August 31, 2022: Reader Tips

On this last day of August, we present you with the 1936 film, Things to Come, based on the H.G. Wells novel of the same name.

Your best tips of recent days are much appreciated!

Bonus: We’ve all experienced the curfew/lockdown of 2020.  One wonders if it was merely a test run for something like this?!

  2. After more thought I have finally found something I agree with Justin Trudeau on. There’s no business case for exporting natural gas to Germany.

This is a country that laughed at the suggestion they were dependent on Russian gas when Trump gave his speech to the UN. It’s clear they know what their doing so let them enjoy their chuckles in the cold.

It’s ironic that Justin can declare victory and we can declare victory as well. Our theory is that when faced with the reality of the situation people will send greentards packing. On Justin’s side his great reset will be closer to reality. Who’s worldview will win?

    1. The sooner a million Germans freeze to death, the sooner the Western World will come to its senses. If that is even still possible. I have no ill will for the Deutsch, hell, half of my ancestors were German; but they’ve put themselves at the center of the Greentard bullseye; at the least we should be able to learn from their energy insanity.

      1. I do worry that people are too far gone to know what’s going on. Look at covid for example. The whole thing was bs and there’s still idiots wearing masks. Kate’s right we need a famine. Unfortunate but true.

  3. Someone once told me that popular movies and TV shows were actually not works of fiction, but hints from Hollywood and “Mr. Global” to warn us of what’s to come.

The prime example I can think of is Star Trek’s Next Generation antagonist, the Borg. One collective mind, no free will, implanted with a hybrid of cybernetic and organic components… You get the idea.

“Prescient” doesn’t even begin to describe that famous TV arch.

    1. Yes, media definitely works constantly to move the Overton Window.

You will notice that media is filled with gay people, and the gay agenda is constantly moving forward. Coincidence? I laughed.

Yet to be determined: How many pedophiles work in media.

    2. It’s like the mad scientist who just has to reveal all his evil plans to the protagonist. Hollywood is the mad scientist revealing what they and the rest of the Left has in store for us. Instead of stopping them, everyone just sat there mesmerised.

    1. I am. I have the theme song in my library. You wonder how that sequence made it past the network censors at the time, but then think that this was on the heals of the 60’s, and well…
You might say that the 60’s and 70’s was the beginning of the end of western civilization.

    2. I do recall that. Lots of weird predictions that never materialised. Such as replacing food with daily syrup doses.

      1. MikeT – I was a kid but it seemed like Star Trek to me. I vaguely remember the naked blonde with the well formed glutes. Daily syrup doses? It was probably sponsored by Quebec make syrup producers. I love syrup with my pancakes but don’t eat them every day.

    1. She’s been saying that about Trump since halfway through his term. She was one of the earliest to predict Trump would win in 2016, doing so to pretty open mockery on a major news channel talk show – funnily they didn’t show the panel’s reactions when Trump won. But the romance soured after Trump clearly put a lot more effort into talking about the wall than actually building it, and it’s gotten steadily worse since. I challenge two of your (and her) statements (realizing as I do that you’re clearly only trolling 😉

      1) Trump is “Over” – he’s the favourite for 2024 and has been since the 2020 election, oddsmakers having him leading Biden by 4:1 even then; and

      2) “Coulter used to be a far right insane fascist”; I defy you to find anything wrong or even objectionable in any of her columns ( https://anncoulter.com/ ) she’s written over the past two years; she’s a doyenne of commonsense, especially when compared to any of our leftist leaders – and unlike them, she backs-up her opinions with facts instead of rabid, virtue-signalling “feelz”. BTW, do you actually know what “fascist” means?

Not a Trump fan myself, but I note with pleasure and occasional delight that he was a far more effective and successful President than the pathetic excuses who came before-and-after. My current hope for 2024 is DeSantis; but Trump had 2020 stolen from him, and he deserves to get his own back.

    1. Free,
      What is it Kate says?

      Meteor take us now.

      Yeah, any minute now.

Good to hear from you, man. I enjoy your comments.

      1. Is it fire and brimstone for the unbelievers? Are the muzzies and the jews in on this or do they roast as well?

        Asking for a friend

      2. Yeah, mom says we’re in end times. Who knows?
I do know that nothing makes any sense any longer.

        Be safe.

