Revenues may be up but so are costs (not including wages), so a lot of small businesses are seriously struggling to remain profitable. Reasonable owners are raising wages as they realize the stress on the employees, but they can’t increase wages (not to mention the attendant costs for CPP, EI, etc) as much as they might wish because the business will go under. As it is, there are a fair few owners who are foregoing personal raises to keep the business alive.

Then it typically announced it is leaving SDA and shortly after came back under a new name. Lather, rinse, repeat. 7. In my industry you’re basically nuts to stay with a company for more than 3 years. I usually get 15-20% more for hopping jobs every 3 years. As for the ceeb enjoy the paycheque while it’s coming in because it’s defund time in a few short years.

14. The company I work for decided to give raises at the start of the year, instead of on July 1st as normal. I expect that if inflation keeps up as it’s going to do, we can expect our next raise to be in July as normal next year…
