Scientists claimed the algae bloom in the San Francisco Bay, which killed over 10k fish, was due to climate change. But it’s now clear that it is due to the failure of local governments to upgrade the region’s antiquated sewage treatment plants.
It’s true that the Bay Area is experiencing high temperatures, but algae blooms are the direct result of the failure of governments to upgrade plants so they remove the nutrients that the algae need in order to grow and bloom in the water.
The rush to blame the climate for environmental change is a prime example of what psychologists call ideologically-motivated cognition.

ideologically-motivated cognition= CYA
ideologically-motivated cognition= Lazy incompetent politicians making up any convenient lie because they know that the media has their back and if they repeat it often enough the sheep will regard it as truth.
There is a famous aerial image of Lake Erie showing a series of algae blooms. They were due to fertilizer run-off and raw sewage among other things. Pollution dating back to the 50s. The image is 2011.

Climate change ate my homework.
“Climate Change” has become the mantra invoked by all unwanted affects in the world, the equivalent of “God wills it”.
Why would Baby Boomers want to own up to being the worst Parenting Generation in history?
Having to live with the results(see current and future events) of producing 3 or 4 generations who, to put it mildly, aren’t quite ready for real life should be payback enough.
One World Globalism/Communism/Fascism/Totalitarianism now beckons, nay awaits.
The unready emptyheaded open their arms.
Canadians who know better have apparently embraced the terrapin twostep.
Mass formation?
Mass insanity/stupidity.
“People blame climate change for things we don’t like,…”
Ain’t that the truth. In other words, having it your way every time all the time.
Doesn’t Montreal dump raw sewage into the St Lawrence, as well as Victoria, BC?
And Halifax maybe. Years come and go but some traditions must be maintained.
And … what about the sewage that never makes it into the treatment plants at all? What do you think happens to all that human feces on the streets of San Francisco and Oakland? Yes, it is hosed into the storm drains which dump directly into the Bay or Lake Merritt. No treatment whatsoever.
I would proffer a comment from the Wellington Advertiser, the local rag in the Guelph area, totally leftist. Here is a reprimand from a climate believer and I quote:
“Climate change deniers are a lot like teenagers: they look, but don’t see, they hear, but they don’t listen. Right now, France is on fire. Wildfires rage in Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece” etc.
I would let you enjoy the rest, but no where is there any proof offered of human causality of climate change. That has become the “GIVEN” of the problem, the assumed value. Assumptions, as I recall, are the mothers of all catastrophes (there is a different word used, but I am trying to be polite). When you assume, you make… well you know the rest. I am not saying that climate doesn’t change because it does, but I disagree with the viewpoints of the cause. And where there is doubt, there should be choice – even God himself allows us that.
No…. It’s just the latest excuse by incompetent politicians using virtue signaling to cover up their stupidity OR … worse, public corruption. Whenever a politician makes seemingly irrational policy choices that clearly incurs negative consequences to the citizenry, there is a high probability of self serving financial incentive, i.e. a payoff in some form.
L – Michael Shellenberger: The sanest man in California. If they’d elect him governor.
They’d have a fighting chance of not becoming America’s first failed state. Oops, too late.
But they could re-emerge from the ashes like a Phoenix, under his guidance.