      3. The hot and firey comes courtesy of the nukes, your brimstone will be from quite a few volcanos popping off , along with Kate’s proverbial asteroid coming in hot.
Everyone’s gonna roast, Jews too , the Muzzies especially will get the glass parking lot treatment.
There won’t be a hidey hole anywhere on this Rock to escape .
So bad that the animals will cry out as will the critters in the seas.
It will be a literal hell on Earth , to be cut short by the Creator.

There’s lots more in the Good Book but I don’t want to spoil the rest for you Abtrapper.

    1. Followed by ZH article on China’s imports of Russian gas and reselling gas to Europe at a mark-up.

      1. – And why would China do this?

And why would India buy cheap Russian oil and sell it on for a mark-up?

        Simples – “Because. They. Can.”

        1. There are a few extra bits to it that the Pootin 5D chess club likes to ignore.

Russia is selling its oil and gas to Chicoms and Indians at dumping prices. These are rumored to be 30% lower than the contracts they had with EU. So while Chicoms and Indians can make money reselling it, russia can’t.

The capacity constraints are solid. Unless russians intend to export oil in buckets and gas in boxes there is only that much they can push through Power of Siberia and other pipes and it will take years to get new infrastructure in place.

So Pootin ends up selling much less for a much lower price, 5D chess indeed.

Better yet, russians are already burning out a lot of their gas that they cannot stop pumping. They are producing much more then they can sell and they cannot stop producing because once you drill through permafrost you have to keep using it or it will deteriorate rapidly and once demand returns you will have to start from scratch.

    2. “I would hazard a guess that the United States base will soon be booted out of the country.”

Happy to take that bet. Given the strained Japanese Chicom relations the odds of Japan telling US they no longer want their help are next to zero.

“Already some ports are refusing to refill the American War Ships in some regions.”

As they have been in 1970s and ever since. There is always a pressure from peaceniks and greens, some genuine, some traditionally Kremlin funded, some, I am willing to bet, Peking funded, to do that. Nothing new here.

      1. Fauci has by far the larger pile upon which to stand.

He’s no Stalin, or Mao, but he’s of the same lineage.

    1. DON’T GET EVEN GET ILL
That’s hilarious. First they were ignorant enough to purchase vehicles that are all prototypes, manufactured by an extremely inexperienced automobile “manufacturer,” and now they’re going to do themselves physical injury.

Perhaps therapy should become an available option, with the purchase of a new Tesla.

  4. Message to Europe and UK – just assume the Russians won’t cooperate with your upcoming energy crisis.

    1. Leverage isn’t leverage if you don’t use it.

Putin might be crazy, but he’s not stupid.

  5. Not letting a crisis go to waste…

After being yelled at Chrystia Freeland held a ‘rally style’ event in Calgary where she testified about how wonderful Alberta and Albertan’s are. Ya gotta hand it to the libranos. They rounded up 20 syncophants and held a rally which was dutifully reported by the bought and paid for media.

    1. Has she called anyone “deplorable” yet? Has she had that moment? Because that’s the crew she hangs with when she’s in Washington; the ones that are very comfortable referring to working class folks as deplorable.

  6. Well now, I feel better.

One comment made in the video, which is that flooding is increasing, is simply not true. But that’s typical of the genre.

  7. And from Instapundit, for your Wednesday’s amusement, another horrible expose about those horribly horrible, terrifyingly terrifying (& terrible ‘n stuff) “Assault STYLE Weapons” that somebody (I refuse to speak his name) saved all us terrified Canadians from:

“WHEN DEMOCRATIC POLITICIANS TALK ABOUT GUNS, THEY ALL HAVE DEMENTIA:
“Do you realize the bullet out of an AR-15 travels 5 times as rapidly as a bullet shot out of any other gun.”
    pic.twitter.com/cTS1B84wtS
    — Rob Doar (@robdoar) August 30, 2022
Related: 5.56mm Muzzle Velocity > 16,000 FPS. You’d really expect more of an earth-shattering kaboom.
    Related: Who Fact-Checks a Democrat?
Posted at 10:58 pm by Glenn Reynolds”

For any readers who don’t know anything about guns, you “MIGHT” manage to make a bullet travel 15,000 feet per second (FPS) out of an AR-15 – but the AR-15 would blow-up and kill you, and the bullet (if it actually made it out the muzzle) would instantly dissolve into a cloud of dust. Even the aptly-named Eargesplitten Loudenboomer – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.22_Eargesplitten_Loudenboomer – didn’t manage to break 5,000 FPS.

