Most Open and Transparent Government In The World

This is the first time I’ve ever heard of a “secret order-in-council”.

Justin Trudeau, “Canadians deserve the most transparent and open government in the world”

True North- Trudeau government adopted 72 secret orders-in-council

CBC- Trudeau government has adopted dozens of secret cabinet orders since coming to power

During a six-year period under former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, eight secret orders-in-council were introduced that were related to the Investment Canada Act, said Bouchard. During that period — April 1, 2009 to March 31, 2015 — the Harper government adopted 22 secret orders-in-council.

71 Replies to “Most Open and Transparent Government In The World”

  1. What do you think the Privy Council is in the Canadian Penal Colony. Only Canada and the UK retain the Privy Council in their Parliaments. Because it is always abused. It is the direct Power of the Crown Usurped and wielded by the Elected Queeny Thingy. In this case Trudeau.
It is a 4th Order of Government.
Morons do not know this yet, and morons on here have argued that I am wrong.
But when the PM can wave his hand and make law directly with no review or vote in Parliament that means it is a 4th level of government none the less.
It should have been abolished years ago. Like all the other countries in the stunned British Communist Wealth of Nations.

    1. In practice the Privy Council only meets as the cabinet. Every country in the world has a cabinet. Note that the ex members of cabinet keep serving as Privy Councillors but exercise no authority. The Privy Council, as a whole, never meets. Note that the BNA Act never mentioned the Prime Minister or cabinet but lo and behold, they run the country. The BNA Act does mention the Queen, The Governor-General and the Privy Council but in the normal course of events they exercise no de facto authority. J. Peter Meekison taught me that back in 1970 in Political Science 200.

      1. Go and read the notes to the last two Imperial Conferences then the Preamble to The Statute of Westminster 1931. Tell us who appointed the Gov Gen before 1931 and who has appointed every single GG since. The PM is now the defacto Queen of Canada. He is the Head of the Privy Council as well as the only one who appoints the GG and the Lt. gov. Of each Province. He Appoints the Head of the Privy Council so he is the Privy Council. Privy Council and Cabinet are 2 distinctly different things.

        1. “Privy Council and Cabinet are 2 distinctly different things.”

Horse poop. The cabinet is a committee of the Privy Council, the only Privy Councillors that actually meet.

  2. Nice government we have. Hope I don’t break some of those secret laws.
Do you get a secret trial if you break a secret law?

Orders in Council are cabinet orders that are to be within powers granted to cabinet by certain statutes, basically the power to make regulations permitted by the statute in support of the statute. Governments will stretch the reach of what they are allowed to do. If the order is secret, no one can scrutinize whether the orders are in fact legal or not.

    1. “Do you get a secret trial if you break a secret law?”

I can’t say. But you can pretty much count on the sentencing phase of said trial, secret or otherwise.

      1. Burial at sea … outside the range of ground penetrating radar. Wouldn’t want anyone digging up Boy-PM’s dirty past.

  3. Seems like a good platform plank to make legislation that requires a parliamentary vote to retain these orders in effect once parliament resumes.
The operative here is that the orders in council (with the crown) are allowed when parliament is not sitting.
These where not intended (per the intent) to be used to bypass parliament.
However, judging from recent history it sure suggests this has become the practice.

  4. The first rule of secret orders in council is you don’t talk about secret orders in council.

  5. Same reason that the handouts to the Trudeau media frauds are secret.

Odd how we don’t see these stories in the fraudulent government funded and licensed media yet the independent media without funding and licensing seems to be able to find them.
How do they find these stories without $2 billion of our tax dollars?
If the corrupt government media does mention stories like this it is to whitewash them.

  6. It appears as though BOTH our country’s are ditching Democracy for Executive Orders. The Executive Branch is flat out SEIZING power. Power NOT granted the Executive.

No wonder they want to take the guns from our cold dead hands.

    1. What about secret Executive Orders, do you have those?
Maybe Trudeau will illuminate Biden to the idea.

      1. Not secret, but certainly nonsensical. When Biden came into office his administration revoked nearly ever major policy action that had been taken by the Trump administration. I understand that different political parties favor different approaches to governance, but it was very clear that the Biden administration was simply out to undo anything that had Trump’s name associated with it, regardless of any benefits or injuries that citizens of the US might suffer. Thus the death knell for the Keystone pipeline, and heinous refusal to lease public lands for oil and gas drilling.

