  1. Well, there’s a couple of more bricks missing from the wall…
    Best I can do. Sorry!

  2. All of them contain bricks and scum, but only one has umbrellas. I am not a robot.

  3. Exactly, what is your point? Are you claiming that Siberians have not been hitting civilian buildings in Ukraine? Seriously? So they go through a standard tour. So what? Are they supposed to customize and show each visiting official a different building destroyed by Siberians?

    1. Ukraine’s “civilian” buildings are as … civilian … as a Palestinian “school”. Give it a rest. The Russians are not targeting civilians. Don’t be willfully ignorant.

      1. The truth is exactly opposite to what you have said. The sporadic terror bombing of Kahrkiv within the last few weeks, that serves no military purpose but to terrorize civilians, is a perfect example of that.

        1. Because of the full court Presstitutes end to end propaganda … I don’t believe ANYTHING they report. Literally … NOTHING: I didn’t start out that way … but the narrative was rapidly deployed and EVERYTHING was” yeayyyy Ukraine” … “Russia baaaaaad Mmmmkay?” I don’t believe people reading from a script.

          1. Ok I get it, I despise MSM too. But there is tons of independent info available. The Enforcer stream (linked below) while amateurish in commentary refuses to include any MSM in his streams. Him and his brother, two college kids from Alabama, managed to collect more than 300K in donations for Ukraine. They’re amalgamating all the amateur videos posted on redit and similar sources and stream them daily, every day since the war started with exception of Mondays. And there are many like them. There is a difference between not trusting MSM, and willfully ignoring the overwhelming evidence of Pootin’s genocide and ethnic cleansing occurring in Ukraine.

      2. Russians are noted for accuracy and precision. Their favorite, and ancient, weapon is mass unguided rocket artillery. The good thing is a rocket 40kilo warhead most always hits the target. The bad thing is the other 400 fired hit within a 3 kilometer radius. ( Unless it’s windy. )

      3. “Ukraine’s “civilian” buildings are as … civilian … as a Palestinian “school”. Give it a rest. The Russians are not targeting civilians. Don’t be willfully ignorant.”

Seriously. I laugh every time I hear this claim.

The Russians are not deliberately targeting civilians for the same reason that the Israelis don’t do so: because A) it doesn’t further your military objectives but B) it *does* cause everyone to hate you and accuse you of war crimes.

If the Russians were actually targeting civilians, there would be NO CIVILIANS LEFT by now to complain about it. You wouldn’t be looking at pictures of a partially-destroyed apartment building, you would be looking at pictures of blocks and blocks of LEVELLED apartment buildings.

    2. Why don’t you virtue signal a Blue/Yellow flag with your moniker? Try to keep up with the LATEST THING, mkay?

    1. “It looks like everyone gets taken on the same tour route.”

Of course they do. I just have one question:

      WHERE IS THE TEDDY BEAR??

You know…the obligatory teddy bear oh-so-strategically-placed in the rubble of a destroyed apartment building? The Palestinians perfected that tactic (maybe even patented it?), so maybe the Ukrainians could reach out to them for help.

  4. As the IO, I used to do tours like this of the green line in Nicosia Cyprus. Always showed the same old bombed out buildings to the war porn visitors. It’s a dog and pony.

  5. Sesame street stopped playing that game years ago. Not allowed to acknowledge differences.

  6. Where’s Waldo?
When visiting Croatia, remnants of war with Serbia stand like monuments, shot out farm buildings with tank shell holes, etc.
I guess its “safe” being shown wreckage, not likely ti be wrecked again, unless somebody wants to take out an opposing opinion. Like assho, everyone got one.

  7. I’ll go a step further…green screen. Trudeau and Biden use them constantly, why not for a fake war?

  8. The implied question is pretty thoughtless.

The last thing that you do is put visiting VIPs at risk. So if you want to give then the Cooks Tour and let them see damage first hand…
You will not take them into the current combat zone.
You will not transport them any further than necessary when the enemy is targeting your transport infrastructure.
You will not take them into any area that has not been thoroughly checked and secured.

