Dear Ursula

Eurometaux- Europe’s non-ferrous metals producers call for emergency EU action

50% of the EU’s aluminium and zinc capacity has already been forced offline due to the power crisis, as well as significant curtailments in silicon and ferroalloys production and further impacts felt across copper and nickel sectors. In the last month, several companies have had to announce indefinite closures and many more are on the brink ahead of a life-or-death winter for many operations. Producers face electricity and gas costs over ten times higher than last year, far exceeding the sales price for their products. We know from experience that once a plant is closed it very often becomes a permanent situation, as re-opening implies significant uncertainty and cost.

  1. All part of the plan I guess. Massive deindustrialization, high unemployment, food riots as the currency collapses, mass starvation. Then the jackboots come in and mass population decline followed by a beautiful bucolic scenery where the wef controls all.

Thank goodness we avoided fuel shortages this summer. No storms in the gulf and no riots etc in the Middle East. Also the thanks to the simple idea the when the price went up demand went down.

  2. Good thing we don’t need aluminum or zinc for anything important….

Whats interesting is that the Futures prices are up a bit for 2022 and 2023 delivery, but not as much as one might expect given the shutdown of plants… September 22 is @ $2248 versus may 23 @ $2372

  3. This is going to affect every business in the EU. Gyms, restaurants, theatres, etc. don’t have the margins to simply absorb a ten fold increase in energy costs. Individuals are also paying 10x as much for their home utilities so they can’t afford to pay higher costs for non-essential goods and services. Once businesses start closing, then it’s a vicious cycle all the way to the bottom. Then you have the spin-off effect from supply chain problems. Good times ahead!

  4. Europe’s bans on fracking are still in place?
    Because Greta?
Just burn all the old forests instead and put far more pollution into the air while killing more people with wood smoke.

    1. Lets say that brussels went and removed the GretaBan tomorrow, the companies would still have to go through a convoluted permitting process that might take a year or more, in order to get permission from the government to be sued by various enviromentalcases who would obstruct any work that might take place, assuming you could find the people with the skills and experience to do the work.

  5. Is it time to start buying shares of fracking companies that can operate in Europe?
Or have we not reached Peak Green Stupidity yet?

‘Gee, I wonder why Russians funded so many of those anti-fracking protest groups?’

    1. Stan, Stan, Stan … Europe (and PM SocksinPussy) are nowhere NEAR Peak Green Stupidity. Not close. We have just moved into the “No Energy for YOU” phase of the “Green Transition” … we are a long way off from admitting the stupidity of it all.

When Parliament is sacked … and the politicians dragged from their warm homes into the street for some mob Justice will we have turned the corner …

    2. In the US the land owner owns the below ground mineral rights. So a broke, squirrel shooting hillbilly that finds bubbling crude is incentivized to sell .

In Europe as I understand, land owners do not own the rights to minerals beneath the land, so they by and large oppose mineral/gas/oil extraction.

      But free healthcare.

  6. Who knew energy was needed? The morons get what they (didn’t) vote for and Canada is going the same green hell-hole way.

  7. Who could have foreseen that a ten fold increase in energy costs would lead to total economic collapse?

This has been foreseen since the whole green energy scam started. This was the plan all along. They must figure they can kill off all the unwashed masses and build a new civilization on the ruins. it’s going to get messy.

    1. Obama and his minions have all claimed Energy has been … “too cheap” … in America … and we need to all pay *ahem* our “fair share” for planet-killing fossil fuels. That’s the mindset of these Marxists. They don’t give a crap about economic collapse … because they make their living off of the peoples taxes.

  8. “We must sacrifice MORE to destroy the evil Trump Putin and his hordes of orcs. Just think of the poor defenseless children of Ukraine partying at nightclubs on the dime of the US taxpayers starving and out in the cold as you swelter from climate change. Long live corrupt Ukraine and it’s failed third rate clown of a leader, Heil Globohomo! Slava Ukraini!”

    1. Pretty sure “Atlas Shrugged” was meant to be a warning – but it’s looking more and more like prophecy being fulfilled right before our eyes.

And here in Lower Turdostan the only thing faster than the velocity of light is the speed of stupid…