And that’s how the Biden administration so quickly doubled the price of gasoline and diesel fuel.

As for Trudeau illuminating Biden, I can only say I’d love to have a tape of that conversation. Through the Looking Glass material, for sure. “And then we brought in police mounted on Percherons and knocked old ladies down. Works great, you should definitely give it a try. The Jackboots are one of my finest accomplishments. Check out this website…Mercenaries R Us.”

      2. Nope … we just have secret server … and 22 Trump Investigators who all “accidentally” wiped their cell phones clean. Oh! And we maintain secret money laundering networks in Ukraine.

  7. CBC Trudeau government has adopted six dozen secret cabinet orders since coming to power
    There, that sounds more honest

  8. As proof that entire gov, PMO and Parliament are a bad joke, have a look at this exchange from Question Period yesterday (warning, the “Tres Honorable” Prime Moron is in his prime, he acts triggered, concerned and accusatory):

    https://youtu.be/yvhYhdL2IUs?t=2399

Around 41:50, the idiot accuses Conservatives for ‘standing with NRA’. No demands for retraction/apology afterwards. The only request from the Speaker was only to tone down the background.

“Right Honourable” is a scumbag. Again. And Again.

Another thing: I saw ‘West Block’, one-on-one with ‘honorable’ Lametti (for who doesn’t know this worm – it’s Justice Minister). Underneath: “Justice Minister and Attorney General”. I was like wait a freakin’ minute, didn’t Top Scumbag promise after SNC Lavalin/JWR fiasco that he will separate these two jobs?!?

    In summary, Yeah we’re screwed.

      1. @roaddog: Yes, of course. But the idiot uses broad brush (again) and Conservatives should make him back off so he will think twice next time. He did the same thing with Freedom Convoy (“nazi flag! ALL of ’em are Nazis”) and Conservatives were like “oh we stand against this&that too”.

  9. Trudope and his WEF ilk are thieving communists.
And taking the guns away from honest folk is not going to do a damn thing for crime.
The law abiding are not the ones doing the crime, it’s the gang bangers and the mentally disturbed.
Or better yet the ones with no morals.

We need some consequences for crime not more useless laws.
Like you commit murder, we string you up!

But if your a communist and you want to take over, then yes your going to want to grab the guns from honest folk! Ain’t that right trudope!
And the OBiden crime family is up to the same damn thing.
    Never ever trust a liebral.

  10. Citizens of Canada cannot be equipped to defend themselves against the abuses handed out by Justin’s Jackboots and the Heavy Horse Warriors. Weaponize your walker now.

    1. “Citizens of Canada cannot be equipped to defend themselves against the abuses handed out by Justin’s Jackboots…”

Oh for Chrissakes. You can’t get 95 percent of the electorate to speak out, let’s not pretend they have any desire to defend themselves.

      1. Give me a call when any of the morons wake up. I hope I am dead before the tears of regret of regret start to fall. You can’t get 1% of the electorate to speak up, they are too f-ing stupid. Prove me wrong.

      2. They’ll get there eventually. Justin will push and push and push, and deprive and deprive and deprive. “Time to raise the carbon tax. You people are obviously eating too well.”

I get your point, though. I am amazed that the movement for separation does not have more support. Trudeau’s persecution of Albertans is beyond belief.

    2. Two years ago they outlawed AR’s, among 1500 other firearms. Last month, hand guns. Fill in the next blank…

      1. Knives. Pretty obvious.

Then what’s left? Tasers are already illegal, right?

          1. Yeah, I think you’re right. Maybe they let you keep that single-shot 22LR. Gotta get rid of those deadly assault bows next.

Greens will love it when the big game populations go completely un-managed.

        1. “Then what’s left? Tasers are already illegal, right?”

Yes, along with pepper spray. Carry *anything* that could be used to defend yourself and you are guilty of carrying “a weapon dangerous to the public peace”.

  11. Justin ran on transparency and has never been transparent once, save for his love of China.

This is why convoys are needed.