….. All of which means that you would *expect* repeat visits to a small number of locations that are safe and convenient. Anyone with half a brain will understand this, just as anyone with half a brain does not think that damage assessments are based on brief visits by VIPs. Aerial photo-comparison has been the tool of choice since WW2 for this purpose, unless you have satellites.

Not the most insightful post I’ve seen on SDA.

  9. Kate: The number of russian trolls on your site is troublesome – spewing out the same kind of lies and nonsense heard many years ago in german occupied areas….camps, what camps?

I appreciate to content of SDA a lot but it is increasingly getting to be a gathering spot for extremist russian and totalitarian apologists. Why don’t they all just man-up and come out and say they what they really mean instead of repeating all sorts of conspiracy lunacy: they want a subjugated Ukraine under russian control and miss the “glory days” of the USSR. Stop being a bunch of cowards, tell us how you really feel.

By the way, I was working to rebuild Borodyanka in May and saw with my own eyes how every single home in that village had been damaged by the russians. The proof of russian atrocities is evident to anyone willing to travel to Ukraine. Go ahead. It’s all there in living color.

      1. I saw his video and then read a recent Q & A with him:

        https://www.newyorker.com/news/q-and-a/why-john-mearsheimer-blames-the-us-for-the-crisis-in-ukraine

He’s against allowing Ukraine turning itself into a “liberal democracy,” as that’s apparently not an issue for the Ukrainians to decide. “This is great-power politics. When you’re a country like Ukraine and you live next door to a great power like Russia, you have to pay careful attention to what the Russians think, because if you take a stick and you poke them in the eye, they’re going to retaliate.”

Interesting. Ukrainians must simply just put up with Russian intimidation for the rest of their existence.

“I did say they’re going to take at least the Donbass, and hopefully not more of the easternmost part of Ukraine. I think the Russians are too smart to get involved in an occupation of Ukraine.”

Wow…so occupying the Donbas and Crimea is not occupying Ukraine?
And no talks about the indiscriminate human rights violations, wanton looting and destruction caused by the russians because it’s all the west’s fault

Tell you what. Why don’t you do your own research. If you are in Canada, fly to London. Then take the cheap EasyJet to Krakow. Visit Auschwitz to get a preliminary idea as to how totalitarian regimes function. Then take Polish rail to Przemysl on the Ukrainian border. Download Google translate. Talk to the Ukrainian refugees in both Krakow and Przemysl. Talk to the women about their encounters with russian troops. Cross the border. Take Ukrainian rail to Kyiv. Talk to the folks on the train. Walk around Kyiv. Go to the apartment buildings that were recently hit my missiles. Take a Bolt from Kyiv to the Irpin area. Look around. No escort required. Look at the destruction. Talk to the locals. Try and makes sense out of it.

This is all pretty safe stuff however, if you are more courageous, you can take a train to the Kharkiv area and really get a perspective on russian power-politics.

        Report back.

        1. You may wish things to be a certain way John, but realpolitik can get in the way.

Ukraine and Ukrainians are being used as tools in a bigger battle

Mearshiemer doesn’t disagree with you, but he is honest enough to understand the geopolitical realities.

Moral righteousness is not going to help Ukrainians.

And that 60 billion isn’t either.

  10. So they made up a photo op backdrop from a blown up city? Good for them. Kyiv is only minutes away from Russian nukes. I would not be able to sleep at night knowing that my Prime Minister was in the same sort of danger that he is bringing down on the head of my family, friends, and, me. After all, he exhibited leadership when he fled the capitol in the face of the latter day Ostrogoths, the Truckers.

The only way to cast aside the fears that our media is heaping on us, is to believe them. After you snap, go on a spree, the nice prison nurse will give you medication to make your fear go away.
