There, I fixed it.

A 71-year-old widower was admitted to a Southwestern Ontario hospital after a fall. His family says during his admission he contracted an infectious diarrheal illness. He was humiliated by staff for the smell of his room, his family said. He developed a new shortness of breath that was not comprehensively assessed. In this context, a hospital team member suggested he would qualify for MAiD. The team said he had end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and it was terminal. The patient was surprised by the diagnosis but trusted the team.

Within 48 hours of his first assessment, he received a medically assisted death. Post-mortem testing showed he did not have end-stage COPD. His family doctor, when notified of his death, also stated he did not have end-stage COPD, but the team had failed to contact her when they were assessing his history.

In the immortal words of a former Saskatchewan NDP cabinet minister, ours is the duty to “live healthfully and die quickly”.

    1. More likely, the hospital will be receiving a grant. I can no longer trust hospitals. I’ve long suspected that our hospitals, under socialized “medicine”, and especially now during times of Covid, and in an environment where life is no longer sacred, and Euthanasia is not only legal, but seen as a “treatment,” our hospitals have become killing zones.

      Best not to get sick. Getting sick in this country is a death sentence. It’s easier to kill the patient than to cure him, just like it’s easier for teachers to indoctrinate children rather than teach them.

      My prescription is to get the hell out of this country while you still can (if you can) IF YOU WANT TO LIVE!

    My 17 year old son developed an infectious diarrheal illness after being hospitalized with an infection. He too developed a shortness of breath from it.

    They’d have put him down like a sick dog.

  6. We saw a youtube clip here at SDA where a US teacher told a congressman that by misgendering a trans person he was committing murder every time a trans person committed suicide. I think this application of MAID is a better example of an act leading to homicide.

    I believe it was a specific reference to mental illness.
    Many attempted suicides are cries for help.

    Whenever you need help, the government is the last place you should look.

    As stated by others here just recently, “With socialized medicine, you aren’t a customer, but a cost, not a patient, but a problem.”

  20. I read the article. Smells fishy to me. Lots of vague stories, no names, dates or specifics to the “maid” incidents.

    Preface: I despise socialized medicine. It has failed family members time and again (in rural Ontari-owe)

    I also don’t believe it because it claims he was killed within 48 hours of admission. I can tell you from recent personal experience you can’t even get a damn aspirin dispensed in the average Ontari-owe hospital inside of 48 hours.

    I share concerns about our sh*tty medical system. I share concerns about a-hole doctors and bureaucrats with newfound power of life and death over us.

    I just don’t need made up anecdotes to support it. And made up anecdotes also undermine the very important point being made that we need to fight the cult of death.

      They have to be. Canada’s medical information privacy laws mandate nothing that can be used to identify a specific person without their consent.

      Much like the pregnant 10-year-old, this does make it a lot easier to make sh*t up that can’t be checked; but based on my experiences with Joseph Brant Hospital I 100% believe that every one of these stories is plausible, whether they happened or not. In fact the 71-year-old widower with diarrhea had me thinking “bet that was Joe Brant” before I even clicked through.

  21. I believe that hospitals should be prohibited from harvesting organs from persons who are terminated. That would remove one of the incentives for recommending death to patients.

    I also earnestly believe that persons who terminate patients should not be permitted to continue to call themselves physicians. It is not compatible with the Hippocratic oath.

  24. It is bloody amazing how corrupt every aspect of our society has become. While I do not fear death I sure as hell am not going to allow some government medical bureaucrat to shoot experimental vaxxes into my body, or try and convince me to kill myself. Steakman, you are correct, the medical profession has destroyed their credibility. I do not even trust my family doctor to do the right thing.

  29. While I don’t believe in abortion or euthanasia out of convenience, I could see the use of it, out of necessity..
    If the birth mother (not person), or the child, is in danger, in cases where the person is facing intolerable suffering..
    If it is the wish of the person involved, as long as it is their choice and not being chosen arbitrarily as a means of convenience for the person doing the choosing on another’s behalf.
    That is the grey area/slippery slope.

    Suicide in Canada was decriminalized in 1972, MAiD in 2015. Mental illness as a qualifier for MAiD is supposed to be enacted next March..