No apparatus in the government is meant for the people, only to preserve the kleptocrats who serve China.

  12. I remember when we would have spirited and informed debates on the topics that most affected the future of Canadians, then send our elected representatives to debate and argue for those policies that the majority finally agreed would best benefit the average Canadian.

Yeah, I am bullshitting you, I don’t ever remember that happening.

  13. In a CBC “article” today, Jagmeet, in his “opposition” role, expressed concern about all these secret orders. He opined that this lack of transparency “undermines trust in our public institutions”.
Jagmeet, how bold of you. Pussy.

    1. But it doesn’t undermine Jagmeet’s trust in the Trudeau government. The NDP still prop it up.

  14. Trudeau is not the one who scares me. He is who he is. The ones who truly scare me are his sycophants who can rationalize any and every abuse of power by this petulant narcissist akin to the fawning adulation accorded to Der Fuhrer by his fawning sycophants even as their country was literally collapsing around their ears. In their addled minds Dear Leader can do no wrong. I used to be truly perplexed by how someone like Hitler could come to power, but watching the behaviour of liberals these past few years, it’s no longer surprising. Dear Leader pumps them up through his bought and paid-for media to believe that they are “the chosen ones”; anyone opposing them can do so only for the most nefarious purposes; and the state propaganda ministry tells them the nice bed time fairy tales they want to hear in order to believe that only by slavishly obeying Dear Leader, can they reach the Utopia he’s promising. All opposition must be eliminated for “the greater good”. Reality be damned; all the unpleasantness can arise only because mendacious “enemies of the people” are deliberately sabotaging this march to Utopia. The worse things get, the more the true believers must double down on their insane policies.

    1. Exactly.

We know what kind of person Justin is.

But who would forgive possible abuse of minors, selling the country out to China, removal of freedoms and black-face?

      Voters and coaches, that’s who.

It’s a special sort of evil we have seen before.

    2. (Nota)freeland scares me; on your behalf of course.

Her intimate association with the worst of US progressives makes it clear that she is just a power hungry hound.

    3. and THAT is winner of the post of the month prize and its only the 2nd.

you doctor have accomplished a BULLSEYE right in the centre of the centre spot explaining all those trained seals in question period. and, AND the rise of so many tyrants throughout history. feel free to go back all the way to monsieur bonaparte. same thing. the simple truth its IMPOSSIBLE for 1 individual to do all the activity and laborious work. this *necessitates* so many to sign on and ‘do their part’, trading away their individuality for group power and glory.
it is a sad but harsh reality of the socio-political sphere.

this is the one thing the TURDeau got right, given the sinister motives and objectives of liberalism.

p.s. never a fan of harper the harpooned whale. he was well on his way to implement many more of these secret orders.

  15. Star Chamber sounds more like it.

Face it, when legal gun ownership is brought to an end (We Were Here First People notwithstanding [heh] ) and it will be if the Libranos remain in power, the number of these secret decisions will only increase.

And what will the Cons do if they were to regain power?
I’m not optimistic they can nor that they’d reign in or devolve federal power. Think they’re going to neuter the Privy Council or the spade the PMO?

    We’re pooched. Freedom is dead.

    1. And who let it die? The Canadian People killed Freedom No One Else.
It was handed to us and we KILLED it by not fighting for it.
Our English Speaking Peoples Killed Tyrants, many of them before to obtain Freedom and Liberty.
We have to do it all over again.
Find your back bones and find your balls.

      1. Nothing was handed to you. The Commonwealth system of government was ripe for abuse from day one and the only thing that kept the hounds at bay were morals, ethics, and a sense of unity under God. You were never a free person, you were always a subject of the Crown, and in fact you do not own the land beneath your house. Now that morals are fluid, ethics are a thing of the past, and God is all but shelved, there is no other path than tyranny that awaits.

  16. The big mistake the trucker convoy made was concentrating on Ottawa. Ottawa’s power flows through the local governments paralyze the Provincial and Municipal governments first, next time. And if necessary remove the tyrants from office. Hopefully you were not stupid enough to hand in your weapons or ammo. Think back to what it was like for minorities in Nazi Germany in the 1930’s. If the people had of rebelled and shot all the Nazi’s at that point it would have saved millions of lives.

