Your Moral And Intellectual Superiors

Mediate;

Journalist Bari Weiss spilled the details of an internal battle at The New York Times over an op-ed piece submitted by Senator Tim Scott during his appearance on her podcast this week. […]

“Well, here’s what happened. I was at the New York Times and you or your staff sent in an op-ed about the bill and why it fell apart,” Weiss recalled. “And this is the part I’m not sure if you know. There was a discussion about the piece and whether or not we should run it. And one colleague, a more senior colleague said to a more junior colleague who was pushing for the piece, ‘Do you think the Republicans really care about minority rights?’”

“Wow,” Scott said.

“And the more junior colleagues said, ‘I think Tim Scott cares about minority rights.’ And then, and here’s the pretty shocking part. The more senior colleague said, ‘Let’s check with Senator Schumer before we run it,’”

She detailed how the younger colleague refused to reach out to Schumer over ethics concerns.

“Are you surprised to hear that? Or does that story feel kind of representative of the way the media has treated you and maybe some of your colleagues?” Weiss asked.

“I am disappointed to hear that. I am not surprised to hear that. You have to remember that The Washington Post fact checked my life, Scott replied.

Scott’s op-ed was never published.

  1. The Left hates visible minority conservative/libertarians. The white ones especially because it allows them to forget about their self-loathing.
(But at least when Joe said his remarkably stupid comment about black voters it was simply because he IS remarkably stupid.)
The fact that somebody’s skin colour should dictate their political ideology is just racism at its most tribal level.

  2. I’m not a fan of Tim Scott. He falls squarely into the Nikki Haley category of politicians. IOW…opportunistic, self-important and gutless. He is an overt establishment Republican. He, also, pushes identity politics. I must get four or five “Black Republican” franking mail pieces from him each week.

The very fact that Scott would give the New York Times the time of day and actually push an Op-ed to them is patently ridiculous in the first place.

The only surprise in this blurb is that I would have thought the older guy and younger guy would be reversed.

    1. Tim Scott just endorsed Lisa Murkowski for reelection. That tells you everything you need to know about him. He’s a pure insider, establishment snake. RINO through and through.

  3. This story confirms 3 long standing suspicions I’ve had:

    1. So called “liberals” are amongst the most racist people in our society.

    2. The legacy media and the Democrats are the same people. They might officially have different titles but are absolutely joined at the hip.

    3. Most modern “journalists” have NO ethics, no honour, and no convictions to do their jobs properly.

  4. You might at least stand for something when leftists are going to treat you like that regardless.

  5. “Let’s check with Senator Schumer before we run it,’”
Absolutely shocking. The New York Times cannot be trusted.