Basically – I mean, wtf? – these guys are smokin’ DOPE! But hey, Confucius say “Politicians lie”…

    1. “Do you realize the bullet out of an AR-15 travels 5 times as rapidly as a bullet shot out of any other gun.”

This is indeed a gem. Is the idiot confusing rate of fire with muzzle velocity, maybe?
Is this a mangled general point about muzzle velocity of a riffle round vs pistol round?
Does the moron literarily believes that among the intermediate cartridge riffles, AR is some kind of death ray?

  8. People that really should not be dying, as per experts.
‘Second death confirmation rocks 2022 Comrades: ‘Two deaths are two too many’

    https://www.news24.com/sport/othersport/athletics/second-death-confirmation-rocks-2022-comrades-two-deaths-is-two-too-many-20220829

47-year-old Phakamile Ntshiza, who ran for the Pretoria-based Adventist Athletic Club, died suddenly while on the course to Durban.
    ….
James added that a total of 74 runners had been transported to hospital – 41 to St Augustine’s and 33 to Netcare Umhlanga – after Comrades shut its medical facilities at 20:00 on Sunday night.

  9. L – “superlative adjective, Of the highest order, quality, or degree; surpassing or superior to all others. ” When the highest degree of a negative quality applies to our Prime Minister…

  10. Another good one from GOC-

After numerous intelligence reports of Putin’s demise that implied that Putin might actually be dead, Putin himself decided to send Biden a letter in his own handwriting to let him know he was still in the game.
Biden opened the letter which appeared to contain a single line of a coded message, “370HSSV-0773H”.
Biden was baffled, so he emailed it to John Kerry and to his aides. Neither had no clue what it said. So, they sent it to the FBI. No one could solve it at the FBI, so it went to the CIA, then to NSA. Still no clue as to the meaning.
The FBI finally asked Marine Corps Intelligence for help.
Within a few seconds the Marine Corps called back with this message. “Tell Biden he’s holding the message upside down.”

  11. California: Ban gasoline cars!
Also California: Don’t charge your electric car either!
    —————————————————
Californians may need to take measures to conserve energy, including by avoiding charging electric vehicles, to prevent strain to the state’s power grid over the Labor Day weekend…

  12. The end of the Britain that I grew up in:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caI_cqOOn6s

For the record, I have actually had a pint in The Olde Fighting Cocks in St Albans. BTW, it’s not “Ye olde”, that so-called Y is a corruption of the middle-english letter thorn. ‘Ye’ is/was and earlier version of ‘you’.

    1. Anyone caught doing that should be fired. These people are paid from the public purse. Sickos.

    1. Not a problem.
Look the women straight in the chest, the men straight in the crotch,
and the Gropen Fuhrer straight in his ear. You can see right thru.

    2. Poliviere should get a lot of mileage out of that. Libs think they are royalty. The suggestion shows a complete lack of respect for Canadians.

    1. That at least is a more pressing cause than the needs expressed by the gay “communities” now showered with government largess for no clear reason– just another Liberal slush fund for their friends.

    1. What sort of investigation? I guess we are not allowed to criticize our politicians now. How about investigating the thugs who attacked the Freedom Convoy. One of them attacked a woman in a wheel chair. People in this country are very angry, and the rude fellow expressed what many are thinking. Freeland and Trudeau are both traitors.

  13. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/markets/economist-predicts-a-whopper-of-recession-in-2023-and-that-s-not-necessarily-due-to-higher-interest-rates/ar-AA11hKeI?ocid=hplocalnews&cvid=f89b179f5afd438ca3df2012ea49bbfd

“The problem we have is that the Chairman does not understand, even at this point, what the causes of inflation are and were,” Hanke said. “He’s still going on about supply-side glitches. He has failed to tell us that inflation is always caused by excess growth in the money supply, turning the printing presses on.”

    1. Good. Good. Media pundits are scoffing at this, but the country is headed in a dangerous direction and WEF has more influence than it should.