    1. Bring this up at the new Nuremberg trials and when the average Canadian is now the “good German”.

      1. Well, OK. The vaxxes are killing more people than the whu who flu. I wonder will anyone actually catch on, or have their brains been destroyed by inhaling their own C02? Which is apparently causing climate change and serious brain damage at the same time. I got nothin as the terminally stupid laugh at me as they die. I keep saying prove me wrong, well, that is getting to be an impossibility.

  17. What delights me is him announcing “I am not targetting legal gun owners”. Well who else in the country gives a $hit about his nonsense gun laws? People who don’t have guns? Criminals?

    – Oh, and nice touch striking-down the parts of the Criminal Code that prescribed extra sentences for criminals who commit crimes using a firearm.

  18. Secret cabinet orders are nothing new.

When PET was in charge, Peter Treu was convicted under the Official Secrets Act for, allegedly, illegally possessing classified material. His security clearance had been secretly revoked, so he was, technically, in breach of the Act:

    http://archive.macleans.ca/article/1985/2/4/peter-treus-long-wait

It’s interesting to note that while this was headline news more than 40 years ago, there’s scarcely anything about it on the Internet. Coincidence?

By the way, this whole debacle came to light at about the same time that it was revealed that certain Mountie activities were real barn-burners.

  19. But, it was Harper who had the hidden agenda. Dear Leader is flawless. The CBC said so; therefore it must be true.

  20. Of course we have a transparent government. Prinz Dummkopf himself told us so….. in his quiet little-boy voice. When he speaks like that, we can know for sure that he’s being honest, right?

  21. Durr Leader had his own “convoy” on Deerfoot Trail the other day heading north to aeroporto YYC?
The local coppers on motos and in cruisers, lights ankaze, sirens wailing, held back the deplorables in carz, while Durr Leader waved from a blacked out SUV, or something.
    Most ridiculous display ever.
    Harper travelled in a minivan.

  22. A little known event happened in America over seventy years ago that should have been taught in every civic course in America and Canada. It relates to what happens when the oppressed have suffered enough. If this incident were better known then perhaps we would not find ourselves in our present situation. By a funny coincidence of history it happened in Athens, not Athens, Greece but Athens, Tennessee. Perhaps someone in the Privy Council should bring it to Prince Dumbkoff’s attention.

  23. So Super Secret Law making, has been going on for how long?
Sure proves that we have been lied to from birth.
    Paints a real pretty picture.
The Prime Minister and his cohorts are above all law..
    Secret Laws certify this.
Small wonder Emperor Justine has nought but contempt for Democracy..he was weaned on this knowledge, privy to information denied the rest of us.

I have never heard of this before.
Blows up all the social myths that are used to placate the taxpayer.
We have zero obligation to abide by the laws of Can Ahh Duh,for it turns out we never had any way of knowing what they are.
    Small wonder Reform was impossible.
What is the social contract between citizen and state, under secret law?
We can consent to be governed?
We can be said to have consented to anything done by government?
When we know not what they have done?
One hell of a sneaky way to get around the Magna Carta.
And sure explains our “Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedom” don’t it?.

So does the citizen get to hold a secret “Withdrawal of consent and imposition of the death penalty for all thieves and parasites”?
Seems perfectly reasonable in any State that permits secret rule and regulation..
I knew we were reduced to a State of Thuggery and low information voters..
    But this ices the cake.
None of the posted material says how long this has been going on just”zero in 2002″..Which begs the question.
    And highlights the vapid reporting.
What treasonous son’s of bitches made these kind of “laws” possible?
And what a useless bunch of scumbags our media and intellectuals truly are, that government has continued such treason since at least 2002..
    On the bright side.
    Civil War is now impossible.
For there is no legitimate State to rebel against.
For no government that makes laws in secret can make any claim to legitimately represent The People..
    One negates the other.

  24. This information sure puts the murder of the Port Dover Gunsmith by the Toronto city Police in a whole new light..
Might explain a number of high profile murders with incredibly inept follow up investigations..
“Oh never mind comrades, the act was sanctioned in a super secret order of the Privy Council”.
This differs from complete lawlessness how?
