      On another note, I haven’t watched the news on ANY television station in more than a decade. The only reason I still have cable is to watch sports and even that is interest is beginning to wane.

      1. We subscribe to TSN Direct. $C for 6 months give or take. I keep it for the CFL season and then stop it. It keeps me happy for the CFL season and most of the NFL season.

        Kate has her horse racing TV and the free Fox broadcasts on Youtube. We’re good for sports.

  4. I stopped watching news on television in 1991 or thereabouts. It’s no wonder I’ve never heard of her.

      That’s around my exit time as well.
      My epiphany was watching federal election coverage where it had already been decided by CTV that Cretin’s Libranos had won before the polls closed here in BC. It was Lloyd Robertson’s cheshire cat grin that did it: no effort at all to hide the bias. I have not watched a single SECOND of legacy TV news (sic) since.

      I had never clapped eyes on this maudlin woman before now. My dear fake news woman: You’re too old and white — they want a 22 year old BIPOC hottie now.

      2. Mentcide. I grew up in southeastern BC, and watched my parents coming home from casting their votes only to turn on the radio and hear the election even before their votes were counted. But then, in my small community (veterans’ housing) the comment I heard most often was “Canada ends at the Rockies, and BC ends at Hope”. They – the men who had served in WW II – were not altogether correct: Canada actually ended at the Ontario – Manitoba border (though NW Ontario never did get its due). And – during the Bennet regime – BC expanded to the Okanagan. But our part of BC was valued only for the taxes it could pay to fund fancy schemes elsewhere; and it is to this day.

A day ago I was in a hotel and was flipping through the radio portion of their programming guide (I was bored) and was hearing a stand up comic when I turned on the 1040 Vancouver Sports Talk channel. According to the date on that article this change happened over a year ago and no one at the cable company had the idea to update their channel list?

      A full workload for her was four days a week. She disappeared every summer.

  15. Like other SDAers, I never watch CTV news, and never watched Lisa Laflamme. But I suggest that CTV news is signaling a tilt to the left, replacing her with Omar Sachadrna. First, he is a vizmin, and second, as parliamentary news chief for CTV, he is known as a Rosie-Barton-like toadie for Justin Trudeau.

    A story about Omar making the rounds. During a recent federal election, Mr. Sachedina went through each federal party’s election platform, counting the number of times the “racial diversity” phrase was used. Finding that the Conservative party used the phrase the least, he lambasted the Conservatives.

    It’s the left eating its own with Laflamme getting the heave ho. But watch for the ratings for CTV national news to plummet. All to the good if those people leaving CTV would turn to the internet for news

Yeah, a number of years ago I saw one of her reports where she was swooning over the training school for Cirque de Soleil, gushing about how it was world-class and government funded, never making the connection about how inappropriate it was for a government-funded school being used almost exclusively as a talent feeder for the enrichment of the founder of Cirque de Soleil, who by the time of Lisa’s story was already a multi-hundred-millionaire (he’s a billionaire today). A good journalist would’ve chased that contradiction and latched onto it like a terrier grabbing a pant-leg. Lisa went down the SQUEEE! path instead.

    Dear Lisa: my tax dollars don’t exist for a cultural icon’s enrichment, you dumb twat. Enjoy your enforced retirement.

      I was never a fan, but I couldn’t stand looking at her after she turned grey. Mind you… I very rarely watch the national news cast, so for me, seeing her grey out suddenly between visits like that, was a bit of a shock.
