are when you concider this…
https://youtube.com/shorts/XV9ijKAubfU?feature=share
And then concider what happens to depleted batteries that for now cant be recycled.
